KGF – Chapter 2 Box Office Estimate Day 5: Shows an EXTRA ORDINARY hold on Monday; collects Rs. 22.50 crores

KGF Chapter 2 has continued with its extraordinary run at the box office by showcasing a strong hold in collections on Monday. According to early estimates the movie has collected in the range of Rs. 22 to 24 crores on its fifth day to take the total collections to Rs. 212 crore plus.

The film has clocked one of the biggest Mondays of all time, that too on a non holiday. The footfalls on Monday are around 62% of Saturday, though the collections are around 52% of Saturday and this drop has primarily come because of fall in the ticket prices. At weekend rates, the Monday collections would have been in the range of Rs. 25 to 26 crore.

KGF Chapter 2 is headed to become the highest grossing film in the Hindi belts in the pandemic times in just a week, by surpassing the likes of RRR and The Kashmir Files. The opening week of KGF 2 is expected to be around Rs. 260 crore, and the movie will easily go past the Rs. 300 crore club by the end of the second weekend. The target for this Prashanth Neel film will now be to enter the Rs. 400 crore club in the Hindi belts.

It’s the hold in collections on second Friday that would give us a clearer picture on where the film is headed in the long run. The movie is a blockbuster and now it’s the journey towards attaining the all time blockbuster tag. It is poised to be the second highest grosser of all time in the Hindi belts after Dangal (Rs. 385 crore), just below Baahubali 2, which collected Rs. 511 crores.

Anubhav Sinha ropes in Rajkummar Rao to front his short film in the upcoming anthology series after wrapping Bheed

Rajkummar Rao is all set to report to an Anubhav Sinha yet again. This time for a new story! The actor is all set to reunite with his Bheed director in barely a few months’ time since the wrap of their last movie. This time, Sinha will be directing Rao for his short in the upcoming anthology movie. Sinha had recently brought together a bunch of prolific filmmakers – Sudhir Mishra, and Hansal Mehta amongst others for a unique anthology film with the pandemic as a backdrop.

The other short from the anthology is a socio-political drama that spans two generations with the pandemic as the backdrop, which was helmed by Mishra and starred Taapsee Pannu along with Parambrata Chatterjee. The film is co-produced by Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks and Bhushan Kumar of the T-series.

A source tells us, “During Bheed, Sinha connected with Raj and they both felt very strongly about the story. Anubhav felt Raj is someone who understands the film from a personal space and the narrative resonated with him. With Anubhav, casting is key and he almost always knows from the word go who he is envisioning in the role. He felt Raj would be able to create magic with the material and was a perfect choice for the part.”

The film is expected to roll next month and will be shot in North India.

Beatboxing & Flautist duo Divyansh and Manuraj crowned as the winners of India’s Got Talent season 9; win cash prize of Rs. 20 lakh

A show that defines ‘age no bar’ and celebrates talent in its truest form, Sony Entertainment Television’s esteemed talent-based reality show India’s Got Talent has finally come to a nail-biting culmination. From the ‘Gazab Desh Ka Ajab Talent’ that participated in this season, beatboxing and flautist duo – Divyansh and Manuraj from Jaipur and Bharatpur respectively, have been declared the winners of India’s Got Talent – S9! Produced by Fremantle, India’s Got Talent – S9 saw a fabulous Grand Finale with this season’s judges – Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Kirron Kher, Badshah, and Manoj Muntashir enjoying the performances one last time, celebrating the talent wholeheartedly and performing themselves on the stage as well. Comedienne Sugandha Mishra joined the dapper host Arjun Bijlani raising the entertainment quotient ten-fold.

Divyansh & Manuraj were awarded a cheque of Rs. 20 lakh from Sony Entertainment Television followed by Maruti Suzuki Wagon R cars, respectively. From the best 7 Finalists, Ishita Vishwakarma from Jabalpur was declared the first runner-up and the Bomb Fire Crew from Delhi were declared the second runner-up. Each runner was awarded a cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs from Sony Entertainment Television respectively. Last but not the least, Rishabh Chaturvedi from Amritsar, Demolition Crew from Mumbai, Warrior Squad from Gurugram, and BS Reddy from Vizag received Patanjali Kesh Kanti, Denver Déodorant, and Pushp Masale gift hampers.

Ironically both, Divyansh and Manuraj knew each other from before but had never imagined working together. And having been paired together the talented duo created history! Divyansh and Manuraj were known for their amazing jugalbandi on the show that mesmerized both the judges and the audience week after week. Their performances on stage ensured they receive the maximum number of the coveted ‘Golden Buzzer’ from the judges and the celebrity guests as well. The duo surely made a huge impact with their talent and they reiterated the promise of the show week-on-week rightly pointing out that they are truly the ‘Gazab Desh Ka Ajab Talent.’

A visual spectacle in all aspects, the Grand Finale saw the cast of Heropanti 2– Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria, and Nawazuddin Siddique celebrate and appreciate the performances and also take to the stage to groove to the tunes of the contestants. Lock Upp: Munawar Faruqui makes emotional confession to Kangana Ranaut about his mother’s suicide; claims she was beaten up

Sunday night was an emotional one for Lock Upp viewers as Munawar Faruqui opened up about his mother’s death. He confessed in the episode that his mother killed herself. Munawar requested permission from Kangana to tell a story about his mother in the recent episode of Lock Upp. The comedian then recalled a time when his mother consumed acid.

In January 2007, he recalled his grandmother waking him and informing him that something had happened to his mother. As she was rushed to the hospital, his mother was screaming in agony. “She was holding her stomach, and I was holding her hands in mine,” he recalled of that moment.

Munawar claimed that he was not informed of his mother’s death by his family. However, following her transfer to a civil hospital, his grandmother approached him and informed him that his mother had consumed acid. When Munawar requested that she contact the doctors, his grandmother stated, “Hum log problem mein aa jaenge (We’re going to be in trouble).”

Finally, the comedian informed the daughter of his mother’s sister, who is a hospital nurse. She was so taken aback that she immediately began treatment. “It was a Friday afternoon, as I recall. When the doctors asked and forced me to let go of her hand, I realised my mother had died. I’m still reeling from it. I’m constantly wondering what would have happened if I had slept beside my mother that night or if I had arrived at the hospital sooner. According to the doctors, my mother had not eaten in eight days. My mother was dissatisfied with her marriage for the first 22 years. My entire life, I had witnessed her being beaten or fights between my parents,” he stated.

Munawar made a confession that his family was struggling financially. “My mother made chaklis and other household items, but my father and grandmother were quite different. In that household, my mother was not respected. My entire family held her accountable for the marriage of my sister. My mother owed Rs. 3,500. I’m still perplexed as to why I didn’t sleep beside her, why I wasn’t there sooner, and why I didn’t have Rs. 3,500 on hand at the time. My mother’s choice was influenced by a variety of factors. She was a formidable woman. I’m still kicking myself for not asking her when I noticed she’d been quiet for a few days,” he continued.

He explained that this traumatic life-changing event is the reason why he refrains from yelling or fighting with others. He continued by stating that he had never abused anyone. “Perhaps that is why I was in a mentally abusive relationship, but I will not hold anyone accountable,” he said.

Munawar previously stated that he was married and was the father of a child from a previous marriage.

Poonam Pandey and Kaaranvir Bohra, who ar also participants, approached him to console him following his emotional confession, which brought everyone to tears. Zeeshan Khan informed Kangana that he had had a similar experience. “The only thing that struck me hard was that every time I went to the hospital, I prayed that she would make it out alive,” he said. “It just (hurt a lot) to hear a very similar story where it happened this way.”

He clarified, however, that his mother suffered not as a result of his father, but as a result of family members.

BTS announce new album on last day of Las Vegas concert; 200,000 fans attend Permission To Dance stadium shows

Pop titans BTS wrapped up the four nights of ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LAS VEGAS’. After the last stage of the final show, BTS revealed a new video content with a surprise announcement. Showing through the band’s past and present, the video ended with “WE ARE BULLETPROOF” and the date “2022. 06. 10,” indicating a new album release date.

The in-person concerts over four days were attended by a total of approximately 200,000 people. The number of online viewers via live stream reached approximately 402,000 from 182 countries/regions on the final day, April 16. The four-day in-person live broadcast event ‘LIVE PLAY in LAS VEGAS’ held at MGM Grand Garden Arena garnered approximately 22,000 viewers total. Since the stadium has opened, BTS are the only artists to have sold-out approximately 200,000 tickets over four nights.

Since its first show held last October as an online concert, BTS’ tour series ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE’ has hosted 12 shows worldwide including Seoul, LA, and Las Vegas. ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE’ amassed over 4 million attendees/viewers total, across all formats including in-person concerts, virtual live stream, LIVE VIEWING, and LIVE PLAY.

On the last show on April 16, BTS performed 20 songs including “ON,” “Burning Up (FIRE),” “DOPE,” “DNA,” “Blue & Grey,” “Black Swan,” “Blood Sweat & Tears,” “FAKE LOVE,” “Life Goes On,” “Boy With Luv,” “Dynamite,” “Butter,” “Telepathy” and “IDOL.” For the encore of the last day, the members chose “Anpanman” and “Go Go” for the grand finale of the four-day concerts.

In line with the previous series of the tour, ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LAS VEGAS’ also focused on the ‘encounter’ between BTS and fans. The overall stage production was designed to emphasize the band including the setlist composed of all-seven-member songs and props and effects minimized to highlight the performance itself.

‘LIVE PLAY in LAS VEGAS’ at MGM Grand Garden Arena was accompanied by experiential spaces such as BTS PHOTOCARD RANDOM BOX and BTS PHOTO STUDIO for fans to enjoy along with the concert. BTS PHOTO STUDIO, which allowed fans to take an AR photo with BTS and instantly print it as photo cards, was especially well-received by fans. During the show, the actual special effects used on stage delivered fans a more vivid live concert experience.

Closing up the last day of the tour, BTS said, “What we remember most from this show is your cheers. For the past nine years, you are the reason we have been happy.” The septet added, “We won’t forget our show in Las Vegas.” The show closed with the last song, “Permission to Dance.”

What made ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LAS VEGAS’ even more special was ‘THE CITY’ project. Before and after the concerts from April 5 to April 17, ‘THE CITY’ project transformed Las Vegas into “BTS CITY” with various programs ranging entertainment, hospitality and shopping for the fans to enjoy.

With its concept, “urban concert playpark”, ‘THE CITY’ provided various entertainment activations and events throughout the entire city to resemble a theme park, offering fans a more extensive and immersive experience utilizing performance and artists’ IP beyond the concerts.

‘THE CITY’ included: BTS POP-UP: PERMISSION TO DANCE in LAS VEGAS, an experiential pop-up store selling official merch including city exclusive items; BEHIND THE STAGE: PERMISSION TO DANCE, a photo exhibition of the behind-the-scenes of ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE’ concerts and backstage; Bellagio Fountain Show, a spectacular fountain show featuring BTS’ “Dynamite” and “Butter”; CAFÉ IN THE CITY, a dining experience serving BTS’ favorite Korean dishes; BTS Themed Rooms at MGM Resorts’ hotels across the Las Vegas Strip; and more.

During the four days of the concert, Korea Tourism Organization operated a special booth to promote Korean culture. Visited by approximately 13,000 people over four days, the booth offered the audience to experience Hanbok (Korean traditional clothing), experience scents that match each city in Korea, and more. Samyang Foods also opened ‘Buldak Ramen Booth’ with special events, which received around 10,000 participants per day.

SCOOP: Kalank completes 3 years; Karan Johar makes fun of his flop multi-starrer in Varun Dhawan-Kiara Advani starrer Jug Jugg Jeeyo

Kalank, the last big multi-starrer from Bollywood, was released on this day 3 years ago. Starring Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Sonakshi Sinha, the film directed by 2 States (2014) director Abhishek Verman had generated tremendous hype pre-release. This was majorly due to the ensemble star cast and the chartbuster songs by Pritam. Sadly, the Karan Johar production, which opened well, didn’t work at the box office due to a very poor word of mouth. The release of the mammoth Avengers: Endgame (2019) a week later sealed its fate. The film’s lifetime collections were Rs. 80.35 crore.

It has now come to light that Karan Johar and his team have taken a dig at Kalank in their upcoming production, JugJugg Jeeyo. The family entertainer is directed by Raj Mehta of Good Newwz (2019) fame and stars Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Kiara Advani.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “In a scene in the film, two principal characters visit a theatre as they want to talk in private. They chose a cinema hall playing Kalank. The reason for doing so is that they wanted to have a secret discussion. Realizing that Kalank’s shows will be running empty, they decide that it’ll be the ideal place for their tête-à-tête!”

It is, however, not known if Varun Dhawan is one of the two characters who go to watch Kalank in JugJugg Jeeyo. As per the source, this funny scene was shot in Malwa cinema in Patiala, Punjab.

An industry expert told Bollywood Hungama, “It is indeed heartening to see that Karan Johar is making fun of his own flop film. Certain industry people refuse to believe that their film hasn’t worked and blame external factors, including Covid, nowadays. Karan not only acknowledges Kalank’s failure but is also using it as a gag in his own film. There’s a lot to learn from him. Even in his TV show ‘Koffee With Karan’, he allows stars to crack jokes at his expense.”

He further added, “I am sure this scene will be loved by audiences. And if Kalank’s actor Varun Dhawan is a part of this scene, then nothing like it. Kudos to him as well for having no qualms about the joke.”

JugJugg Jeeyo went on floors in 2020-end. It will be released in cinemas on June 24, 2022.
