The 1989 film The Punisher seems to have taken Netflix by storm lately. Ironically, it is the same platform that gave this iconic anti-hero from Marvel the treatment it deserves, in the form of the Netflix original series based on the character.
Dark Horse comics might just be next in the long line of production houses looking to sell their intellectual property, entirely or parts of it, to major business houses. Dark Horse Entertainment, the television and film arm of Dark Horse Comics, might become a part of a major Hollywood banner or a raging OTT platform like Netflix, Disney+, or Hulu.
Batman: The Animated Series (1992) was arguably the most iconic TV show involving the Caped Crusader. So it was understandably sad when its run ended after 85 episodes in 1995. However, as was recently revealed at the Los Angeles Comic-Con by the actor Kevin Conroy (the iconic voice of Batman) and John Glover (The Riddler), an audio drama that picks up the series from where it ended is currently in the works. This audio drama will bring to life this iconic DC anti-hero in the podcast form.
When Jon Bernthal was announced as Frank Castle/The Punisher in Netflix’s Daredevil season 2, no one envisioned that Bernthal’s explosive performance would go down as one of the best in television history. Initially, there were no further plans for the character, but Jon Bernthal’s compelling portrayal of one of Marvel’s oldest and greatest antiheroes forced the makers to reconsider. Eventually, Bernthal reprised the role in Netflix’s The Punisher, which ran for two seasons from 2017 to 2019 before being abruptly canceled. Since then, the rights to all of Netflix’s Marvel characters have reverted back to Marvel Studios, and fans have been vehemently campaigning to revive the shows Netflix axed.
Netflix has unveiled a teaser for Resident Evil, the streamer's upcoming series based on the iconic video game franchise. While there's a new movie adaptation, Johannes Roberts' Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, that's now playing in theaters, this new series will not be connected. It's also unconnected to the prior movie series with Milla Jovovich, serving as a standalone series that's also inspired by the games.
The hit comedy show Letterkenny just made a very huge announcement that they will be back on Hulu with a brand new tenth season. The official premiere date is set for December 26th, 2021. If you are not familiar with this Canadian comedy, you can catch up on all the seasons which are currently streaming on Hulu.
