Koffee With Karan 7: Akshay Kumar speaks about combatting nepotism: ‘I didn’t even know the meaning; I asked my wife’

Filmmaker Karan Johar is back on the coffee couch! Season 7 of Koffee With Karan kicked off on Disney+ Hotstar with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt followed by actresses Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan as guests in the second episode. As the buzz around the show increases, the Koffee With Karan couch saw Akshay Kumar and Samantha Ruth Prabhu bring lively potboiler of glamour, secrets and witty one-liners.

When Karan Johar asked Akshay Kumar, “Do you think you combatted nepotism?” He said he didn’t even what the word meant when he came in the industry. “I didn’t even know meaning of nepotism. I asked my wife (Twinkle Khanna) then she explained it to me. Then I saw the whole fighting. When I came in the industry, I had no idea, I just wanted to earn money.”

Akshay Kumar recalled he was getting paid Rs. 5,000 for teaching martial arts but when he got an ad shoot, he got paid Rs. 21,000 for two hours of work.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in Aanand L Rai’s next directorial, Raksha Bandhan. The film will release on 11th August.

On the talk show, the actor spoke about doing a 7-hero film once and it was Jaani Dushman. Talking about how his character comes back from dead and how hilarious it was see it, the actor said, “I was working on a per-day basis and there was a scene where the villain kills me and I am dead. I got to know that the other hero who is going to be acting now, got stuck in New York and could not make it in time. I went up to the director and asked him if I had to come back again.” The actor was Sunny Deol and he was stuck due to some health issue.

“You won’t believe it, today where I stay, I needed money to buy that place, and Jaani Dushman got me the money to buy my house,” he quipped. Karan and Samantha could not stop laughing.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in Aanand L Rai’s next directorial, Raksha Bandhan. The film will release on 11th August.

Vijay Deverakonda drops the much awaited trailer of his upcoming next, Liger!

Vijay Deverakonda’s highly anticipated trailer for his upcoming Pan India film, Liger is now out and it is bigger and more exciting than anything you expected. Starring the young man as a professional MMA fighter, the trailer has it all from action to romance to drama with a heart-thumping musical score and impeccable dialogue delivery by Vijay as it seems all set to be the trailer of the year.

Rocking a set of perfect washboard abs and long hair, the Crossbreed gets down to action as a fighter in this power-packed trailer with a pumping background score and a stammering Vijay delivering “I Love You” with max feels that will make you want to watch the film right away if you could.

The audience had been waiting anxiously for this trailer ever since the first glimpse of Liger made the rounds on social media. The buzz took a completely different high with the second and unique poster of the film featuring Vijay all nude, covered with a bunch of roses, which set unprecedented records hitting the fastest 1 million likes and trending on social media for longer than 24 hours as the Sexiest Poster Ever. He left all impressed then with his silky smooth and extremely energetic dance moves in the electrifying mass number, ‘Akdi Pakdi’.

Now the trailer has finally arrived and only seems to be taking all the excitement to unseen highs for the Vijay Deverakonda film that is all set to hit the big screens on August 25, 2022. The Puri Jagannadh directorial also stars Ramya Krishnan and Ananya Panday in pivotal roles.

Box Office: Shabaash Mithu is a commercial disaster; lifetime collections to be in the same range as Kangana Ranaut’s Dhaakad

Unfortunately, for the Hindi film industry, there is yet another big commercial disaster to have arrived at the box office. Shabaash Mithu is yet another Hindi film that has found no takers in theatres and would fold up much sooner and at much lesser than expected collections.

The film was expected to open around the Rs. 1 crore mark but did less than 50% of that on the first day. Then there was hope that there would be some sort of turnaround over the weekend but that didn’t happen either. After that, all hopes were lost for the film and that’s reflecting in the weekday collections of the film that are just about hovering around the Rs. 15 lakhs mark, which is just plain disappointment.

For Taapsee Pannu, this was a big ticket film since after Sushant Singh Rajput played the part of M.S. Dhoni in M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story and Ranveer Singh got into the shoes of Kapil Dev for ’83, she stepped into the field for enacting the part of another living legend, Mithali Raj. However, there was just no buzz created around the film and since the end product wasn’t impressive either, the box office was left high and dry. The results can well be seen in barely Rs. 2.60 crores* that have been collected so far and the end would come at Rs. 2.75 crores*. Sad, but true.

SCOOP: Tiger Shroff & Rashmika Mandanna’s next with Karan Johar titled Screw Dheela

After Student of the Year 2, Tiger Shroff is all set to team up with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions for the second time. The athletic actor will be directed by Dulhania Series fame, Shashank Khaitan, in an action-packed entertainer that goes on floors in September. He will be paired alongside Pushpa fame actrese Rashmika Mandanna in the film. And now, Bollywood Hungama has an exclusive update on this film.

According to a source close to the development, the Shashank Khaitan film has been titled Screw Dheela. “The title is derived from the traits of Tiger Shroff’s character in the film. It’s a wacky character and hence, the film has got a whacky title – Screw Dheela – which means Sanki,” revealed a source to Bollywood Hungama, adding further that everyone at Dharma Productions is excited with this massy title that they have got for the Shashank Khaitan film.

The film will be shot in India and abroad with the first schedule expected to kick off in Europe. Both Tiger and Rashmika will be a part of this schedule. “It’s not one of those run of the mill actioner but has a strong story too and falls in the zone that Tiger has not explored before. The film will be released by mid 2023,” the source further told us.

A big ensemble, including the antagonist, is in the process of being cast for Screw Dheela. Karan Johar’s other films in the pipeline include Liger, Brahmastra, Govinda Naam Mera, Mr. Aur Mrs. Mahi and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

EXCLUSIVE: Kartik Aaryan responds to rumours about his cameo in Luv Ranjan’s next starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor: ‘It’s a big question mark’

Riding high on the mega success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Kartik Aaryan was recently in Europe with his team celebrating the success of the film. While he is back in the bay and immersed in work, he sat down with Bollywood Hungama to talk about the film, what it means to have a blockbuster project and whether he is reuniting with filmmaker Luv Ranjan. He is directing Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in his next directorial which is set for Holi 2023 release.

Interestingly, Kartik Aaryan saw rise in his fame with Luv Ranjan’s 2011 movie Pyaar Ka Punchnama. They then went on to work on several projects including Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, Akaash Vani, and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. When said that he is a lucky charm for Luv Ranjan due to which he might do a cameo in his next movie, Kartik responds, “Maine bhi uske baare mein padha question mark ke saath. I’d like to believe I am lucky charm. He has been my lucky charm. We’ve had a great journey. Main uske baare mein jyada nahi bol sakta. Luv sir se hi uske baare mein pucha jayega toh behtar hoga (I also read about that with question mark. I’d like to believe that I am his lucky charm. He has been my lucky charm. Our journey has been great. I can’t say much about the film. It would be better if you ask about him from Luv Sir only.”

When prodded further, he adds, “It’s a big question mark.”

Earlier, reports claimed that Kartik Aaryan may do a cameo in the project and he agreed to it. He has special bond with Luv Ranjan and his special collaboration will also feature Ranbir and Shraddha in the scene.

Talking about his equation with Ranbir, Kartik says, “We’ve been playing football. It sounds funny ki hum football bahut khelte hai saath mein. Aur filmon ki bhi baat karte hai jab bhi kuch na kuch hota hai. Last time when we met, we were in Abu Dhabi and playing a friendly match. (We’ve been playing football. It sounds funny that we play football a lot together. And we talk about movies whenever something or the other happens. Last time we met, we were in Abu Dhabi and playing a friendly match).”

With Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 released, Kartik Aaryan has Shehzada, Captain India, Freddy, and Sajid Nadiadwala’s untitled next in his line up ahead. He has also signed another film with Sajid Nadiadwala which will be helmed by Kabir Khan.
