Farhan Akhtar gives a shoutout to Ms. Marvel ahead of premiere – “Proud to be part of their conscious inclusiveness”

Filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar will be seen in his first international project Ms. Marvel, Disney+ Hotstar’s first Muslim superhero series which premieres today. The actor-musician will be a part of the series which introduces Iman Vellani and also includes names like Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha.

Farhan Akhtar will be seen in an undisclosed role. Ahead of the premiere, the actor-filmmaker started his note by writing, “The post is in appreciation of the creators, the directors and all those in front and behind the camera, who collaborated to make Ms Marvel what it is. It is in appreciation of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy for her guidance through my days of working on it.”

It continued, “It is in appreciation of Marvel. I’m proud to be part of their conscious inclusiveness. This show is a celebration of diversity and it certainly will bring joy and pride of self-identity to millions of young girls and boys of the sub-continent. And last but not least, it is in appreciation of the wonderfully talented Iman Vellani. Be prepared to be thoroughly entertained and effortlessly charmed by her. Thank you and good luck, Team Ms Marvel.”

Created by Bisha K. Ali, the Disney+ miniseries will introduce us to Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American from Jersey City fascinated by the Avengers, who looks up to Captain Marvel in particular, as she becomes imbued with shape-shifting powers.

As created by G. Willow Wilson, Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, and Adrian Alphona in the comics, Kamala has a relatively unique set of superpowers. While Kamala Khan’s powers in the comics consist of stretching, shrinking and growing, the trailer shows the new hero shooting purple cosmic energy beams, forming shields, manifesting a giant fist in a nod to her comic book counterpart and the kind of midair stepping stones previously seen in Doctor Strange films.

On home turf, Farhan Akhtar is helming Jee Le Zaraa starring Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. If that wasn’t all, his production house with Ritesh Sidhwani , Excel Entertainment has a multi-year partnership with Netflix.

Alia Bhatt’s Hollywood film shoot saved her from Covid attack at Karan Johar’s birthday bash

Alia Bhatt missed Karan Johar’s 50th birthday party on May 25, and has seemingly avoided getting infected with COVID.

She left for shooting her first Hollywood film Heart Of Stone just days before the party. While she may have been one of the invitees among several A-listers present that evening, her work schedule did not allow her to be part of the grand celebrations.

However once at the shooting in England, Alia was not allowed to return to India.

“The rules of international shooting are different. Once the team groups on a location no one is allowed to leave. Whether Alia was required for shooting on the day of Karan Johar’s birthday or not, she was not allowed to make that flying visit,” informs a source.

The travel restrictions for Alia may just have been the saviour for her, considering the number of guests at Karan Johar’s party who were infected by COVID.

Among several celebrities who attended the Karan Johar’s bling, red-carpet themed party, Katrina Kaif and Shah Rukh Khan have reportedly tested COVID positive.

Dharmendra quashes hospitalization rumours in true ‘Dharamji’ style

For fans of Dharmendra who were worried about the superstar after rumours of him being hospitalized started doing the rounds. However, in his true-blue ‘Dharamji’ style, the veteran star took to social media to quash the rumours and even spread the message of love and good health for his fans. As many of them expressed concern over his health, the veteran actor came on record to set it straight, while requesting fans to stay away and not believe in rumours.

Sharing a video of him sitting on a couch, Dharmendra interacted with is fans via this video which he captioned, “Friends, With Love to you all.” The video started off with Dharmendra advising fans and followers to ‘be positive, think positive, life will be positive’.” He went on to add, “Main chup hoon main beemar nahi. Kuch na kuch baat chalti rehti hai, hawa (afwa) udati rehti hai. Woh tha na mera gaana ‘bura mat sunno, bura mat dekho, bura mat kaho.’ (Transl. I am quiet, not sick. Rumours keep spreading but you always remember one of my songs) The song in question is from the Dharmendra starrer 1969 film Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke, which was originally sung by the legendary singer Mohammed Rafi.

He further went on to request his fans to support each other by saying, “Take care, love each other, be good to each other, life will be beautiful.”

Couple of days ago, rumours were rife that veteran actor Dharmendra was admitted in Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and is in critical condition. However, the reports were soon quashed by not just Dharmendra but his second son Bobby Deol too had confirmed that his father is doing well and is at home.

Here’s why Salman Khan renamed Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali to Bhaijaan

About a year ago in May 2021, Bollywood Hungama was the first to report that the Salman Khan starrer Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali had undergone a title change. In fact, the film, which was being bankrolled by Sajid Nadiadwala had been rechristened as Bhaijaan. However, since then there have been a number of changes to the film, from Nadiadwala opting out of the project, to Salman Khan taking over the production reins to even Aayush Sharma opting out. Despite the numerous changes, Salman has is going ahead with the film, that will now feature a new cast.

Now, as the crew commences work on Bhaijaan, a well-placed industry source reveals why the film underwent a title change. “Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali started shooting on Salman’s farm on the outskirts of Mumbai last month, and now the title has been changed to a shorter Bhaijaan. The reason behind this is the fact that, Bhaijaan is the affectionate name fans use for Salman. In fact, Bhaijaan was the title Salman wanted for this particular project, a family saga of patriarchal family where the eldest son lords over the rest of the family.”

Further talking about the reason the source continues, “Salman’s role in the film is similar to the one he plays in real life in his own family. Salman Khan, in all his wisdom, has decided to eponymously name the film after his own character.”

Interestingly, excited fans have already begun questioning whether Bhaijaan is a sequel to Mr Khan’s 2018 blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan. In more of a titular franchise, like Akshay Kumar’s Khiladi series, post Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Bhaijaan, will there be a Bhaijaan Returns, Kya Baat Bhaijaan and Wah Bhaijaan?

The actress, during the launch of their Eden the Garden of Wonders in Paris, met the popular Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway and BLACKPINK singer Lisa. During the same, as the women bonded on many things, the trio came together for a selfie.

Sharing the photo with Anne Hathaway and Lisa on her Instagram handle, Priyanka Chopra said, “nd then there was us.. girls just wanna have fun! @bulgari @lalalalisa_m @annehathaway.” Priyanka Chopra was roped in by Bulgari for their latest launch of Unexpected Wonders along with Lisa. In fact, several videos and photos from the Bulgari event held in Paris have been doing the rounds on social media where we can our PC bonding Anne and Lisa. PC’s husband Nick Jonas too commented on the photo by dropping fire and smile emojis, “????????????”. The brand Bulgari too commented on the photo adding, “Perfect trio So proud we had you with us for the unveiling of our new High Jewelry collection!”
