While Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon won the Best Actress award respectively, Allu Arjun won Best Actor for Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01. However, Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivii, in which she played the role of J Jayalalithaa, was heavily snubbed. Reacting to the same, the actress took to Instagram stories to share a note about losing out.
On August 24, Kangana Ranaut wrote, “Congratulations to all the winners of #nationalawards2023. It’s such an art carnival that brings all the artists across the country together…It’s truly magical to know and to get introduced to so much important work that’s happening across all languages.”
She added, “All of you who are disappointed that my film Thalaivii didn’t win any…please know I am eternally grateful for whatever Krishna give and didn’t give me and all of you who really love and appreciate me must appreciate my perspective as well…Art is subjective and I truly believe that the jury did their best… I wish everyone the best Hare Krishna.”

The film also won across multiple categories and bagged 4 more awards at the 69th National Film Awards on August 24, 2023. Following the winners’ announcement on Thursday, Kaushal dedicated the award to late Irrfan Khan who was previously supposed to play the role.
Vicky Kaushal shared a poster of the film and wrote, “Congratulations team!!! Honoured and grateful to be a part of #SardarUdham … To Irrfan Sir!”

A sequel to the 2001 release Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, the film helmed by Anil Sharma also stars Utkarsh Sharma. The film entered Rs. 400 crore club at the Indian box office on August 23. However, ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke’ and ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava’ music composer Uttam Singh has slammed the makers.
In an interview with Amar Ujala, Uttam Singh said in Hindi, “They didn’t call me for Gadar 2 and I don’t have the habit of calling and asking for work. They have used two of my songs in the film and I have also heard that they have used the background music that I composed. They should at least have the etiquette to ask me once and talk to me before using my songs in the film.”
After the film crossed Rs. 400 crore mark at the box office, Sunny Deol took to Instagram to share a video to thank the audiences. In the video, he said, “Hello everyone. First and foremost, aap sab ka bahut bahut dhanyawaad. Aapko picture pasand aayi. Maine socha bhi nahi tha. Hum log 400 cross kar chuke hai, aage jaenge. But yeh sab aapke wajah se hua hai, aapko film pasand aayi, Tara Singh pasand aya, Sakeena pasand ayi, pura parivar pasand aya. So, thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Gadar 2 is a story about Tara Singh, Sakeena and their son who gets captured in Pakistan and Tara defies all odds to rescue him.

But this one turned out to be much different that the other films the actor did. This one was an out-and-out laugh riot that was very much in the zone of David Dhawan and Govinda movies of the 1990s. The anticipation for the film’s sequel Dream Girl 2 is also quite high and this can be seen from the decent advance booking the film has generated.
The last time Bollywood Hungama reported, the film had sold around 15,000 tickets for its first day on August 25. The number has gone up now. As per latest updates, Dream Girl 2 has so far sold 26,550 tickets approximately for its first day in the three major multiplex chains of India till today 10:30 am. To break up the figure, the sales have been 14,150 in PVR, 6,300 in Inox and 6100 in Cinepolis.
One should note that these figures are only for the film’s first day on Friday August 25 in the aforementioned three multiplex chains only. It doesn’t contain figures from other multiplexes and single screen theatres of India.
Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, Dream Girl 2 reprises the cast of Ayushmann Khurrana, Annu Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Vijay Raaz and Manjot Singh. The new addition of actors include Ananya Panday, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi and Seema Pahwa.
