Karan Johar shares glimpse of Ranveer Singh shooting for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, watch video

Karan Johar is all set to make his directorial comeback with the upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film, which stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead, have a dreamy-looking set and every aspect screams that it is indeed a Dharma Productions film. The film is currently on its 91st day and the Singh is shooting in Delhi whereas Alia has wrapped her parts and returned to Mumbai.

Karan Johar on Friday shared a behind-the-scenes video on his Instagram stories where the scene was been set up. Ranveer Singh is in his element inside a car whereas the green car is surrounded by people. You also see Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan in the clip who is serving as an assistant director on the project.

Meanwhile, the team of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani shot a major chunk of the film in Delhi last year. The team recently shot for an elaborate dance sequence in Mumbai, Alia was spotted in a black lehenga while Ranveer was spotted in a neon green kurta for the shoot. The film also stars Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi. The film releases on February 10, 2023.

Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions sign exclusive streaming rights with Amazon Prime Video for Jug Jugg Jeeyo, Govinda Naam Mera, and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani; announces 4 original series

Unveiling its biggest slate to date in India, at its maiden Prime Video Presents India showcase event in Mumbai, Amazon Prime Video on Thursday announced over 40 new titles, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, across original series, original movies, and co-productions that it plans to launch over the next 24 months. Dialing up its strategy of bringing the best and latest movies to consumers across languages, Prime Video announced new multi-year licensing deals and co-productions with some of India’s biggest and most successful studios. Prime video also announced its foray into original movie production in India with films in Hindi and Telugu, to be released directly on the service. The service recently completed half a decade of super-serving customers in India and announced that it will more than double its investment in Prime Video India over the next 5 years. Karan Johar confirmed exclusive streaming rights for Dharma Productions’ next three films and announced four new original series coming on the platform.

Following the success of Shershaah which premiered on Amazon Prime Video, Karan Johar announced that Dharma Productions has signed three-film exclusive streaming deals with the platform for its upcoming slate – Jug Jugg Jeeyo (Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Neetu Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Prajakta Koli), Govinda Naam Mera (Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani) and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani (Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Dimple Kapadia.

One of the four series’ to be announced is Call Me Bae which is about a billionaire fashionista who is disowned by her ultra-rich family, owing to a salacious scandal and for the first time in her life, has to fend for herself. On this journey, she overcomes stereotypes and discovers who she really is. Produced by digital wing Dharmatic Entertainment, the show is written by Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair.

The second series is India Love Project which is a docuseries that shares the inspiring love stories of real people from across the country where each episode tells an unusual yet hopeful story through the eyes of the real couples.

The third one is a film titled Aye Watan…Mere Watan which is inspired by true events, it is the story of a young girl who became uniquely instrumental in the freedom fight for Indian independence. The series is helmed by Kannan Iyer and written by Darab Farooqui.

The fourth project is yet to be announced. Karan took to Instagram to confirm the news, “It’s going to be an entertainment packed year with @dharmamovies & @dharmaticent – in collaboration with @primevideoin. Aamir Khan reveals why he chose to release all songs from Laal Singh Chaddha without visuals; says, “The songs are the soul of the film”

Aamir Khan has finally unveiled the ‘Kahani’ that has been teasing over the past week. On a radio show, the actor unveiled the first musical asset of the much-anticipated film Laal Singh Chaddha. Aamir’s ‘Kahani’ is nothing but the first track from his upcoming film co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan. Directed by Advait Chandan, the film is the official adaptation of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks.

On Thursday, Aamir Khan released the first track from Laal Singh Chaddha through a radio channel. Releasing the track, Aamir said, “Iss dafa, saare gaane jo hai without visuals release honge (This time, all songs will be released without visuals)”. He also added they have not planned on when they will be releasing the tracks with visuals but asked the audience to enjoy the tracks from the film in the audio-only format.

Sung by Mohan Kannan, ‘Kahani’ is composed by Pritam and penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The melodious track is already on repeat mode for audiences who have had the chance to hear the track.

Talking about the song, Aamir said, “I truly believe that the songs in Laal Singh Chaddha are the soul of the film and this album has some of my career’s best songs. It was a very intentional decision to put Pritam, Amitabh, the singers, and technicians in the spotlight because not only do they deserve to be center stage but also the music deserves its due credit. I can’t wait to see how audiences react to the music that the team has poured their heart and soul into.”

‘Kahani‘ from Laal Singh Chaddha is also available to stream on Hungama Music.

Laal Singh Chaddha will be released in theatres on August 11.

KGF – Chapter 2 Box Office: Film beats Tiger Zinda Hai, PK and Sanju; becomes 3rd all-time highest grosser

The much talked about and immensely hyped film KGF – Chapter 2 was released nearly two weeks ago. Starring Yash the film that opened to a thunderous response in both the domestic and overseas markets has been raking in the moolah with each passing day. After recording a collection of over Rs. 50 cr on Day 1, the business of the film witnessed growth rapidly over its opening weekend. In fact, the business of KGF 2 fast crossed not just the Rs. 100 cr mark but the Rs. 200 cr and the Rs. 300 cr mark as well. Now on its 15^th day running, KGF – Chapter 2 has managed to draw in a further Rs. 6.20 cr, taking its total box office collections to Rs. 343.13 cr.

 

In this box office report, we look at the collections of KGF – Chapter 2 while comparing the same to previous releases. Collecting a staggering Rs. 343.13, cr KGF – Chapter 2 has managed to become the third all-time highest grosser to date. In fact, the business of KGF 2 has managed to surpass the collections of previous releases like Sanju which collected Rs. 342.53 cr, PK which collected Rs. 340.8 cr, Tiger Zinda Hai which collected Rs. 339.16 cr, Bajrangi Bhaijaan which collected Rs. 320.34 cr, War which collected Rs. 317.91 cr, Padmaavat which collected Rs. 302.15 cr, and Sultan which had collected Rs. 300.45 cr.

On the other hand, the business of KGF 2 does not manage to come near the collections of the previously released SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion which collected Rs. 510.99 cr and the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal collected Rs. 387.38 cr. However, given the film’s current trend at the box office, KGF – Chapter 2 could easily close the gap to the second place, which is currently occupied by Dangal.

Trade predictions state that KGF – Chapter 2 will continue to see business flourish despite the new releases viz. Runway 34 and Heropanti 2 hitting screens. In fact, this Eid, advance estimates claim that the business of the Yash starrer will certainly see a massive spike in collections making it that much closer to surpassing the overall business of Dangal.

Box Office: KGF: Chapter 2 (Hindi) is now third biggest Hindi grosser ever, should go past Dangal to emerge as second biggest

Yet another set of records have been broken. KGF – Chapter 2 (Hindi) is now the third highest Hindi grosser ever, what with its collections been just next to Baahubali: The Conclusion (Hindi) (Rs. 510.99 crores) and Dangal (Rs. 387.38 crores) now. The film currently stands at Rs. 343.13 crores and in just 14 days has gone past the lifetime score of Sanju (Rs. 342.53 crores), PK (Rs. 340.80 crores) and Tiger Zinda Hai (Rs. 339.25 crores).

After collecting Rs. 7.48 crores on Tuesday, the film dipped a little on Wednesday but was still quite good at Rs. 6.25 crores. The momentum should continue today as well and one can well expect another day in the range of Rs. 5.25-5.50 crores that should take it within breathing distance of Rs. 350 crores before new releases Heropanti 2 and Runway 34 arrive.

Meanwhile, it would be curtains for Jersey this week itself as the film has been hardly collecting and has turned out to be a theatrical reject. The word of mouth hasn’t quite translated into footfalls which can be seen in Wednesday collections as well which were just a little above the Rs. 1 crore mark. Currently standing at Rs. 19.75 crores*, the film will go past the Rs. 20 crores mark but that’s about it. It won’t reach a lifetime of Rs. 25 crores, which is sad since the film deserved at least a double of that even in the worst case scenario.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu turns a year older; to have a working birthday

Samantha Ruth Prabhu had a successful 2021 on the work front, sweeping all the love, appreciation, and awards. Now with 2022, the actor is all set with her upcoming slate of movies including Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Yashoda, and Shakuntalam. Samantha is all set to star opposite Vijay Devarkonda yet again for Shiva Nirvana’s next. Samantha will be soon joining the cast on sets for a month-long schedule. The schedule will take place in Kashmir and this year Samantha will be spending her birthday on the sets of the film.

The source adds, “The team is heading for a long schedule in Kashmir and Samantha will soon join them. It also happens to be her birthday on 28th April and this time around Samantha will be shooting on the day so it’s a working birthday for her.”

“Samantha is a true workaholic like that, she is a very passionate actor and the team feels great to have her part of this project. It’s a rom-com and it would be exciting to see her and Vijay’s chemistry yet again,” the source added.
