Lust Stories 2 Trailer: Kajol, Tamannaah Bhatia, Mrunal Thakur, Vijay Varma, Neena Gupta, and more showcase the many stories of lust in upcoming anthology

Speaking on the second anthology of Lust Stories, R Balki, says, “Lust is natural and most important in a relationship. It’s critical for all to recognise it. I wanted to create a lust story that a family can watch together. Why should a story of lust always make for exciting solo viewing and be uncomfortable for family viewing when families are created by love and lust? Neena Gupta, Mrunal and Angad have brought to life this simple, hilarious tale in the most charming way possible. Having partners like Netflix, RSVP and Flying Unicorn trust me to create a film for this reputed anthology has been immensely gratifying. I hope it’s a story that will resonate with people.”

Further speaking on it, Konkona Sen Sharma shares, “There is something exhilarating about a woman getting her rightly deserved freedom and taking control of her life and this is exactly what I wanted to showcase in my anthology for Lust Stories 2. I was quite thrilled and excited when I was approached by RSVP, Flying Unicorn, and Netlfix to do this project. Lust for me, like many, is a forbidden topic and I wanted to break away from the norm which was only possible because of my wonderful co-writer Pooja Tolani. I couldn’t have asked for a better cast than Amruta and Tillotama, who worked so in sync with each other!”

Adding on to that, Sujoy Ghosh says, “This time lust stories are all about the different shades of Lust. I am so glad that RSVP, Flying Unicorn, and Netflix brought this opportunity to me, and that our lust story will be watched by audiences in 190 countries. Tamannaah and Vijay brought the film to life just as I had imagined it, and I am hoping audiences will enjoy seeing their chemistry on screen.”

And finally, Amit Ravindernath Sharma, shares, “‘’When Netflix, Ronnie, and Ashi approached me to be a part of their Emmy Nominated anthology Lust Stories, it was an immediate yes for me. It was truly an exceptional experience to work with actors like Kajol and Kumud Mishra to bring this complex and edgy vision of lust to the audiences. Lust has multiple shades and this film of mine depicts the lust for power and ambition’’.

Akshay Kumar says box office numbers do bother him amid multiple flops: I have had many cycles of ups and downs in my life

Akshay Kumar has briefly commented about his array of failures at the box office in the past year. In 2022, the actor faced a string of flops including Bachchhan Paandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, and Ram Setu. Even this year’s Selfiee failed to make any waves at the box office. The actor has now admitted that box office numbers do bother him.

Akshay Kumar says ‘box office numbers’ do bother him amid multiple flops: “I have had many cycles of ups and downs in my life”

In a chat with Financial Express, Akshay was asked about box office numbers and if they bother him, he said, “Of course, they do.” He added, “We are made or we are broken because of the box office numbers. That’s what you call hits and flops. The audiences tell us when we are right and where we are going wrong, and all that is reflected in the box office numbers because if a film does not work, that means people didn’t come to see it, which in turn means that they didn’t connect to it. And it means that’s the time for you to change.”

He added, “I have had many cycles of ups and downs in my life. The one common thing is that when the going’s good there are all praises and when it’s not it’s more criticism than you can imagine. Yes, I am human, and good feels good, and bad feels bad, but I am also proud of the ability I have to move on extremely quickly. What keeps me going is the same will I had on the first day I started work, I love working! And no one can take that away from me! You just have to keep going on, there is no other way. There is a higher power that sees everything and it compounds and gives you back the results of the honest hard work you put in, that’s how I deal with it.”

On the work front, Akshay Kumar will be seen with Parineeti Chopra in The Great Indian Rescue, directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. The film will release on October 5. He also has OMG- Oh My God 2 alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam. The film is slated to release on August 11.

Abhay Deol on Raanjhanaa completing 10 years and glamourisation: The film lost the essence of Aanand L Rais message

This year, Aanand L Rai’s film Raanjhanaa celebrates a decade of journey, and even today the soundtrack by the great music maestro Mr. A. R. Rahman and acclaimed lyricist Irshaad Kamil, is widely played. Raanjhanaa marked the first collaboration between Aanand L Rai and A.R. Rahman. The film stars Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor, and Abhay Deol. Though the film was appreciated back in time, it hasn’t aged gracefully and Abhay Deol agrees.

Abhay Deol on Raanjhanaa completing 10 years and glamourisation: "The film lost the essence of Aanand L Rai's message"

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Abhay Deol said, “The film portrayed things that do happen and was true to the subject. The filmmaker’s motive was also to have empathy and show the evolution of a character. But there is no doubt that there is this formula that Hindi films go for which is to add glamorisation.”

Dhanush played the role of Kundan who pursues Sonam Kapoor’s character Zoya, relentlessly. She dates Jasjeet, played by Abhay Deol. He added, “In the process of glamorising it, the film lost the essence of his message, which was about love and respect and boundaries. That was the intention with which the filmmaker came in. It was quite the opposite of what may have come out purely because we have to glamorize everything in order to make it commercially digestible, but there are some things which cannot be made palatable.”

Back in 2020, Abhay had said that history will not look at the movie kindly for its regressive message. He said, “It’s been a theme in Bollywood for decades, where a boy can (and should), pursue a girl until she relents. Only in cinema does she do that willfully. In reality, we have seen time and again that it leads to sexual violence of some sort. Glorifying it on screen only leads to blaming the victim.”

Sanjay Dutt invests in alcobev startup Cartel & Bros expanding liquor portfolio in India

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has made an investment in Cartel & Bros, an alcobev (alcoholic beverage) startup aiming to import and retail a range of liquor brands in India. The startup’s initial offering is Glenwalk, a blended Scotch whisky imported from Scotland. Future plans include introducing vodka, tequila, and single malt brands.

Sanjay Dutt invests in alcobev startup Cartel & Bros, expanding liquor portfolio in India

Mokksh Sani, one of the five partners of the venture and promoter of liquor retail chain Living Liquidz, revealed that the company has secured a factory lease in Scotland. The aim is to price the products affordably, making them accessible to a broader base of young consumers.

Despite the challenges associated with the regulated alcobev industry, including complex regulations, state-level taxation, and price controls, the team behind Cartel & Bros remains optimistic. Sani acknowledges that while regulations exist in every business, India’s young population is willing to experiment with alcoholic beverages. This optimism is bolstered by India’s status as one of the fastest-growing alcohol markets globally.

Recent data from the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) indicates that India has surpassed France to become the UK’s largest Scotch whisky market in terms of volume. Import of Scotch whisky witnessed a significant 60% surge in 2022 compared to the previous year.

Coming back to Dutt, speaking of his professional front, the 63-year-old actor was last seen in Shamshera, which was released in 2022. He has an interesting line-up with a bunch of projects in his kitty including multi-starrer Baap. Besides this, he will be seen playing a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming flick Jawan, helmed by Atlee Kumar. The film is slated to release on September 7.
