Karan Johar shares an inside story from Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s mehendi ceremony; Bharti Singh teases him

Karan Johar was one of the few people who attended the intimate wedding ceremony of actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. The actors tied the knot on April 14 and had their mehendi and sangeet functions on April 13. Recently, on the show Hunarbaaz Desh Ki Shaan, Karan recalled a funny incident that took place during the mehendi function. Karan is one of the judges on the show along with Parineeti Chopra and Mithun Chakraborty. Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa are the hosts of the show.

In a recent clip shared by Colors TV, Karan is seen recalling an incident from the wedding after Bharti asks him about the wedding. Bharti told Karan that people were curious as to who wore what at the wedding functions. Commenting on Karan’s pink attire on the Mehendi day, the host said, “Pinky unki ghar aayi lekin pinky aap lagrahe the (She got married but you were all decked up in pink).”

Karan then began narrating the mehendi story and said, “I want to say what happened with me at the mehendi ceremony. I had applied mehendi for the first time. I had thought when Alia will get married I’ll apply mehendi for sure. I had already decided that. I am not used to mehendi on my hand and it was very hot too.”

“Maine mehendi laga di aur phir mai apna paseena pochne laga. Mai bhool gaya mere haathon mei mehendi thi, toh saara mehendi jo hai mere sarr pe, mere maathe pe, mere chehre pe lag gaya. And immediately mujhe wash karna padd gaya (I applied mehendi and then started wiping my sweat. I forgot there was mehendi on my palms and it got smeared on my head, forehead, and face. I had to immediately wash it),” he added.

KJo said, “Waha Puneet hai, jo Alia ki makeup karti hai toh wo andar chali gayi and mujhe pata nahi kya kya lotion daal dia mere chehre pe. Warna poora henna jo hai na mere chehre pe hota (Alia’s makeup artist Puneet was there and she applied lotion on my face. Otherwise the entire mehendi would have been on my face).”

After listening to the story, Bharti said, “Thank God unhone thoda makeup kardiya aur utar gaya warna aesa lagta ki kisi dada ne paan khakar… aese kardiya (Thank God she applied makeup or else it would look like someone had eaten betel leaf and…).”

Kajal Aggarwal reveals the name of her baby boy; shares her birthing experience and the worries of a new mother

Actress Kajal Aggarwal and her husband Gautam Kitchlu welcomed their firstborn- a baby boy- on April 19. On Thursday, Kajal took to her Instagram handle to reveal the name of their child and also shared the experience of the birth of their baby in a note on Instagram.

“Excited and elated to welcome my baby Neil into this world. Our birthing was exhilarating, overwhelming, long, yet the most satisfying experience there could be,” she wrote sharing a picture of herself from her maternity shoot.

“Holding Neil upon my chest covered with white mucous membrane and placenta within seconds of his birth has been my only tryst with self actualisation and such an indescribable feeling! That one moment made me understand the deepest potential of love, made me feel tremendous amount of gratitude and realise the responsibility of my heart outside of my body – forever – and all at the same time,” she added.

“Ofcourse it’s not been easy- 3 sleepless nights that bleed into early mornings, learning to latch and burp, squishy bellies and stretched skin, frozen pads, breast pumps, uncertainty, constant worry if you’re doing it all right, all topped with dozes of anxiety. But it’s also moments like these –
Sweet cuddles in the wee hours of the morning, gazing into each other’s eyes with a look of confident recognition, adorable little kisses, the quiet moments when it’s just the two of us, growing, learning, discovering each other and navigating this wonderful journey together. In reality, postpartum isn’t glamorous but it sure can be beautiful,” she concluded.

Kajal and Gautam got married in October 2020 in Mumbai. Their grand wedding was attended only by family and close friends owing to COVID-19 restrictions.

Akshay Kumar apologises and steps down as brand ambassador of Elaichi brand; says he will donate the endorsement fee

Akshay Kumar, who was roped in as the brand ambassador of Vimal Elaichi a couple of days back has stepped back after facing criticism from his fans. In a recent ad for the brand, Akshay was seen sharing screen with actors Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan, who are also brand ambassadors of the product. While the ad promotes elaichi, it falls under the category of surrogate advertising as the brand is famously known for selling tobacco.

Akshay Kumar’s entry into the Elaichi universe met with severe criticism from fans which has led to the actor cancelling his contract with the brand. The actor issued a statement on Thursday and said that he will be donating his endorsement fee. “I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me,” he stated.

“While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes,” he added.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in the film Prithviraj which also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, and debutant Manushi Chhillar. The historical drama will be released in theatres on June 3. Akshay has multiple films in his kitty including Mission Cinderella, Selfiee, Ram Setu, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and others.

EXCLUSIVE: Mrunal Thakur talks about slapping Shahid Kapoor in Jersey

Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur are currently on the second round of Jersey promotions. After the December postponement of the film, the actors are now gearing up for the release this week.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Mrunal Thakur talks about slapping Shahid Kapoor in the movie Jersey. During a segment called Rapid Fire, the host asked the actress about the number of retakes she had to take to slap Shahid Kapoor in Jersey, to which she replied “Many retakes, I actually couldn’t slap him. It was so difficult for me. I thought how I could slap Shahid Kapoor?”

She chuckled and said, “Shahid was extremely supportive of me slapping him. He asked me to think of my ex-boyfriends and slap him.”

Jersey which is all set to release on April 22, 2022. The movie is about a talented but failed cricketer who decides to return to cricket in his late thirties driven by the desire to represent the Indian cricket team and fulfill his son’s wish for a jersey as a gift.

Director-producer T Rama Rao who made films with Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth passes away at 83

Senior producer-director T Rama Rao passed away on Wednesday, April 20 in Chennai. The 83-year-old who has helmed 70 films in Telugu and Hindi languages breathed his last during the early hours of Wednesday.

T Rama Rao who resided in Chennai’s T Nagar area died at around 12.30 am due to age-related illness. His funeral will be held at Kannamapet crematorium at 4 pm on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife Tatineni Jayashree and children Chamundaeswari, Nag Suseela, and Ajay.

T Rama Rao has also bankrolled several hit films in Tamil. He has worked with some of the biggest stars of the film industry in India. From NTR, Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Sridevi, Jayapradha, to ANR, he has worked with some of the greatest talents of the industry.

He joined the Hindi film industry in 1979 and worked with actors like Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Sanjay Dutt, Govinda, Mithun Chakraborty, Anil Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan. He made movies like Andhaa Kanoon, Ek hi Book, Dosti Dushmani, Insaf Ki Pukar, Muqabla, Jung, among others in Hindi.

In Tamil, he produced films under the banner of Sri Lakshmi Productions and worked with actors like Vijay, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, and Vishal.
