In a roundtable of Film Companion, Bobby Deol opened up about how he initially reacted to his character in Animal and how he realized the intensity of his villainism when he started to shoot for it. Speaking about it, Bobby said, “I used to feel disgusted with myself when I started shooting for it. But then I realised I’m playing a character. Why am I feeling so disgusted, so icky? Fir maine unhi logon ke sath jinke sath scene mein jo bhi kiya hai, fir unke sath hum shaam ko sath mein baith ke khana kha rahe hain (And later, it all became such that I would have dinner with the same people I worked acted out those scene with).”

Interestingly, last week, Bobby Deol had opened up about playing the same role and had defended it when it received a lot of backlash from the audience and film viewers. “We are influenced by what is happening in society as filmmakers. What is written, as a story, is an influence of what is happening in society. It exists in our society. We are not promoting it. We are actors, portraying characters, entertaining people. And if that was the case, this film wouldn’t be a big hit,” Bobby told The Quint during an interview.

Speaking of Animal, the film also stars Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in key roles along with Triptii Dimri, Saloni Batra, Anshul Chauhan, Siddhant Karnick, among others essaying supporting characters. The film released to a thunderous response on December 1.

You, Me & Her (2023) Film Review #wanitaxigo

Janhvi Kapoor on the advice she gave to her sister Khushi before her debut with The Archies, “Told her to be prepared for hate but not to forget herself”

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor must have had many conversations with her sister Khushi Kapoor about this industry and social media attention. Khushi made her debut earlier this month with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies.

Janhvi Kapoor spoke about her sister Khushi Kapoor’s The Archies at recent AajTak Agenda 2023 conclave. Speaking in Hindi and English, she said, “She [Khushi] did such a wonderful job at being honest. When I was talking to her, I told her to be prepared for hate but not to forget herself in the process. I wish someone said this to me. I wish someone told me to try looking at the people that value you, like you because believing the bad is always easier.”

She added, “When someone says something bad about you, then believing that person becomes easier. It takes a lot of self-confidence to believe someone who says the right thing. Me and my sister, at times, we question ourselves a lot. I told her ‘Don’t lose yourself, don’t be jaded because you’ve been very honest.’ I felt her performance was very warm, there was a lot of innocence in it. She was not trying to show anything off and it is very difficult to be this real in front of the camera.”

Furthermore, she said, “I advise her every day. She is tired of listening to me. I also feel she is more sensible than me. When I debuted, the pressure was a lot more, and a lot was going on the personal front [Sridevi died five months before Janhvi’s debut film, Dhadak], I was like a headless chicken. The validation I was looking for from my mother, which wasn’t there suddenly, I started looking for it from the audience. And I put so much pressure on me that Dhadak, which was a commercially successful film and everyone gained from that film, but the social media chatter got to me and whatever decision I took for the next five years, was born out of insecurity. Slowly, I started running away from the discussion around the fact that I am my mother’s daughter.”

On the work front, Janhvi Kapoor will be seen in Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, Ulajh and the much-awaited Jr. NTR starrer action entertainer Devara Part 1, which is releasing in cinemas on April 5, 2024.
