“Feels amazing to have started and also ending the year on a creative high” – Bhumi Pednekar on Badhaai Do and Govinda Naam Mera

Bhumi Pednekar has delivered some of the most memorable performances by a leading lady in recent years. In 2022, Bhumi gave two brilliant performances in Badhaai Do and Govinda Naam Mera! Talking about her notable year, Bhumi says, “It feels amazing to have started and also ended the year on a creative high. I was fortunate to begin the year with Badhaai Do that gave me so much love and appreciation. It’s a really special film and I’m glad we tried to make a very important point about inclusivity through the film’s sensitive messaging.”

Bhumi, who played the role of a lesbian girl named Sumi in Badhaai Do with utmost sensitivity and brilliance, adds, “I have received so many awards for this film throughout the year which I dedicate to the LGBTQIA+ community in India. Badhaai Do would sit right on the top of my filmography for being a film that also aimed at making a change.”

Bhumi’s performance in Govinda Naam Mera as Gauri Waghmare, a feisty, witty, independent woman who challenges the status quo of gender through her life choices, has received unanimous positivity. She is happy to be ending 2022 on a high and that she has showcased her skill to deliver diverse roles with ease.

Bhumi says, “I’m also happy that I ended 2022 with Govinda Naam Mera doing a role that has earned me a lot of appreciation. It was a challenging role and I’m glad that I have entertained people.”

She adds, “Badhaai Do and Govinda Naam Mera are two diametrically opposite films. So, to win love for both satisfies me because it shows me that I can play both ends of the spectrum as an actor. As a creative person, it is always important to be validated for one’s work and 2022 has been that year for me.”

On the work front, Bhumi will now be seen in films like Anubhav Sinha’s Bheed, Ajay Bahl’s The Ladykiller, Sudhir Mishra’s Afwaah, Gauri Khan produced Bhakshak, Mudassar Aziz’s Mere Husband Ki Biwi and a couple of more unannounced projects that will push the bar for cinema.

“We have an extraordinary battle when Shah Rukh Khan takes on John Abraham” – says Pathaan director Siddharth Anand

Pathaan is a part of Aditya Chopra’s ambitious spy universe and has the biggest superstars of the country Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in it. The makers are constantly dropping teasers to the fans and audiences so that they are constantly discovering new information about this most anticipated film in recent times. It looks like YRF released the jukebox of Pathaan on Friday and it interestingly has a Pathaan theme track and a Jim theme track which led to fans figuring out that John, who plays Pathaan’s arch-enemy, is going to be called Jim!

Director Siddharth Anand had earlier revealed that he will present John in a super slick avatar in Pathaan. He said, “I have always believed in the fact that the villain’s projection should be as big, if not bigger than that of the hero’s. Only when the villain is massive, can the tussle between them be spectacular. And we have an extraordinary battle when SRK takes on John!”

YRF’s film is set to release on January 25, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Shah Rukh Khan reveals he always wanted to do an action film with Aditya Chopra; says, “I had this big desire to do an action film, ever since I entered the industry”

We all know that one of the main reasons behind the long standing association between Shah Rukh Khan and Yash Raj Films is Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.  But the superstar recently revealed that his record breaking film that managed to establish him as an evergreen romance legend was not something he was keen on doing initially. It seems that SRK always desired to do an action film ever since the start of his film career. Filmmaker Aditya Chopra even started work on a script for the actor but suddenly the situation changed and the world got DDLJ. Looks like his wish come has true with Pathaan!

Recalling the early 90s, when Shah Rukh Khan was approached for an action film under the YRF banner, the superstar revealed in an interview, “I have had this big desire to do an action film, ever since I entered the film industry. When I and Aditya started off, he wrote an action film for me. I never thought I could do romance or social drama. But one day, he came to me and said, ‘Can we drop this idea, Shah Rukh? I’ve got a love story to do.’” And the rest is history. For the unversed, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge featured Kajol as the leading lady and the film ran in theatres for over two decades, making it the longest running film in history.

On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan will soon return as the leading man of yet another YRF venture, Pathaan. The film will feature him in the role of a spy. Talking about how he leaped at the opportunity of doing an action entertainer, SRK added, “This time when he said Pathaan, it was COVID and just a little shooting was allowed. I quickly jumped on it and told my team, ‘Let’s do it before he cancels.’ So, I worked out and built a body. But they didn’t want any of it. They told me, ‘You just do cool action. You are easy’.”

Pathaan also stars Deepika Padukone as SRK’s leading lady and John Abraham as the antagonist. The film will release on January 25 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

EXCLUSIVE: Ayushmann Khurrana reveals he is happiest on sets; says, “When I am at the sets, I am full of energy”

In the Bollywood Hungama Actors  2022 presented by Astroyogi, when Ayushmann Khurrana was asked about what keeps him going when it comes to acting, Ayushmann said, “I am happiest on the sets. I might be super grumpy, lazy at my home or maybe when am with my family. However, when I am at the sets, I am full of energy with a little adrenaline rush in me.

Opening up about his journey of changing careers, he said, “I always wanted to be an actor. I wouldn’t say that this was the only thing I wanted to do as I have dabbled a lot of professions. I started as a journalist, then a radio jockey, followed by television presenter, and have also maintained a blog. I had my plan A, B, C, D laid out as I am very practical in that sense. This gives me utmost happiness.

While expressing his views on how an actor is built, he shared, “For me, it is very important to live life and not live in a bubble. I believe, to be an actor, one needs to experience more so that those experience can be reflected on your work. I like living life from the basic level, to get connected with the people, to meet new people and to travel”.

Further when asked whether he always had the same views or it had changed with time, he answered, “It had always been the same with me. When we used to do street theatres, we had to travel length and breadth of the country by second class sleeper trains where we used to meet different people from different states, due to which I had varied experience in my teens which led to plenty of fodder for creativity.

Riteish Deshmukh apologizes to a journalist who claims to have been mistreated by his bouncer

Riteish Deshmukh, who kicked off his career with Bollywood, has now become a well-established name in Marathi industry too. He is all set to make his directorial debut with Ved, which is expected to be a remake of the South film Majili. The film also marks the Marathi acting debut of Genelia D’Souza. With the release date nearing, the actor decided to visit the iconic Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur to seek the blessings of the Goddess. Recent reports, however, claimed that a journalist who tried to meet the star for an interaction was mistreated by his team.

As per reports, a journalist attempted to catch a glimpse of the star for an interaction but the PR team of Riteish Deshmukh is said to have misbehaved with the professional and is even said to have thrown him out of the hotel. After reports about the incident started surfacing, Riteish Deshmukh addressed it during a media interaction that was held in Kolhapur, where he apologized on behalf of his team. He said, “I apologise if you feel that you have been insulted by us. I had not organised any meeting. I have been married for 11 years, but we did not come to take a darshan (of the temple) together. So, we came to visit the temple. This is not the place to talk about movies. May the blessings of Mahalakshmi be upon you.”

Coming to Ved, the film is a remake of the Naga Chaitanya, Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer Majili and also marks the movie debut of Jiya Shankar. It marks the return of the popular couple Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza on the big screen. The film also has Salman Khan doing a special appearance in the form of the dance number ‘Ved Lavlay’. It is expected to hit the theatres on December 30.
