Alia Bhatt and Dev Patel recognized in TIME’s 100 Most Influential List; Tom Harper and Daniel Kaluuya praise their work

South Asian stars in global cinema are celebrating a double win as two of its brightest stars, Indian actress Alia Bhatt and British-Indian actor Dev Patel, have secured a coveted spot on Time magazine’s prestigious “100 Most Influential People of 2024” list. This recognition highlights the global impact of Indian actors and the immense talent they bring to the world stage.

Alia Bhatt, a household name in India, has been steadily carving her niche as a leading actress with critically acclaimed performances and immense audience popularity. Her dedication and talent haven’t gone unnoticed internationally. Tom Harper, the director of her Hollywood debut film Heart of Stone, penned a glowing tribute for the magazine.

Harper described Bhatt as a focused and collaborative artist, praising her willingness to embrace creative risks. He wrote, “I met Alia on Heart of Stone, her English-language film debut. Despite her fame, on set she is self-effacing and funny. There is a grace to the way she goes about her work: focused, open to ideas, and willing to take creative risks. One of my favourite moments in the film came from an improvisation at the end of a take where she took the emotional thread and ran with it.”

Harper concluded his piece by calling Bhatt an “international star” whose magnetism resonates with audiences worldwide. He added, “Alia’s superpower is her ability to mix movie-star magnetism with authenticity and sensitivity. As an actor, she is luminous, and as a person, she brings the grounded assurance and creativity that make a truly international star.”

Meanwhile, Dev Patel, who made his directorial debut with Monkey Man, is also included in the TIME 100 list. Actor Daniel Kaluuya, Patel’s co-star in the British teen drama Skins, penned a heartfelt tribute acknowledging their journey together.

Kaluuya reminisced about their early days, filled with youthful enthusiasm and the shared joy of pursuing their acting dreams. He wrote, “He was so full of life, and we both couldn’t believe we were missing school to do this. After Slumdog Millionaire, I went from getting food with him in Wetherspoons to watching him at the Golden Globes, within a month—and he still checked in when he got back.”

Kaluuya specifically praised Patel’s performance in his action-drama Monkey Man, calling it his favorite. He commended Patel’s ability to portray characters with depth and complexity, evoking empathy from viewers even in challenging roles. Additionally, Kaluuya lauded Patel’s directorial debut with Monkey Man, marking a significant milestone in his multifaceted career.

The other Indians who have been included on the list are World Bank President Ajay Banga, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and Olympic wrestler Sakshi Malik.

EXCLUSIVE: Parineeti Chopra initially did not follow politics but now does after marrying Raghav Chadha: “I had no idea of who he was, what he was”

Following the release of Amar Singh Chamkila starring Diljit Dosanjh, and Parineeti Chopra and helmed by Imtiaz Ali, the film has become the talk of the town. The reactions from critics and audiences have been positive. It has been a while since Parineeti has received immense praise for her performance. And the actress is overwhelmed. In a sit-down chat with Bollywood Hungama, Parineeti talked about the film, working with Imtiaz Ali and Diljit Dosanjh and even shed light on her marriage to AAP leader Raghav Chadha.

In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Parineeti Chopra said that she never followed politics before but now she does. Raghav is an MLA from Punjab for Aam Aadmi Party. Parineeti said, “Ab toh karna padta hai (I’ve got to follow politics now). But my complaint is that he doesn’t follow entertainment. God only knows (what he watched on screen last). And only he knows. I have to cue him. He knows nothing about films. He knows a little about music, but he won’t know if it’s my film song. So I have to continuously nudge him, ‘Just pretend like you know’ (laughs). So it’s sweet. But the best thing is that I actually don’t know anything about politics, he doesn’t know anything about entertainment, so our conversations are about life. That’s perfect for me.”

Parineeti Chopra revealed that initially, she did not consider that Raghav was a big deal in politics. She said, “The first time I met him, I had no idea of who he was, what he was. So the people who follow politics and know him were like, ‘You’ve married Raghav!’ I said, ‘Yeah, what’s the story here?’ But now that I know him and his work, who he is and what he does, he’s one of the most impressive people. To be the youngest Member of Parliament. At 35, be part of this party and do the work he’s doing, I feel like, ‘How do you do it? You’re just a baby! How’s this happening?’ So it’s nice to be married to someone who’s not from the industry. I’m too much of a Sufi soul. I have a life outside of the film industry. So if my husband had also been from this industry, I’d have gone mad. So he’s made my life even more normal. I always want normalcy, and he’s made my life even more normal. So I’m married to the most wonderful man.”

Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha tied the knot in 2023. They reportedly knew each other since college days in London.

Meanwhile, Parineeti Chopra stars in Amar Singh Chamkila. The film charts the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar of the masses, the highest record-selling artist of his time, who emerged from the shadows of poverty and rose to the heights of popularity in the 80s due to the sheer power of his music, angering many on the way, which finally led to his assassination at a young age of 27.

Starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra, Amar Singh Chamkila is Netflix’s ode to the vibrant life of the legendary Punjabi musician.

War 2: Hrithik Roshan shoots a pistol, Jr. NTR takes on villain role as the shooting pictures get leaked

The YRF Spy Universe is expanding, and this time, it’s taking us on a relentless mission with War 2. Remember that awesome action we saw in Tiger, War, and Pathaan?  War 2 promises to be just as gripping, if not more. This time, the spotlight shines on the dynamic duo of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, with Kiara Advani joining the crew for good measure. Filming kicked off last year with elaborate shoots in Spain and Abu Dhabi, and now, the action has shifted to Mumbai. Here’s the juicy part: Roshan’s enigmatic Kabir Dhaliwal is about to have a face-off for the ages with Jr NTR’s formidable villain.

As per reports, a massive set has been built at a Vile Parle studio, complete with both the inside and outside of a plane. According to Zoom, photos of both Hrithik and Jr NTR from the set have leaked online, giving us a sneak peek at their characters. Hrithik looks sharp in a light blue turtleneck and black military vest, while Jr NTR rocks a sleek black outfit.  In another photo, Hrithik is all business, taking aim with a pistol.

And the action doesn’t stop there. After Mumbai, the cast and crew will head to Yash Raj Studios for a three-month shoot packed with intrigue and stunts galore. Here’s the coolest part: to pull off these mind-blowing stunts, the filmmakers have assembled a dream team of 11 stunt coordinators from all over the world!  Each coordinator will be responsible for choreographing a specific set-piece, ensuring a nonstop barrage of action throughout the film.  Think car chases, train races, and high-speed boat battles – War 2 has it all!

War 2 is set to hit theaters around Independence Day 2025.

The internet can’t stop talking about the new musical drama film, Amar Singh Chamkila, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra! Since its recent release on Netflix, the movie has been receiving rave reviews and showers of congratulations from the cast and crew. Now, the buzz around Amar Singh Chamkila has gotten even bigger, thanks to a delightful shout-out from none other than Amul India!

The popular dairy brand is known for its creative topical ads, and they haven’t disappointed with Amar Singh Chamkila. Amul’s official Instagram account recently shared a fun animated picture featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in their characters from the movie. Salman Khan Gunshot Firing: Mumbai Police arrest two suspects from Gujarat’s Bhuj

The Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended two individuals allegedly involved in the Sunday morning firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra West residence. Confirming the arrests, Mumbai Police officials revealed that the accused were apprehended late Monday night in Bhuj, Gujarat. 

“Both the accused, who fled Mumbai after the firing, have been arrested from Gujarat’s Bhuj,” the officials told to ANI. The accused will be brought back to Mumbai for further investigation. 

The incident, which unfolded early Sunday morning, witnessed two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants open fire outside Galaxy Apartments, Salman Khan’s residence. The assailants fled the scene after discharging a total of four rounds. One live cartridge was recovered from the site. 

The incident sparked immediate action from law enforcement agencies, with the Mumbai Crime Branch initiating an investigation. Preliminary investigation suggests a well-planned attack, as the suspects wore helmets to conceal their identities. Following the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde contacted Salman Khan and Mumbai Police Commissioner. Discussions focused on the actor’s safety, and the Chief Minister recommended enhanced security measures.

Post the incident Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, took responsibility for firing outside Salman’s house. In the Facebook post, Anmol said that it was a trailer to show Salman their might and that ‘don’t consider us less. Consider this as “the last warning.”

For the unversed, Salman Khan has been under Y-Plus security cover since November 2022 due to threats received from gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. He is also authorized to carry a personal firearm and has recently acquired an armored vehicle for additional protection.
