Gen V Trailer: Shapeshifters, blood manipulators, and snow-makers showcase their skills in gore-filled The Boys spinoff

Prime Video released the official teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Amazon Original series Gen V. The series will debut around the world with three episodes on Friday, September 29, followed by weekly episodes, leading up to the epic season finale on Friday, November 3.

The official teaser gives audiences a peek into life at Godolkin University, America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes (run by Vought International). From the world of The Boys comes Gen V, which explores the training of the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, and that their powers were injected into them, rather than God-given. These young, competitive heroes put their physical and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school’s highly coveted top ranking. They quickly come to learn that ambition comes with sacrifice, and the difference between right and wrong is not as clear as they once believed. When the university’s dark secrets come to light, the students must come to grips with what type of heroes they are going to become.

The series cast includes Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Marco Pigossi. Gen V also features guest stars Clancy Brown and Jason Ritter, as well as appearances from Jessie T. Usher, Claudia Doumit, Colby Minifie, and P.J. Byrne, reprising their roles from The Boys.

Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters serve as showrunners and executive producers. Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Craig Rosenberg, Nelson Cragg, Zak Schwartz, Erica Rosbe, and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers on the spinoff series. Serving as co-executive producers are Brant Englestein, Sarah Carbiener, Lisa Kussner, Gabriel Garcia, Aisha Porter-Christie, Judalina Neira, and Loreli Alanís. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios, in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.

Alia Bhatt says Ranveer Singh would put his puffer jacket on her in freezing weather in Kashmir during ‘Tum Kya Mile’ shoot for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt have been busy promoting their upcoming movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Billed as a new era of love, the film is helmed by Karan Johar. The fourth song ‘Dhindhora Baje Re’ was launched in Kolkata as the song features sindoor khela during Durga Puja. The two were accompanied by Tota Roy Chowdhury and Churni Ganguly.

During the conversation with the media on Monday, Alia Bhatt recalled shooting ‘Tum Kya Mile’ in freezing Kashmir. She shared that in-between takes, Ranveer would remove his puffer jackets and put them in on her as she was wearing chiffon sarees. She revealed, “In those conditions, I had to wear chiffon sarees, but what many people don’t realise is that the team takes great care of the actor on the set. You don’t see the heaters around, the leg warmers I had on, and how Ranveer, who was wearing jackets, would keep putting them on me in between takes to provide some respite. But I must praise myself a bit, I am a trooper in that sense. I go with the flow and I am always focused on getting the job done. Wearing a puffer jacket over that chiffon saree would have taken away the beauty, so I was happy doing it as I got to live my dream.”

The anticipation surrounding the film’s world premiere at TIFF 2023 is palpable, as audiences eagerly await the opportunity to witness this compelling tale on the big screen. The Toronto International Film Festival is renowned for showcasing outstanding works of cinema, and Punjab 95 is set to make its mark among global cinephiles. The film is stuck at CBFC and is currently under the proceedings at Bombay High Court.

In the thick of a troubled and hostile decade in Amritsar, in the early 1990s in Punjab, our protagonist Jaswant Singh Khalra, a bank employee and human rights activist lives with his wife – a librarian, and their two little kids. Inclined to stay detached from the hostility that surrounds them, he wanted nothing more than a regular, middle-class existence when his hopes of living such a life are thrown into turmoil when he learns of the disappearance of his late friend’s mother, Bibi Gurpej. And so begins his journey to find his old aunt, and he soon realises that the deeper he digs in his search, the murkier and more dangerous the situation becomes, for him as well as his family.

Helmed by Honey Trehan, Punjab ’95 is produced by Ronnie Screwvala in association with MacGuffin Pictures.

Karan Johar on cinema and OTT changing cultural fabric of society: “All of them expose the vulnerabilities of human beings”

Karan Johar, who is gearing up for his directorial after seven years, was promoting Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani along with Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh at an event as part of India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Back To School series. While interacting with the media and the students at the event, the filmmaker spoke about cinema and OTT content influencing impressionable minds and how it is redefining the cultural fabric of society.

While answering the said question, Karan said, “What a load question to begin with. I have to be critical to answer this from an honest place. I do believe that cinema is a reflection of society and vice-versa. Cinema also draws from society, literally. Sometimes, let’s just say there is an exaggeration in Indian cinema, but a lot of situations depicted on celluloid are actually very close to reality.”

He added, “And as a filmmaker, I have only drawn from human observation. From the observation of the community that surrounds me, the society we live in, the people we interact with, it is very critical that you understand the syntax of your surroundings and only then as a writer or filmmaker you tell the story.”

“Of course, some of us who have grown up in urban India have a certain understanding of those dynamics and relationships, and there are some others, who are privileged, have been exposed to the rest of India and who can tell those stories with equal abundance. I do believe that the content today is definitely broadening the human spectrum of relationships and pushing the envelope, by not sugar-coating it or doing puff pieces of love and romance. We are showing the grey areas, and you have to know, especially as students, that life is way beyond black or white. Walking the path of grey every day, it is not a bad thing, because grey is the actual representation of your vulnerable side, of your true side. And I think whether it’s OTT platforms or new-age cinema, all of them expose the vulnerabilities of human beings and that is the strength of our content today”, Karan concluded.
