World Environment Day Special: NH Studioz announces biopic on Dr. Binish Desai, India’s legendary ‘Recycle Man’

Can a single soul change the planet? A ten year old child thought so, and thus began the inspirational journey of India’s ‘Recycle Man’. Dr. Binish Desai’s life is a path breaking story of determination, and on the occasion of World Environment Day, NH Studioz has announced that it will now bring this powerful tale to the big screen.

The untitled film will be an extensive biopic on Dr. Desai that begins from his childhood and progresses to his experiences as a young environmentalist. NH Studioz has officially secured the rights for the motion picture. Sources close to the team reveal that the makers are looking at a young and rising face for the titular role. This will be Hindi cinema’s first attempt at a film that talks about eliminating waste and building a greener country. Another unique aspect of the project is that it will focus on sustainability, with a carbon negative approach and other responsible measures for the shoot conceptualized by Dr. Desai himself.

Talking about the film, Dr. Binish Desai said, “This movie is for every young kid to know that no matter what your age is or where you come from, if you have an idea go for it. Life is all about failures and how we learn from it to overcome obstacles and make our dreams a reality. My journey is not about what I achieved but the challenges, failures and obstacles that came in the way, may it be losing everything, being on a gunpoint or being called mad for working with waste. Despite facing all of these, a boy was able to follow his dreams and make it a reality”.

Elaborating on why he chose to make this film, producer Shreyans Hirawat of NH Studioz added, “While the movie is about a young man’s journey towards saving our planet – at its core it is an inspiration for the new gen, as to how one can fulfill dreams at any age even without any means, from the remotest places possible.”

From a ten year old boy with a dream to a man who made that dream come true, Dr. Binish’s life is one that will make every Indian proud. Seems like audiences have a spellbinding biopic to look forward to!

Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Richa Chadha and other celebs slam a perfume ad for promoting gang-rape culture

In a country where women are still trying to find their foot and where actresses are still fighting for equal pay, sexual harassment and other issues, a certain perfume ad has created uproar. An ad for a perfume brand called ‘SHOT’ recently came under the limelight for all the wrong reasons. Many celebrities, who spotted the ad, took to social media to slammed it and called it a ‘disgusting promotion’ of rape culture. From Priyanka Chopra to Farhan Akhtar along with Richa Chadha, Swara Bhaskar, Sona Mohapatra, has voiced their opinion regarding the cringe-worthy ad.

Priyanka Chopra took to Twitter to speak on the ad saying, “Shameful and disgusting. How many levels of clearances did it take for this commercial to be green lit. How many people thought this was ok? I’m so glad that it was called out and now the ministry has taken it down. Appalling!” On the other hand, Farhan Akhtar too added, “What incredibly tasteless and twisted minds it must take to think up, approve and create these stinking body spray ‘gang rape’ innuendo ads..!! Shameful.”

Besides the stars of The Sky Is Pink, actress Richa Chadha said, “This ad is not an accident. To make an ad, a brand goes through several layers of decision making. Creatives, script, agency, client, casting… DOES EVERYONE THINK RAPE IS A JOKE? Revelatory! This brand, the agency that made this ad need to be sued for the filth they’re serving.”  Voicing out a similar opinion was Swara Bhaskar, “A teenage girl was gang raped in Hyderabad-such incidents happen daily in India.. companies like @layerr_shot choose to make TV adverts joking abt & ‘cool-ifying’ rape & gangrape. Beyond disgusting! Not just tone deaf, also criminal! Absolutely shameful! What agency created it?”

Singer Sona Mohapatra, who has always spoken against the rules of patriarchy, went on to write, “Theme – Gang-rape. Gagging after I saw it here on my twitter timeline & wondering if giving them additional publicity is worse.”

On the other hand, the Ministry of Broadcasting has asked social media and the brand to take down the ads from all sites.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Box Office: Film collects Rs. 4.55 cr on Day 16; ranks as fourth highest third Saturday grosser of 2022

The Kartik Aaryan – Kiara Advani starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was released over two weeks ago, and since then the film has been holding steady at the box office. In fact, the Anees Bazmee directorial which opened on a good note saw its collections grow exponentially over its opening weekend managing to make it across the Rs. 50 cr make in just three days. Going further the Bhushan Kumar – Murad Khetani produced venture which hit 3200 screens in India managed to cross the Rs. 100 cr mark as well. Now on its third weekend running Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is set to cross the Rs. 150 cr mark.

In this box office report, we look at the third Saturday collection of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 while comparing the same to previous releases of 2022. Collecting Rs. 4.55 cr, the Kartik Aaryan starrer has managed to surpass the Alia Bhatt film Gangubai Kathiawadi which had collected Rs. 4.25 cr. With this, the film now ranks as the fourth-highest third Saturday grosser of 2022. Though leading the list are previous releases like The Kashmir Files which collected Rs. 7.60 cr, RRR which collected Rs. 7.50 cr and KGF – Chapter 2 which collected Rs. 7.25 cr, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 essentially ranks as the second-highest on this list when compared to only non-dubbed Hindi Bollywood releases.

If that was not enough, when compared to the highest all-time third Saturday grosses, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 enters the Top 20 list surpassing releases like Simmba which collected Rs. 4.51 cr, Super 30 which collected Rs. 4.47 cr and Baahubali – The Beginning which collected Rs. 4.35 cr.

Going forward, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 faces stiff competition at the box office this weekend with three releases hitting screens. However, the film has continued its march and is certain to cross the Rs. 150 cr mark today.

Winners of IIFA Awards 2022: Vicky Kaushal and Kriti Sanon win top honours for Sardar Udham and Mimi

The recently culminated IFFA 2022 weekend which was held in Abu Dhabi saw the who’s who of the industry in attendance. From big industry names like Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan, A R Rahman to the younger generation of actors including Vicky Kaushal, Kriti Sanon, Ananya Panday, Sara Ali Khan were seen gracing the glitzy event. EXCLUSIVE: Sooryavansham-Set MAX’s LEGENDARY association to end in 2024-25; Manish Shah of Goldmines Telefilms says “Once the rights lapse, I’ll play the film on Goldmines Bollywood. I am not selling the rights to Set Max again”

One film that has become synonymous with SET MAX, is Sooryavansham. The rights of the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer rests with the popular television channel, which plays the film rather repeatedly. This is because Sooryavansham is a cult movie that enjoys widespread viewership. The netizens noticed how this 23-year-old movie gets prominence on Set MAX and soon, jokes and memes about this began spreading like wildfire. Its dialogues and the ‘zehreeli kheer’ scene especially became legendary in the world of memes.

When IPL airs on Set MAX, airing of Sooryavansham’s gets affected. Hence, as soon as IPL would end or is about to end, social media is abuzz with memes and messages that Heera Thakur (the name of one of the characters of Amitabh Bachchan) is making a solid comeback on Set MAX! What’s also funny is that despite IPL moving to Star Network, the Sooryavansham-Set MAX jokes continued during the IPL season!LEGENDARY

Bollywood Hungama has now exclusively learnt that the historic association between Sooryavansham and Set MAX is about to end in a few years. Manish Shah, of Goldmines Telefilms won the rights of Sooryavansham, in 2020. The first thing he did was upload the film on his very popular Goldmines Telefilms’s YouTube channel. In around 1 ½ years, the film has garnered nearly mind boggling 31 crore views and counting.

Manish Shah’s next step is to air Sooryavansham on his Bollywood TV channel, called Dhinchak Bollywood. In an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama on Sooryavansham’s 23rd anniversary, he revealed, “Sony Entertainment Television holds the satellite rights of Sooryavansham till 2024 or 2025. Once the rights lapse, I’ll play it on my channel, Goldmines Bollywood! I am not selling the rights to SET MAX again.”

Besides Amitabh Bachchan in a double role, the late Soundarya, Jayasudha, Anupam Kher, Kader Khan, Shivaji Satam, Bindu and Mukesh Rishi also star in this film, which is directed by E V V Satyanarayana.

Navya Nanda wishes grandparents Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan with rare throwback images

Just yesterday veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan celebrate their 49^th marriage anniversary. While there wasn’t much happening to mark the occasion, the two veteran actors grandchild Navya Nanda decided to give Bachchan fans a treat by sharing some rare throwback images of the couple.

Uploading the images to Instagram stories Navya simply posted, “Happy Anniversary”. While the first image featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan sees the latter hiding her face, the second one sees the two sharing a laugh from their younger days. The third image in the set was of a more recent vacation taken with Jaya posing for the camera while hugging Amitabh Bachchan.

Bachchan too took to Instagram sharing a throwback image from his wedding day saying, “जया और मेरी, विवाह जयंती पे जो स्नेह और आदर प्रदान किया गया है उसके लिए हाथ जोड़ कर प्रणाम करता हूँ । धनयवाद ! सब को उत्तर न दे पाएँगे, इस लिए यहाँ प्रतिक्रिया, प्रतिवचन , स्वीकार करें”
