The actor is now all set to be seen in the horror comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Interestingly, this film will also be out on May 20! When this writer pointed out this coincidence to the actor during a recent media interaction, he excitedly said, “It’s surreal! When the makers were figuring out when to release Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, May 20 was one of the options. I told them ‘Yehi date pe picture laao theatre mein. Bahut acchi date hai yeh’ (laughs)!”
Kartik further said, “I recently went to YouTube to watch Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’s title track and to see the comments. All of a sudden, I was reminded of the song ‘Ban Gaya Kutta’ from Pyaar Ka Punchnama, and started watching it. It was great to see where I was then and where I have reached now, and how different I looked now.”
In between our interaction, Luv Ranjan, who happened to be at the same venue, came and greeted Kartik warmly. Hence, this writer couldn’t help but ask if both would collaborate again on a project. Luv Ranjan and Kartik worked together on several films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Akaash Vani (2013), Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015) and the Rs. 100 crore grosser, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018). To which Kartik just smiled and replied, “I hope so.”
Coming back to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Kartik Aaryan revealed what made him sign the film. He said, “The character has a naughtiness, which I associate with also. So I could relate to him. His name is Ruhaan and he’s known as Rooh Baba. It’s a character you’d find amongst your friend circle. And there’s another factor, which I can’t talk about (smiles).”
Did he meet real-life babas to prep for the role of Rooh Baba? Kartik Aaryan laughed and replied, “No, I didn’t. When you’d see the film, you’d realize the reason. It’s situational and driven by the storyline, which again, I can’t say much about! So I’d say ki itna ‘baba training’ nahi karni padi (laughs).”
The conversation then steered towards the recent North films vs South films debate. The perception nowadays is that only South films are doing well. Kartik disagreed, “I think, acchi filmein chal rahi hai. Even Gangubai Kathiawadi worked, right? So, it’s about how good a film is.”
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 clashes with Kangana Ranaut’s actioner, Dhaakad. When asked whether he fears that the audience would get divided as a result on May 20, Kartik Aaryan opined, “That won’t happen as the target audience is not the same. The genre of both the movies is different. It’s visible in the trailers. And the scenario today is such that agar kisi film ka business hota hai, toh bahut bada business hota hai. This shows that audiences are going to the cinemas. On May 20, the moviegoers would have the option to watch 2 films. I hope both (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Dhaakad) work at the box office.”

The advance booking of Doctor Strange is higher than the opening day collection of all releases of 2022 barring KGF – Chapter 2, as far as Hindi films are concerned. According to our tracking, the movie has sold tickets worth Rs. 20.15 crores NETT for the opening day.
In terms of absolute value of ticket sales, Doctor Strange has sold around 6.5 lakh tickets for the opening day, of which 65 percent of the ticket sales have come from the three national chains – PVR, INOX and CINEPOLIS. The movie is headed to record one of the biggest openings ever for a Hollywood film.
The advance booking suggests that the opening day of Doctor Strange will be around Rs. 30 crore nett, thereby becoming the second 30 crore opener of the year after KGF – Chapter 2. Interestingly, two of the biggest openers of the year in India will be Non-bollywood films. South has contributed in a big way for Doctor Strange and that happens for all Hollywood films, as they have a huge fan base down South.
The English version is leading from the front followed by Hindi, Telugu and other regional languages. The shows for Doctor Strange start as early as 12.10 am on May 6, and interestingly even those shows are completely sold out!

He is essaying the role of the legendary warrior who fought valiantly against the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor. Given the subject, Yash Raj Films and director Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi wanted the film to be the most authentic representation of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s life and we have confirmed information that Aditya Chopra converted an entire floor of YRF into a research wing for Prithviraj!
Chandraprakash says, “From the word go, we wanted to pay the biggest and the most glorious tribute to Samrat Prithviraj. We did everything necessary to ensure that we were making the most authentic retelling of the life and times of the mighty Hindu warrior! Step one to attempt such an extravagant historical is always research and we wanted to be absolutely thorough and accurate.”
He adds, “I had personally worked on the script from 2004 to 2019 updating the script every year! So, naturally, I had a lot of material that could be used as reference points to write the final draft of the film and it could also be used as additional literature for us and the actors to revisit during the course of making the film. There were several books, variety of costumes that were being used as references, armour and weapons, etc. that were brought into YRF before the filming started.”
He further says, “There were so many items that Aditya Chopra converted an entire floor of YRF into a research wing for Prithviraj. We kept the research bay fully operational till the last day of shoot! Now, we are exploring a plan to showcase all this research work to people and the teams are working to see how best they can display this research so that people understand the magnitude of work that was undertaken to give the best possible salute to the glorious king Prithviraj.”
Akshay Kumar adds, “When I was narrated the film by Dr. Saab, I was taken aback by the amount of research that he has done while writing this film. Writing and directing a historical is not an easy job and I was deeply impressed that he has left no stone unturned to ensure that we are paying the most glorious tribute to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s life and valour. He waited for 18 years of his life nurturing and making Prithviraj the most glorious retelling of the Samrat’s life! I hope that people love this film and it becomes the most authentic reference point for the mighty king’s life.”
Prithviraj has been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is best known for directing the television epic Chanakya and the critically acclaimed film Pinjar. The ethereally gorgeous Manushi Chhillar plays the role of King Prithviraj’s beloved Sanyogita and her launch is definitely one of the most awaited debuts of 2022. The film is set to release on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

But, in his first statement, he didn’t mention that the show will now take the digital route. In his second statement, he confirmed that the season 7 of the chat show will be aired on Disney+ Hotstar. The first guests would be his Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani lead actors Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
According to a report in an outlet, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will kick off season 7 of Koffee With Karan with the shoot scheduled for May 10. Though many expected Bhatt to arrive with her now-husband Ranbir Kapoor, her appearance with Singh is to promote their next film with Karan Johar, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The actress will spill the beans on her wedding, her Hollywood project with Gal Gadot and more. Singh will talk about his upcoming slate of films.
“Koffee with Karan will not be returning…on TV! Because every great story needs a good twist, I’m delighted to announce that Season 7 of Koffee With Karan will stream exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar! The biggest movie stars from across India will return to the couch to spill the beans while drinking some koffee. There will be games, there will be rumours put to rest – and there will be conversations that go deep, about love, loss and everything we’ve all been through over the last few years. Koffee With Karan, ‘steaming’ soon, only on Disney+ Hotstar. Toodles,” Karan said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh will next star in Jayeshbhai Jordaar slated to release on May 13, 2022. Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt will fly off to UK for the shoot of her Hollywood project.
