Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan, has finally been released in the cinemas. It is an official remake of Forrest Gump (1994) though the writers have made a few changes here and there and Indianized the narrative. A significant scene in Laal Singh Chaddha however gives a strong déjà vu of the recent controversy of Ranveer Singh.

In Forrest Gump, the protagonist is in the army and one of his teammates passes him an adult magazine in a scene. Forrest sees the picture of his crush, Jenny, on it. The voiceover of Forrest mentions that Jenny had posed for the magazine seductively in her college sweater. As a result, she was expelled from college.

In Laal Singh Chaddha, the protagonist is handed over a newspaper. His colleague points him at the controversial naked picture of Milind Soman and Madhu Sapre. Laal Singh Chaddha, however, realizes that the same issue had also published a backless picture of his childhood love, Rupa. The article along with the picture informed Laal that a legal notice was slapped on Rupa by certain organizations for promoting vulgarity.

This track in the film reminds one of Ranveer Singh’s recent nude photoshoot controversy. The talented actor’s multiple photos were published by a magazine, wherein he was seen posing without any clothing. While many appreciated this move, a lawyer complained to the cops, after which an FIR was lodged against the actor. After this development, several personalities came forward in support of Ranveer and felt that the police complaint against him is unjustified.

Interestingly, Milind Soman and Madhu Sapre’s hot picture had also led to a lot of brouhaha. In 1995, both the models had done a bold, nude photoshoot for Turf Shoes and were aesthetically covered by a python. The social service branch of the Mumbai police had registered a case against them, citing indecency. The case lasted for 14 years, after which the courts acquitted them.

Raksha Bandhan Box Office Estimate Day 1: Akshay Kumar starrer opens lower than Samrat Prithviraj; collects Rs. 8 crores

Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan has taken a dismal start at the box office in India. According to early estimates, the movie has collected in the range of Rs. 7.50 to 8.50 crores, which is much below even the conservative expectation of the Hindi film industry.

The start was poor across the board, including the mass centers, though the occupancy did see a spike post the afternoon shows. In some of the mass centers like Gujarat, it was better than Laal Singh Chaddha, but at all other places across India, the film lagged behind the Aamir Khan starrer. Given the poor start, it is now upto the film to hold on steady for the coming few weeks to put up a reasonable total.

It’s a week full of holidays, and this factor does give Raksha Bandhan a chance of making up for the lost ground. Even in the worst-case scenario, the Akshay Kumar film should have clocked a double-digit opening, but that hasn’t happened. The collections on the opening day were aided by the Raksha Bandhan Holiday, which has benefitted the Aanand L Rai directorial more than the Aamir Khan film.

The real value of both, Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha on a non-holiday is around 25 percent lower than what they collected on Thursday. The audiences have given their message loud and clear – make good, interesting films – if not, they are skipping the theatres.

Laal Singh Chaddha Box Office Estimate Day 1: Takes a VERY POOR start; LOWEST opening for Aamir Khan in the past 13 years shocks the industry

After a break of four years, Aamir Khan surely would have expected better theatrical prospects from his drama, Laal Singh Chaddha. According to early estimates, the Advait Chandan film had collected in the range of Rs. 11.00 to 12.50 crores. It was a very poor show for the film across the board with the national multiplex chains being the saving grace.

The opening is worse than the Kabir Khan directorial, 83, and the Farhad Samji film, Bachchhan Paandey, which speaks volumes of how much it underperformed on the opening day. The performance in mass belts was dismissal, to say the least, and given the film reports, we don’t anticipate Laal Singh Chaddha to do any sort of business outside the metros.

The opening of Laal Singh Chaddha has sent shock waves across the Hindi film industry, and everyone has gone into a state of rethinking and restrategizing. An Aamir Khan film, even in the worst of scenario, should have opened at Rs. 15 crores. With such a start, the message from the audience is loud and clear – make good big screen worthy cinema.

The trailer of Laal Singh Chaddha was highly criticized and that was followed by a poor marketing campaign, which led to minimal pre-release buzz and hence the very poor start. It’s a week full of holidays and hence, Laal Singh Chaddha still has some chance to do face-saving numbers, but the opening has put an end to the dreams of it doing big numbers at the box office.

Rakshabandhan Special: Bigg Boss 14 fame Rahul Vaidya describes his relationship with his sister; says it’s like Tom and Jerry

Rahul Vaidya is one of the most popular singers in the entertainment fraternity. He also compared his bond with his sibling with Tom and Jerry. He revealed, “My bond with my sister is very real and we are like Tom and Jerry. We fight a lot. There are so many memories I have with my sister, and I can’t tell you one, but she’s always been there as a support. I had a breakup once, and she was the one who helped me the most to come out of it – so that’s the most special moment with her”

“Since we are not into gifts, my sister, luckily, is not the sister who demands gifts, but I just give her cash because she can buy whatever she feels. She’s not a girl with demands, she’s a very simple girl,” he concluded.

Dhokha – Round D Corner: Teaser of R Madhavan starrer attached to Laal Singh Chaddha; teaser to release only theatrically

The makers of the edge of the seat drama take this step in an effort to support theatres post the pandemic. Dhokha – Round D Corner, a film by Kookie Gulati starring R Madhavan, Aparshakti Khurana, Khushalii Kumar and Darshan Kumaar is a suspense drama that also marks the debut of Khushalii in Bollywood. Now, marking a first for the Bollywood industry, the makers of the film have taken a decision for it. The teaser of the movie has been attached to the much awaited film Laal Singh Chaddha and will not release digitally for everyone to watch.

A source close to the film said, “Given today’s digital era, the crew of the film has decided to pique the audience’s interest further and will wait for a few days more until releasing the high octane teaser digitally, worldwide! What stands out is that the film’s team has taken this call in an effort to stand up and support the industry with theatres making a comeback and this is in fact something that no other Bollywood film has done before!”

The source went on to add, “Dhokha is a movie made with a dynamic vision and the audience deserves to see the teaser in a cinematic experience due to its visuals, direction and cinematography and hence, a theatrical release of the teaser first followed by a digital release is surely what a movie like this deserves!”

Dhokha – Round D Corner is a multi-perspective film based on an urban couple along with other interesting characters and promises to take the audience through the whirlwind journey during a day in the life of that couple. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Dharmendra Sharma and Vikrant Sharma, the film is directed by Kookie Gulati and is slated to hit cinemas on September 23, 2022.

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh attend a special screening of Laal Singh Chaddha while sporting monotone outfits

Aamir Khan is all set to return to the silver screen after three-and-a-half year-long break with his film Laal Singh Chaddha. A special screening of the film was held on Wednesday, ahead of its theatrical release on August 11. The special screening was attended by Kareena, Saif Ali Khan, Naga Chaitanya, Kiran Rao, Ira Khan and Junaid Khan. Among others, Deepika and Ranveer made a stylish entry at the star-studded event. They were also joined by Ranveer’s family.

Deepika and Ranveer came at the celebrity-studded event wearing monochromatic outfits and exuded power couple charm with their sharp suits. Deepika was spotted wearing a pastel green pantsuit, and she appeared to be quite the boss chick. A jacket with notch lapel collars, padded shoulders, a plunging neckline, folded full-length sleeves, and an oversized silhouette is part of the star’s outfit. She layered her blazer over a white lace bralette. In the end, Deepika went for a matching pair of pastel green straight-leg trousers, pointed white high heels, Louis Vuitton shoulder bag, and watch with a metallic strap, bracelet with a stylish aesthetic, diamond rings, and tiny ear studs. The outfit Deepika is wearing is from Gauge 81 and costs Rs. 78,729.

Ranveer chose a black shirt and pant set to compliment his wife in his very offbeat fashion. He selected a shirt with a collar, a high-low hemline, long sleeves, and a button-up front. His outfit for the event included skinny-fit black jeans, tinted sunglasses, black dress shoes, diamond ear studs, a well-groomed beard, and a backswept hairstyle.

Laal Singh Chaddha, the forthcoming movie starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, is scheduled to hit theatres on August 11. The iconic Hollywood film The Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks, has an official Hindi version in the form of Laal Singh Chaddha.
