Saira Banu breaks down remembering late Dilip Kumar as she accepts Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar Award for him, watch video

Veteran actress Saira Banu was seemingly emotional and broke into tears on Tuesday after she accepted the Bharat Ratna Dr Ambedkar Award for her late husband, actor Dilip Kumar. Saira and Dilip were married for 55 years before the veteran actor passed away in July 2021.

Calling him her ‘Kohinoor’ (diamond), the actress was seen accepting the award on behalf of her late husband. Talking about a Bharat Ratna, Saira said, “It should happen, because Dilip Sahab has been the ‘Kohinoor’ for Hindustan. So ‘Kohinoor’ should definitely receive a Bharat Ratna.” She repeated, “He’s still here. He is not in my memories, I believe it’s the truth that he is here with me at every step, because this is how I will be able to live my life. I will never think that he’s not here. Wo mere paas hain, hamesha mera sahara banke rahenge– mera Kohinoor (He is with me, will always be here as my pillar of support- my Kohinoor).”

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama some years ago, Saira had said, “For me, it was always Saab, no one else. I was his fan from the time I can remember. While still a teenager, I wanted to be his wife. I am very headstrong and once I made up my mind, there was no stopping me. I knew many beautiful women wanted to marry Saab, but he chose me. It was my dream come true and that’s what my marriage has been, a perfect dream. Looking after Saab, his life and his home comes naturally to me. Saab never asked me to give up my career. In fact, he encouraged me to continue after marriage. But, after a while, my heart was not in my career. I just wanted to take care of Saab. Our marriage is the most important thing in my life. I do not miss having a child because Saab is like a child at heart. I am not being a martyr when I say I don’t regret putting my career on the backburner. He could have married anyone, any woman he wanted. He chose me. I consider myself very fortunate. I always call him the Kohinoor of the film industry. I am lucky to be so close to him for so many years. I could not have chosen a better life. I cannot imagine any other life for me.I guess if I was chosen to be his wife, I must be special. Unki biwi hone ke liye caliber honi chahiye (to be his wife one needed to be of some caliber). But seriously, all Indian wives look after their husbands. In my family, I have seen women being devoted to their husbands. I grew up watching that.”

Michelle Yeoh to headline Netflix gangster drama series The Brothers Sun; other cast members revealed

Michelle Yeoh is set to headline the Netflix series The Brothers Sun. The Everything Everywhere All at Once actress will play shrewd and observant, Eileen Sun aka Mama Sun who has built a new life for herself and her son in Los Angeles far from her past in Taiwan. Joining her in the series are Justin Chien, Sam Song Li, Highdee Kuan, and Joon Lee Join as series regulars in the Brad Falchuk & Byron Wu’s Asian American Drama.

Justin Chien will essay the role of Charles Sun, the elder son of a crime boss, groomed to be a hardened criminal. He goes to Los Angeles to protect his mother and younger brother but finds himself torn between the life he’s been raised in and the life he could make for himself. Sam Song Li will play Bruce Sun who came to the states as a kid with little memory of Taipei and no idea of his family’s past. When his infamous and respected brother shows up on his doorstep, Bruce is thrown into a world that he is vastly unprepared for.

Highdee Kuan has been roped in to play Alexis. Driven and ambitious, Alexis grew up with a strong sense of justice and work ethic which resulted in her becoming an assistant DA. Joon Lee will play TK, an aspiring gangster and Bruce’s best friend since childhood. He wishes he was tough, loyal, and smart – but he isn’t. But that doesn’t stop him from trying.

Also joining the cast in recurring roles will be Alice Hewkin as May/June, Jon XueZhang as Blood Boots, Jenny Yang as Xing, Madison Hu as Grace, and Rodney To as Mark.

The Brothers Sun is an action-packed, a dark comedic drama, and family soap. The eight-episode series is set in Los Angeles and Taiwan. It is uniquely distinct, featuring an all-Asian writers’ room and an all-Asian cast. It follows Taipei gangster, Charles Sun, who’s settled into his life as a ruthless killer. But when his father is shot by a mysterious assassin, Charles must go to L.A. to protect his mother and utterly-unaware younger brother Bruce.

The Brothers Sun is under Brad Falchuk’s deal at Netflix, through his company Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision. He will serve as Showrunner and Co-Creator with Byron Wu. Falchuk and Wu serve as Executive Producers with Mikkel Bondesen and Kevin Tancharoen who is also on board as director.

Parineeti Chopra is breath-taking beauty in Arpita Mehta’s pink sharara set worth Rs. 85,000

She accessorized with a statement ring and an oxidized choker set. She wore berry pink lipstick, nude eye-shadow, on-point eyeliner, and glowing skin for her makeup. Her hair was styled in gentle waves and left open.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Parineeti will be next seen in Unchai alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher. She is also all set to star in filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming movie Chamkila. The film marks the first collaboration between Parineeti and Imtiaz

Manav Vij, Rajat Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan among others to star in Tanaav, Indian remake of Israeli series Fauda

Applause Entertainment, the content studio of the Aditya Birla Group is all set to reimagine and retell a story of conflict and struggle, with the Indian adaptation of the globally acclaimed Israeli drama series Fauda. Hailed as one of the best Israeli shows, the Indian version of Fauda, produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Applause Productions, is titled Tanaav (meaning: tension, chaos, stress). BTS’ V, Park Seo Joon, Choi Woo Shik, Park Hyung Sik and Peakboy to feature in new variety show In the SOOP: Friendship Trip

It’s happening – the elite WOOGA Squad is reuniting! South Korean juggernaut BTS member V [Kim Taehyung] will embark on a friendship trip with his actor-musician friends Park Seo Joon, Choi Woo Shik, Park Hyung Sik, and Peakboy in In The SOOP series. The show has earlier featured South Korean groups BTS and SEVENTEEN. The spin-off series, titled In the SOOP: Friendship Trip, will feature the musician along with his best friends.

In the SOOP: Friendship Trip will be a four-episode variety show showing the close friendship between the five celebrities who embark on a trip together. The series is set to premiere in July via the JTBC network and also on the global OTT platform.

For unversed, BTS’ V made his acting debut in the Korean historical drama Hwarang which was led by Park Seo Joon with Park Hyung Sik as the second lead. Park Seo Joon and Choi Woo Shik worked together in the drama Fight For My Way and Shut Up Family. Peakboy is featured on V’s song ‘Snow Flower’ and all four of them featured in the music video ‘Gyopo Hair’. Last year, they even came together for Choi Woo Shik’s online fan meeting “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” to celebrate his 10th debut anniversary. BTS’ V has crooned OST for Park Seo Joon’s drama Itaewon Class and Choi Woo Shik’s last series Our Beloved Summer.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Park Hyung Sik was recently seen in Soundtrack #1 with Han So Hee. Park Seo Joon recently wrapped the shoot for Dream with IU. He will also make his Marvel debut with The Marvels. Choi Woo Shik was last seen in Our Beloved Summer with Kim Da Mi. BTS’ V is currently promoting the group’s latest release Proof.
