Akshay Kumar’s next is Yash Raj Films’ first historical, Samrat Prithviraj, which is based on the life and valour of the fearless and mighty King Prithviraj Chauhan. He is essaying the role of the legendary warrior who fought valiantly to protect India from the merciless invader Muhammad of Ghor in this visual spectacle.

Sonu Sood plays Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan’s best friend Chand Bardai. Chand was also the court poet of the mighty king who chronicled his glorious life in the most authentic manner. Sonu has a huge fan base and his equity is among the best in business due to his incredible philanthropic work. He feels the people of India will be proud of his work in the epic historical.

Sonu says, “I have always wanted to play characters that belong to our history and it has been an honour to play the role of Chand Bardai in this film. Sometimes, as actors, you get an opportunity to relive history and play characters that inspire generations to lead their life with dignity.”

He adds, “Chand Bardai set an example when it comes to honour, friendship, talent and sacrifice. I hope that I make people proud with the role that I’m playing in the film on the glorious life of Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. This film is meant for everyone who loves our country and I’m sure we will entertain everyone thoroughly.”

Samrat Prithviraj has been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. The film is set to release on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Hariharan opens up on the demise of KK; says, “No words seem enough to express my grief and disbelief”

Hariharan cannot believe KK is gone. KK was not only a co-singer in one of both the singers’ most beloved songs he was also a friend. “KK was—it is so impossible to think of him in the past tense—was a soft-spoken gentle soul. All he wanted to do was sing. He had no interest in parties and networking. And he sang with such passion. He could negotiate the highest notes without stumbling. His ability to sing was god sent.”

Hariharan remembers every detail of the recording of ‘Chhor Aaye Hum Woh Galiyan’. “Vishal and Rekha Bhardwaj were there. Gulzar Saab was there. KK, Suresh Wadkar and I were at the mike. It was magical. That song became the signature tune for both KK and I.”

Not many know that KK and Hariharan sang another song together. “That’s right. It was again for Vishal Bhardwaj. But unlike ‘Chhor Aaye Hum’, this one was a comedy song for a film that never got released. KK and I had so much fun singing it. We both had very serious images. That song showed our fun side. I wish people heard it.”

And being a South Indian, KK like Hariharan sang without a trace of an accent. Laughs Hariharan, “That’s true. Hearing us, no one could say which part of India we belonged to. KK listened to a lot of world music. He was a big fan of hard-rock music. To him, singing a Telugu song was no different from singing a Hindi or English song.”

Hariharan is full of admiration for KK’s range. “He had the voice of the film hero. It was filled with youthful romance. KK’s dying is so unnecessary. I know his life could have been saved; 53 is no age to die. I know his wife and children. I don’t know what to say to them. No words seem enough to express my grief and disbelief.”

Boyapati Srinu’s pan-India project with Ram Pothineni launched, see photos

Boyapti Srinu, one of the most successful directors in Telugu industry, has now started his upcoming Pan-Indian film with Ram Pothineni. This movie is going 10th film for the director. After two back-to-back projects, producer Srinivasaa Chhitturi is now producing this film tentatively titled BoyapatiRAPO under Srinivasaa Silver Screens banner. It’s 9th film for the production house. Pavan Kumar is presenting the film.

The coming together of the gigantic three for this pan-Indian project is being viewed as a mammoth combination. The yet-to-be-titled movie was formally launched with a ‘muhurat’ (customary) pooja in Hyderabad on June 1st, Wednesday. The team and many celebrities were in attendance for this launch event.

Burugupalli Siva Ramakrishna switched on the camera, first clap was done by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore garu and first shot was directed by Boyapati Srinu. Script handover was done by The Warriorr director N Linguswamy and director Venkat Prabhu.

Talking about the collaboration, Srinivasaa Chhitturi said, “We are delighted to present the film, helmed by Boyapati Sreenu. It’s a pleasure to work with our hero Ram Pothineni again so soon after The Warriorr. It is prestigious film coming from our banner. We are producing this film with high technical standards and a bigger budget. We intend to release the film worldwide in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.”

Boyapati Sreenu has come up with a superb story loaded with mass elements that have thrilled both the producer and the actor. More details about the film, including its heroine and other members of the cast and crew, will be made in the near future.

Johnny Depp wins defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard; Aquaman actress ordered to pay $15 million in abuse claims

As the highly publicized defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard wrapped up on May 27, a virginia jury awarded Johnny Depp $15 million in the defamation suit against Amber Heard on June 1, 2022. The jury ruled in Depp’s favour in three claims that Heard’s op-ed in The Washington Post defamed him when she called herself a surviour of domestic abuse.

“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words,” Heard said in a statement. “I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.”

Heard added, “I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously.”

Depp, in a lengthy statement, said that he got his life back after six years. “Six year ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me and also the lives of the people, who for many, many years have supported and believed in me, were forever changed. All in the blink of an eye,” Depp said. “False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me. It had already travelled around the world twice within a millisecond and it had a seismic impact on my life and career. And six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled.”

He added, “My decision to pursue this case, knowing very well the height of the legal hurdles that I would be facing and the inevitable, worldwide spectacle into my life, was made only after considerable thought. From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome […] I feel at peace knowing I have accomplished that.”

For the unversed, Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for $50 million over a 2018 Washington Post op-ed in which she described herself as a victim of domestic violence. Heard counter-sued for $100 million claiming that his denials of her accusations have in turn damaged her career.

Singer KK’s preliminary autopsy reveals no foul play

In one of the most tragic news coming in from the music industry, popular Indian singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, who was known as KK, passed away on May 31 after reportedly suffering from a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to a private hospital in the city after his concert, where he was pronounced dead. He was 53. KK’s untimely demise has sent shockwaves across the nation. An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday. While the officials will have to wait for the final report, which will be available after 72 hours, the preliminary findings rule out foul play.

“The initial report suggested that the singer died because of myocardial infarction. There was no foul play behind his death. Clinical examination also found that the singer was having prolonged cardiac issues,” the officer said, according to Indian Express.

According to the reports, a case of unnatural death was registered at the New Market police station following the demise of the singer. KK, on Tuesday, performed at the Nazrul Mancha auditorium till 8:30 pm. He fell ill suddenly following which he returned to his hotel. When his condition worsened at the Grand Hotel, he was rushed to the hospital in Kolkata and was pronounced dead.

The autopsy was conducted at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday. The police will also check the CCTV footage at the hotel and talk to the staff and event organizers.

KK recorded songs in several languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali, among other languages. He sang several popular songs including ‘Yaaron’, ‘Pal’, ‘Tu Hai Aasman Mein’, ‘Khuda Jaane’ among others.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Box Office: Film emerges as fourth highest second Tuesday grosser of 2022

The Kartik Aaryan – Kiara Advani starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was released a while back and since then the film has been unstoppable at the box office. After opening on a good note with Rs. 14.11 cr coming in the Anees Bazmee directorial that released across 3200 screens in India crossed the Rs. 50 cr mark by the end of its opening weekend. Following this, in its first week running the Bhushan Kumar – Murad Khetani production has managed to hold its own at the ticket window. Now, on its second Tuesday running, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has seen a decent spate of collections.

In this box office report, we look at the collections of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 on its second Tuesday while comparing the same to previous releases of 2022. Collecting Rs. 4.85 cr Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has emerged as the fourth-highest second Tuesday grosser of 2022. Preceded by releases like The Kashmir Files which collected Rs. 10.25 cr, KGF – Chapter 2 which collected Rs. 7.48 cr, and RRR which collected Rs. 6.50 cr, the Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has on the other hand surpassed the Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi which had collected Rs. 4.01 cr.

Going forward, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 continues to enjoy the audiences’ favour and is expected to see its business growth further as the week progresses. At the current momentum, with the film’s collections crossing Rs. 133.09 cr, it is estimated to cross the Rs. 150 cr mark by the end of the week.
