Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt took on the role of host for the Hope Gala event in London this past weekend. The event, held in support of the Salaam Bombay Foundation, aimed to raise funds to aid underprivileged teenagers in India. This charitable organization is dedicated to empowering the most vulnerable children in Mumbai, offering them vital opportunities through in-school programs focused on leadership and advocacy, as well as after-school academies dedicated to skill-building. Through these initiatives, Salaam Bombay endeavours to nurture confidence, bolster self-esteem, and foster a commitment to education among these at-risk youths.  From the moment she stepped onto the stage, Alia captivated the audience not only with her charm and wit but also with her impeccable sense of style.

For the evening, Alia Bhatt donned a resplendent cream-coloured saree adorned with intricate lace and pearl details, designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Adding to her elegance were the emerald earrings that adorned her ears, subtly accentuating her ensemble with a touch of regal allure.

She then wore a stunning wine-coloured gown. She paired it up with an exquisite blue sapphire and diamond necklace, paired with a matching ring, both from the Italian jewellery brand, Bulgari. The stunning set of jewellery, reportedly valued at a whopping Rs. 20 crore (approximately 2.5 million USD), instantly was talked about on social media.

On the work front, Alia Bhatt will next star in her co-production Jigra. It also stars Vedang Raina and is helmed by Vasan Bala. The film is set for a September 2024 release. On the other hand, Alia also has YRF’s standalone spy universe project with Sharvari Wagh and Bobby Deol.

Ranbir Kapoor denies rumours of paying crores to Alia Bhatt’s sisters during ‘Joota Churai’ ceremony: “We did give some cash”

The Great Indian Kapil Show brought back Kapil Sharma alongside his gang of friends Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Rajiv Thakur and Archana Puran Singh with a whole lot more up their sleeves. The first guests on the show were Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as the episode aired on Netflix on March 30. During the episode, Ranbir denied the rumours of paying crores to Alia Bhatt’s sisters during ‘joota churai’ ceremony at their wedding.

During a recent episode, hot Kapil Sharma didn’t shy away from addressing the elephant in the room, as he questioned Ranbir about the rumours. To this, Ranbir calmly said, “No. That’s not true.” However, Neetu Kapoor interjected, “We did give them some cash.” Ranbir then clarified that while Alia’s sisters did demand a significant sum in lakhs, he negotiated them down to “a few thousands.” Archana Puran Singh suggested that the sum seemed too low given the circumstances. Ranbir said, “We had a small ceremony at home.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir Kapoor has Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana opposite Sai Pallavi. He has also signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.

Tamil actor Daniel Balaji passes away at 48 due to cardiac arrest

Best known for his role as Amudhan in the Kamal Haasan, Jyothika starrer Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu, Daniel Balaji is known for some of the most power packed roles in Tamil Cinema. The actor, at the age of 48, passed away in Chennai after suffering from a cardiac arrest. Many of his colleagues from the industry expressed their condolences and took to social media to share their grief over the actor’s demise.

Reports suggest that Balaji complained of chest pain on Friday, after which he was immediately rushed to a hospital in Kottivakam, Chennai. Although he was undergoing treatment, the doctors reportedly couldn’t save him. He was later taken to Purasaiwakam for his last rites where the family also held his funeral. Balaji, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, made his debut in 2002 with the Tamil film April Madhathil starring Srikanth and Sneha. On the other hand, he has also featured in a handful of Malayalam films too.

Expressing their grief over the actor’s demise, director Mohan Raja took to social media to share his condolence message saying, “Such a Sad news, He Was an inspiration for me to join film institute, A very good friend, Miss working with him, May his soul rest in peace”.

In yet another message shared by his Vettaiyadu Vilayaaadu co-star Kamal Haasan said, “The sudden death of brother Daniel Balaji is shocking. The agony of a young man’s deaths is painful. My condolences to Balaji’s family, friends and fans. He will live even after his death by donating his eyes. My tribute to Balaji who has given light.”

Parineeti Chopra pens heartfelt note of gratitude ahead of Amar Singh Chamkila release; says, “I’m immensely thankful” to the team

Parineeti Chopra will be seen in one-of-a-kind drama in Amar Singh Chamkila, which is a biopic on the 70s Punjabi singer by the same name. The film traces the rise and later, the murder of the musician who created history in North India with his music. With Diljit Dosanjh playing the titular character, Parineeti will be seen as his wife Amarjot in the Netflix film. Sharing her experience of working with the team which also includes Imtiaz Ali and A R Rahman, Parineeti took to social media to express her gratitude.

In her recent post shared on her Instagram feed, Parineeti Chopra posted several BTS moments from her film Amar Singh Chamkila which saw some unseen photos of her with co-star Diljit Dosanjh, director of the film, Imtiaz Ali, among others. Also penning a note of gratitude, she opened up about the great qualities of the team she worked with and said, “I’m immensely thankful for Chamkila @imtiazaliofficial sir, your direction was unparalleled; you truly led the ship with finesse. Your vision and passion set a new standard.” She continued, “@diljitdosanjh, you were the perfect co-star, making every moment on set enjoyable and effortless. @arrahman sir, being musically directed by you – a thing of dreams. Kriti Kharbanda got highly emotional after her husband Pulkit Samrat decided to do ‘pehli rasoi’ at her family’s place in Bengaluru. The actress mentioned that her husband wanted to break this age-old patriarchal ritual of women cooking for in-laws and decided to do the same for her and his in-laws at actress’ place in Bengaluru. She also penned a long note, expressing her gratitude towards having such a ‘green flag’ partner along with posting photos from his pehli-rasoi ceremony.

Kriti Kharbanda took to Instagram to share pictures of Pulkit Samrat making halwa, which indeed look delicious and also penned a note about how the actor told her he wanted to do this ritual, because he believes marriage is about sharing responsibilities. In his note, she wrote, “Green flag alert!” and she continued, “Ok so something major happened yesterday and I fell in love all over again. She went on, “He used the word simple. Yes. So casually he changed everything around and used the word simple. And in all honesty it was. Imran Khan and Lekha Washington rent the Mumbai apartment of Karan Johar for Rs. 9 lacks

Reports have been abuzz about the return of Imran Khan who has been on an infinite sabbatical from the industry. The actor, of late, has been making many appearances at events, and is often accompanied by Lekha Washington. With Imran recently confirming about his relationship with Washington after several rumours, now we hear that the couple will be living together in Mumbai in the apartment of Karan Johar.

If reports are to be believed, Imran Khan and Lekha Washington have rented the Bandra flat of filmmaker Karan Johar for a whopping Rs. 9 lakhs. As per Zapkey, this new residence located in the third-floor of Clefepete apartments boasts of a sea view and is said to be in close proximity to one of the houses which was rented by Aamir Khan earlier. According to this real estate data platform, the agreement, dated for March 20, 2024, is expected to have been signed for a period of three years.

The rumours of Imran Khan and Lekha Washington dating have been doing the rounds for quite some years, possibly ever since he announced his separation from wife Avantika Malik. In an interaction with Vogue, the Jaane Tu actor confirmed his relationship status and added, “The rumors about my romantic involvement with Lekha Washington are indeed true. I have been divorced and separated since February 2019.”

For the unversed, Imran Khan was previously married to Avantika Malik. The childhood sweethearts tied the knot in 2011 and in 2014, the couple became parents to a daughter, Imara Malik Khan. In 2019, they decided to part ways due to irreconcilable differences. On the other hand, Lekha Washington too was married to journalist Pablo Chaterji but they parted ways too.

On the work front, Imran Khan was last seen in Katti Batti alongside Kangana Ranaut in 2015. Whereas, Lekha Washington who is known for her stints in South cinema, also dabbles with other artistic works including sculpting.

At the post-match presentation ceremony on March 25, Virat Kohli said, “We were not in the country. We were at a place where people were not recognising us. Just time together as a family, just to feel normal for two months. For me, for us as a family, it was a surreal experience.”

In another interview with Harsha Bhogle, Virat Kohli talked about the importance of family and said, “Of course, having two kids, things become totally different from a family perspective. So just the ability to be together, the connections that you make with your older child, it’s amazing. I mean, I couldn’t have been more grateful to God for the opportunity that I got to spend time with my family.” he added.

The cricketer reflected on the attention since he arrived in India. “And yeah, just the place that we were in, I was telling the guys that when we came back, the voices back home felt that much louder. I couldn’t look up because I was just not used to being called my name for two months. And then immediately you hear these loud noises and then you’re back in it all again. But it was beautiful. It’s an amazing experience to just be another person on the road and not be recognised and just carry on about life that normally people would on a daily basis,” he added.

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli remained private about the second pregnancy. They announced the birth of their son through social media. Akaay Kohli was born on February 15 in London.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar set to premiere on Netflix on May 1

Filmmaker extraordinaire Sanjay Leela Bhansali is all set to make his digital debut with the much-anticipated web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. At the special event on Wednesday, it was confirmed that the series is premiering on streaming giant Netflix on May 1. The release date of this ambitious project was unveiled in a drone light show event held at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai.

Joining the celebration were the stars of the show, including the talented ensemble cast featuring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Sheikh. Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat to kick off second schedule of Jewel Thief in April 2024; final shoot to begin in Europe in May: Report

Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Nikita Dutta kicked off the shoot for the high-octane heist thriller titled Jewel Thief in February 2024. With filming underway, the anticipation surrounding this action-packed venture, helmed by director Robbie Grewal of Romeo Akbar Walter fame, is palpable. Produced by Siddharth Anand under his banner Marflix Pictures, this project marks Anand’s second foray into production following Fighter. Now, the team readies for its second schedule set to unfold in Mumbai come April, followed by the final leg slated to take place across the picturesque landscapes of Europe.

As per a report in Mid-day, a source revealed, “The second schedule begins from April 7 during which Saif and Jaideep will shoot critical portions across real locations in south and suburban Mumbai. It will be a 20-day stint after which the unit will head to Europe for the final leg. The director plans to film some songs and an action sequence in the foreign stint. He is currently on a recce in Europe and will lock the locations by the weekend. Robbie’s plan is to wrap up the project by May.”

Janhvi Kapoor wraps Goa schedule of Jr NTR starrer Devara: Part 1: “Can’t wait to come back and be Thangam again”

With anticipation mounting steadily, the forthcoming Indian epic, Devara: Part 1, featuring Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, continues to captivate cinephiles worldwide. The latest update saw them kick off a week-long schedule against the picturesque backdrop of Goa. After completing earlier gruelling schedules in Hyderabad, Jr. NTR and Janhvi shifted base to Goa for the next leg of shooting. And the leading lady, who makes her Telugu debut with this project, has wrapped her schedule.

Recent glimpses from the set, including a video showcasing Jr. NTR amidst the scenic beauty of a Goan beach, stirred fervent anticipation among fans. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor, who portrays the role of the charming village belle, Thangam, in traditional attire, has expressed her eagerness to rejoin the ensemble after wrapping Goa’s schedule. Sharing a photo from Goa, she wrote, “Can’t wait to come back and be #Thangam again. #Devara.”

Janhvi Kapoor’s look from Devara was unveiled on her birthday on March 6. The film’s ensemble cast has Saif Ali Khan, who is set to play a pivotal role in this project.

The magnum opus marks Jr. NTR’s second big collaboration with filmmaker Koratala Siva after the 2016 hit film Janatha Garage which earned immense appreciation from audiences and critics.

Directed by Koratala Siva, Devara will unfold in two parts, with the initial chapter hitting theatres on October 10, 2024, coinciding with the Dussehra weekend. The magnum opus is produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, and presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram. The film’s music is orchestrated by Anirudh Ravichander, and the cinematography is handled by R Rathnavelu.
