Koffee With Karan season 8 is kicking of the year 2024 with sisters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor in its forthcoming episodes. While this will be Janhvi’s third appearance on the show, The Archies debutante Khushi Kapoor will be making her debut on the celebrity talk show. And the promo for the upcoming episode is out.
In the promo, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor talk about being confident about their episode. Karan asks Khushi about the conjecture of her dating The Archies actor Vedang Raina. To which, Khushi responds, “You know the scene in Om Shanti Om where the people are saying, ‘Om and I are just good friends!’” leaving both Karan and Janhvi in laughter.
Karan then talks about Janhvi Kapoor’s mimicing skills where the actress shows how her uncle Anil Kapoor behaves. In a fun segment, Karan asks Khushi about the boys she has dated. To which she responds, “I have only dated three and we are sticking to that” as she points finger at her younger sister.
When asked about the three people on her speed dial list, she mentions her father Boney Kapoor, sister Khushi Kapoor and her alleged boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya.
Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is one of the most keenly awaited films of 2024, more so for its fresh casting of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. Karan Johar has been successful in taking his home production house Dharma Productions to newer heights ever since he had to take on the responsibility following his father and well-known producer Yash Johar’s death in 2004. The filmmaker has now given a major credit for Dharma’s success to their banner’s CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Apoorva Mehta in an emotional post on Instagram.
By sharing his picture with Apoorva, Karan said that he came to his rescue to serve the banner despite being settled in the UK with his family. “When my father passed away in 2004… he left a void that perhaps can never be filled … on an emotional impulse I called my best friend @apoorva1972 who was based in the UK and very settled with his wife Bijal… I said “I need you … I have no family to help me build my father’s dream … Dharma productions” without even a pause he said “I will be there” and just like that overnight Bijal and him changed their settled life to walk into an unknown territory and as we enter 2024 I want to take this moment to express my deepest love and gratitude to both of them for being emotional and professional pillars to me in my most trying and challenging times!”
Adding how proud Yash Johar would have been, Karan ended the note saying, “Thank you Aps! My father would have been so proud of us … just knowing that we could keep it together and do our best to build his dream….love you and thank you! Happy new year to us and the entire @dharmamovies @dharma2pointo @dharmaticent @dcatalent families! You are all the reason we stand firmly on our feet.”
Dharma Productions’ last venture was Karan’s directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which released last year and became a success. It had an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
With less than a month left for the release of Fighter starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor, director Siddharth Anand has been teasing the fans with the glimpses of behind-the-scenes of the film. From the aerial shoots to on ground conversations, Siddharth has been showcasing what fans can expect from the upcoming movie.
In a series of photos shared on the social media, one can see Siddharth Anand on the sets to Fighter along with his team. Several artists are dressed in Air Force uniforms in a couple of shots. You can see the fighter jets in the photos. In one of the photos, Hrithik Roshan’s Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania aka Patty is giving command during the target practice with his team.
Two songs ‘Sher Khul Gaye’ & ‘Ishq Jaisa Kuch’ have been released. Fighter is set to release on the eve of India’s 75th Republic Day on January 25, 2024. The film also features a strong supporting cast of Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Mahesh Shetty, and Talat Aziz.
A strong crowd of more than 2000 people had a great time attending the show ‘Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaoon’. Presented by Saregama, it featured Javed Akhtar narrating never-before-heard stories behind some of the classic songs he wrote. This was followed by Meiyang Chang and Jahnvi Shrimankar singing those songs. At the very beginning of the show, the legendary songwriter brought the house as he revealed the funny episode of writing the evergreen song ‘Tumko Dekha Toh Yeh Khayal Aaya’ from Saath Saath (1982).
Javed Akhtar started writing lyrics after Yash Chopra coaxed him to do so for his film Silsila (1981). He said, “A film takes a lot of time to be made. When it releases after 1 ½ years, tab logbolte hai ‘Bahut acche dialogue likhe hai aapne’. Matlab dedh saal lag jaata hai taarif sunnemein! With song lyrics, you write the song, it’ll be recorded in 2 days and the same evening, you’ll get to hear praises! Hence, I started to enjoy writing lyrics. Yeh aasaan bhi hai aur isme taareef zyada hai!”
He then said how he came on board for Saath Saath saying, “Yash Chopra’s fourth assistant, Raman Kumar, a very talented man, approached me. He told me that he is making a small film and doesn’t have a huge budget. He told me ‘Main aapse free mein likhwana chahta hoon’!”
Javed Akhtar, in his trademark style, quipped, “Now, there could be two reasons why I wrote the songs for free. One is that I am kind-hearted and I felt that gareeb ki madat karna mera kartavyahai. The other reason could be that I was enjoying songwriting. Which reason you feel is correct, uspe aap tick mark kar dijiye!”
He continued, “You might be a very good person but when you do work for free, you take time! Those days, I used to drink extensively, that too every night. I had to deliver just one song. Raman used to come home every night and tell me, ‘Sir, woh ek gaana reh gaya tha’. I would reply, ‘Haan, bilkul’. Because of me, his liver also got affected!”
Javed Akhtar added, “Every night, I would tell him, ‘Kal tumhara gaana likhte hai’. The scenario would repeat every night. He had to catch a train. Hence, he used to check his watch (to ensure he doesn’t miss the last local train).”
The Padma Bhushan awardee continued to raise laughs as he stated, “One night, he told me, ‘Aajtoh der ho gayi. Kal pakka likh dena aap’. I was 8-9 pegs down and aise mein, confidence bada aajaata hai! I told him ‘Abhi kar dete hai’. I asked him for pen and paper. He was checking his watch, to catch the train. Hence, I know how much time I took to write the song.”
Javed Akhtar amazed the crowd as he revealed, “Yeh gaana sirf 9 minute mein likha tha. That song (‘Tumko Dekha Toh Yeh Khayal Aaya’) became a hit and continues to be popular even today.” As expected, the audience couldn’t stop clapping.

Kareena Kapoor Khan forayed into digital space earlier this year with Jaane Jaan, helmed by Sujoy Ghosh. While she had a great year in terms of her work, she is ending the year with a Forbes India cover. In the conversation, the actress heaped praises on Rani Mukerji and Tabu and the kind of work they are doing!
Praising Rani Mukerji, Kareena called her one of the most talented actresses in the Indian film industry. She said, “Rani is absolutely cinematic in every which way. Whatever role she plays, she just transforms on the screen. You cannot take your eyes off her.”
She further added that Tabu is one of the finest actors the industry has ever seen. “For them, no one thinks of age. They’re entertaining the audience. We’re here to entertain. How does age matter?” asked Kareena.
She added, “All these actors are doing better than even, sorry, but even the younger lot. We’re all raring to go. Age is just a number now and it shouldn’t even be discussed. Y’all are not asking these things to the older crop of actors so why are we (women) being asked?”
On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan will next star in The Buckingham Murders. The film is directed by Hansal Mehta.
2023 has almost come to a close with the last few days of the year left before we welcome the New Year; it’s time to look back in retrospect. Not surprisingly, 2023 has been a year filled with box office turmoil, while some big-ticket entertainers lived upto their name, a few others did not. Interestingly, a few smaller titled broke through the clutter emerging as box office wonders. In this yearend special report we look at some of the top Hollywood grossers of 2023 that left a mark at the India box office.
Not surprisingly, the Christopher Nolan directorial Oppenheimer that managed to draw in a massive Rs. 128.46 cr tops the list as the highest grossing Hollywood release of 2023. The film which came with immense hype and highly positive reviews enthralled the audience with its visual spectacle. Coming in a close second is the Tom Cruise starrer Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One that drew in Rs. 119.53 cr. Being the first part of the final chapter in the Mission: Impossible series hype for the film was at an all-time high. Taking the third spot on the list of the highest Hollywood grossers of 2023 is the tenth instalment in the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast X. Collecting Rs. 108.83 cr, Fast X garnered mixed feedback from the audience. While, these big-ticket releases were expected to cross the Rs. 100 cr mark, a few others like, John Wick: Chapter 4 that promised high octane action sequences drew in just Rs. 53.21 cr, falling short of expectations. Another big release that turned copper at the box office was the third instalment in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Collecting Rs. 52.21 cr, the third instalment of the hit series failed to compare with the previous two releases that enthralled the audience.
Though a few releases underperformed, the Top 5 grossers more or less retained their order at the box office. However, making a surprise entry as one film that made an impact at the box office was Barbie that drew in Rs. 45.45 cr, followed by the animated venture Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse that collected Rs. 44.85 cr. Another shocker like the third Guardians film was Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania that contrary to expectations did not even cross the Rs. 50 cr mark closing its run at the India box office at Rs. 43.69 cr.
However, the two surprises among the Top 10 Highest Grossing Hollywood releases of 2023 in India were the horror flicks The Nun 2 and Evil Dead Rise that stunningly drew in Rs, 43.49 cr and Rs. 36.50 cr respectively. Intestinally, both these release despite the limited release and the niche appeal surpassed expectations making a good impact at the India box office.

Over the past couple of years, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has picked up several hobbies to up his skills. The actor is known to be a perfectionist and devotes his time to skills he always wanted to learn. In recent times, the actor has been learning classical music and ensures to practice daily.
According to a report in Etimes, a source revealed, “Aamir devotes one hour every day to his singing. He is religiously doing his riyaz and learning from a classical music teacher.”
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is busy with the wedding festivities of his daughter Ira Khan, who is getting married to fitness trainer Nuphur Shikhare. She is tying the knot on January 3, 2023. This will be followed by two receptions. He is also focusing on his personal life as he was recently stationed in Chennai to look after his ailing mother.

In 2003, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani released his iconic comedy film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Starring Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, the characters of Munna and Circuit became iconic. This was followed by the 2006 sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai which also featured Vidya Balan. However, there has been no update on Munna Bhai 3, which fans eagerly are waiting for.
In a recent conversation with ANI, Rajkumar Hirani said, “Munna Bhai ke sath humesha mera struggle yehi raha hai ki pichli do films itni achi ban gayi hai ki mere paas 5 aadhi likhi scripts abhi tak padi huyi hai (The struggle with this film is that the first two films were so well made and I have five half-written scripts. I feel that if I don’t reach the level of those two films, I won’t be able to make the third one. I have one story that can be made but some stories get outdated so only time will tell.)”
“Meri aksar baat hoti rehti hai Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) se. Woh kehta hai ki ek banani chahiye. Abhi yeh Dunki khatam huyi hai toh ab main kholunga pitara purani kahaniyon ka. A day ago, news reports were abuzz with the demise of actor-politician Vijaykanth, a very respected actor and political leader, followed by which many of his colleagues expressed their condolences. Rajinikanth, who was shooting for his next titled Vettaiyan with Fahadh Faasil in Nagercoil, came across this news and decided to halt his work commitments to attend the last rites of his late friend. Amid this, photos of the two actors shooting for the film has found its way on social media and going viral.
Rajinikanth was shooting for Vettaiyan in Nagercoil when he came across the news of Vijaykanth’s demise. Popular journalist Ramesh Bala took to social media to reveal how the megastar decided to cancel the shoot to take out time and meet the grieving family in Chennai and took off to the Tamil Nadu capital. “#SuperstarRajinikanth canceled his movie #Vettaiyan shoot in Nagerkovil and is rushing back to Chennai to pay his homage to Captain #Vijayakanth”, he said in this post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Meanwhile, it seems that the fanclubs of Rajinikanth caught him shooting with Pushpa fame Fahadh Faasil at the location. The photos were posted on the same platform and needless to say, it has garnered a lot of attention. During the same, the filmmaker expressed his deep regret as he missed out on an opportunity to work with Sharmila Tagore in his directorial Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
For the unversed, Sharmila Tagore was approached first for the role essayed by Shabana Azmi in the romantic drama. Speaking about the same, Karan Johar said on the show, “I had offered Sharmila ji the part played by Shabana Azmi in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. She was my very first choice. Due to health reasons at that time, she couldn’t say yes but it is a regret I have.” Responding to the same, Sharmila revealed that her family and loved ones had asked her to not do it due to the pandemic as they were concerned on how the same will impact her health since Tagore is a cancer survivor. “This is at the height of Covid. They hadn’t really grappled with Covid at that time. They didn’t know the vaccine… We were not vaccinated. You know, after my cancer. So, they didn’t want me to take that risk,” replied the yesteryear diva.

In a surprise turn of events, actor-producer Arbaaz Khan tied the knot with make-up artist Sshura Khan in an intimate ceremony on December 24, 2023. The nikaah took place at their family residence in Mumbai in the presence of their family members and close friends from the industry.
Arbaaz Khan on Monday shared inside photos from the nikaah ceremony. He was seated beside his newlywed wife Sshura Khan, son Arhaan Khan, parents Salim Khan and Salma Khan, older brother Salman Khan and sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri. He captioned the post, “It’s you. It’s me. It’s us.”
In the series of photos, the entire Khan family was seen including Sohail Khan and his kids, Atul Agnihotri and kids, Arpita Khan Sharma and Aayush Sharma and their kids, veteran actress Helen and Sshura Khan’s family.
Arbaaz was dressed in peach and beige floral bandhgala with beige trousers for the ceremony. The bride Sshura was dressed in a shimmery blouse and floral peach lehenga. Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is currently basking in the success of Animal, recently opened up about the making of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer. Some audiences may recall that when this project was announced, it was said that Parineeti Chopra has been roped in for the film, so much so that the actress had too shared her excitement of working with the Kabir Singh filmmaker. However, later on it was revealed that Rashmika Mandanna has been roped in as the leading lady for the role of Geetanjali Iyengar.
In a recent interview with Komal Nahta, Sandeep Reddy Vanga discussed the reason behind the exit of Parineeti Chopra and mentioned that he did not see Geetanjali in her. “Actually, galti mera hi hai (it’s my fault). I said, ‘Ho sake toh maaf karo mujhe (if possible, please forgive me). I signed her one and a half years before the shoot and, for some reason, I didn’t see Geetanjali in her. Kuch kuch characters kuch kuch logo ko set nahi hota hai (some characters are such that it doesn’t set right with certain people).”
Sandeep also mentioned about how he wanted her to play Preeti in Kabir Singh. He continued, “Main kabhi audition main believe nahi karta (I don’t believe in auditions). I go by my instinct only. That I know. From day one I have liked her acting and I always wanted to cast her as Preeti, also in Kabir Singh but hua nahi uss time (it didn’t happen then).”
Sandeep maintained that one day he will definitely work with Parineeti Chopra since he admires her work and acting chops. He opened up about how she reacted when Rashmika Mandanna took over, Vanga added, “That’s long due. I always wanted to work with her. I told her and she also knows that. I told her, ‘Sorry, nothing is bigger than the film. So, I’m taking this decision and going ahead with another artist.’ She felt bad, but she understood why I was saying that.”

While the low-key wedding did get quite a bit of attention, the actor-producer decided to share this special moment on social media and also penned a heartfelt note. In a joint post, Arbaaz Khan and Sshura Khan shared photos from their ceremony where the groom is seen dressed in a floral bandgala and trousers whereas adding to the theme of the florals, Sshura was decked up in an elegant peach floral lehenga. In the caption, Khan wrote, “In the presence of our loved ones, me and mine begin a lifetime of love and togetherness from this day on! Need all your blessings and good wishes on our special day!”
From what we hear, Harshdeep Kaur also performed at the wedding. The singer-musician too took to the platform to share photos with the couple of the evening as she said, “Congratulations dearest #ArbaazKhan & @sshurakhan ?? Lots of love and Duas for the both of you <3 Loved performing for your most precious day with lots of love, warmth and music in the air!”
Raveena Tandon who is said to have shared a close bond with Sshura as well as Arbaaz Khan also posted a video of her and Arbaaz dancing along with a congratulatory message to the newlyweds. She wrote, “Mubarak Mubarak Mubarak!!! My darlings @sshurakhan and @arbaazkhanofficial ! So surreal! So so Happy for both of you! Abhi toh party shuru hui hai!!!! Mrs and Mr Shurra Arbaaz Khan!”
Arbaaz Khan and Sshura Khan is expected to have met on the sets of the film Patna Shukla, of which Raveena Tandon too was a part of. This is Arbaaz’s second marriage as the actor-producer was earlier married to Malaika Arora and the couple also has a son named Arhan Khan. Arhan too was one of the guests who attended his father’s wedding.
