Drishyam China Box Office Day 27: Collects 80k USD; total collections at 4.18 mil. USD [Rs. 32.30 cr.]

The Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam released 27 days ago at the China box office. After a rather lacklustre start the business of the film in China did not see much of an increase. Unlike previous Bollywood releases in this market, Drishyam has been facing an uphill task at the box office.

Now on Day 27 Drishyam has managed to draw in a further USD 80,000 [Rs. 61.89 lakhs] more taking its total collections at the China box office to USD 4.18 million [Rs. 32.30 cr.]. Unlike previous releases Drishyam has been facing a tough time in China due to sections of the market being under lockdown due to the resurgence of the Covid-19 virus.

Going forward, the business of the film at the China box office is not really expected to see much growth. Trade predictions state that the business of Drishyam will continue to see collections trickling in but will not see much of an increase.

Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus to release on December 23, 2022; first look poster confirms double role

Blockbuster director Rohit Shetty’s highly anticipated Cirkus will have a Christmas release worldwide. The big-ticket entertainer starring Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde, Jaqueline Fernandez, Varun Sharma and a bevy of celebrated actors will hit the big screen worldwide on 23rd December 2022. The director took to his social media to announce the release date of this much awaited film.

Commenting on the development Rohit Shetty shares, “Cirkus is a complete family entertainer. There’s no better time than the Christmas holidays to celebrate the film in Cinemas everywhere.”

Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur starrer Thadam remake titled Gumraah; second shoot schedule begins today

Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur’s previously untitled film, Thadam remake, is now titled Gumraah. Based on true events, the crime thriller features Aditya Roy Kapur will be seen in a double role for the very first time in two completely different avatars and Mrunal Thakur will be seen playing a cop. This thriller film will showcase an intense face-off between Aditya Roy Kapur and Mrunal Thakur.

Aditya Roy Kapur has completed the first schedule and will begin the second schedule today along with Mrunal Thakur who has kick started the second schedule in Mumbai and Ronit Roy will be joining the shoot soon.

Helmed by debutant director Vardhan Ketkar the film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios.

Aamir Khan and ex-wife Reena Dutta’s daughter Ira Khan had a perfect weekend ringing in her birthday with her family and boyfriend Nupur Shikhare. Ira, who turned 25 on Sunday, was seen enjoying her day with poolside party. Her boyfriend gave a glimpse of the bash and cake cutting moments on social media.

Many pictures from the birthday bash have taken over the internet. We have inside pictures in which Ira Khan is seen posing with her boyfriend Nupur Shikhare, cutting cake next to  her parents Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta and step brother Azad Rao Khan and Kiran Rao.

Ira Khan made her directorial debut with a play Medea in 2019.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan will be seen in Laal Singh Chaddha, Indian adaptation of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump. The film will release in August 2022.

Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files banned in Singapore for ‘provocative and one-sided portrayal of Muslims’

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri’s latest flick The Kashmir Files has become one of the most successful films post-pandemic. Made on a reasonable budget, the film did draw mixed reviews amongst masses. While it became a blockbuster in the country, it is reported that The Kashmir Files has been banned in Singapore for ‘provocative and one-sided portrayal of Muslims’.

According to Variety, the IMDA refused classification. The official statement said, “IMDA, in consultation with the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), has assessed the film to have exceeded the Film Classification Guidelines for its provocative and one-sided portrayal of Muslims and the depictions of Hindus being persecuted in the on-going conflict in Kashmir. These representations have the potential to cause enmity between different communities and disrupt social cohesion and religious harmony in Singapore’s multi-racial and multi-religious society.”

Under the Film Classification Guidelines, “any material that is denigrating to racial or religious communities in Singapore” will be refused classification.

The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty among others. It was directed by Vivek Agnihotri.
