Box Office: Heartbreak for Bollywood as Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan sink further on Tuesday

What a heartbreak it is turning out to be for Bollywood as this holiday season has turned out to be the saddest and depressing ever when it comes to the box office performance of the newest releases. There have been instances in the past as well when either just one of the two high profile releases on clash has worked or maybe both haven’t done well. However they still have managed some kind of numbers at least before been knocked out of theatres. In case of Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan the issue is something else. It’s not about screen space not been available. It’s not even about being in risk to perform due to major competition in weeks ahead. It’s about audiences not even giving them much of a chance in their opening week itself; in this case the one which was full of holidays.

Both the biggies have turned out to be huge disappointments with the collections completely crashing down on Tuesday. As it is the first five days of both the films were very poor and now with Tuesday being so low, it’s the case of being over and out. In fact, it is quite apparent that audience is just not stepping in whatsoever, which means one can witness even bigger drops on Wednesday and Thursday, despite the partial holiday of Janmashtami falling on the latter day. In fact, one dreads to think how things would be in the second weekend but then more about that later in the coming days.

For now, on Tuesday, while Laal Singh Chaddha stood at Rs. 2 crores*, Raksha Bandhan came down to Rs. 1.75 crores*. This is a major crash when compared to Thursday opening of both the films, which stood at Rs.11.70 crores and Rs. 8.20 crores respectively. As a result, the six day numbers stand at Rs. 47.83 crores* for the Aamir Khan starrer and Rs. 36.22 crores* for the Akshay Kumar led film. With just one more day to go before the first week (7 days) comes to a close, even the combined collections of the two films won’t hit the Rs. 100 crores mark. In fact, one waits to see if that happens in their lifetime score at least, though even that looks difficult.

Now if this isn’t a heartbreak, then what is?

Khushi Kapoor channels inner mermaid in a green swimwear teamed with sheer body-con dress worth Rs. 23K

Khushi Kapoor hasn’t made her acting debut yet, but she certainly enjoys the spotlight. Khushi is quite well-liked on social media, where she frequently gives followers behind-the-scenes access to her life. Netizens only need to take a quick glance at her Instagram grid to see it all: from gorgeous photo shoots to selfies, she frequently gives followers serious fashion goals. Speaking of which, Khushi Kapoor posted images from her recent photo shoot wearing swimsuit to Instagram a day ago, and her followers are loving it.

Khushi Kapoor has already established a sizable follower base. The star kid recently posted a few photos to Instagram on Tuesday that clearly screams glitz. Khushi was spotted basking in the sun while wearing a sheer body-con dress over a green swimsuit. Her abstract marble design, translucent maxi dress features blue and green tones. The dress has a front slash cutout feature that gives it a sensual appearance. She dress is worth Rs. 5,253 and is from her Jaded London. She wore the outfit over a glitzy green swimsuit from the Milan, Italy-based international resort wear brand Oséree. The cost of her bikini is Rs. 18,055.

She finished off her look with dramatic makeup that highlighted her beautifully layered eyelashes and heavily-lined eyes. She had an elegant hairdo with beach waves that were left open. From the jewellery line Misho Designs, Khushi accessorised her ensemble with hoop earrings and bracelets made of seashells. Khushi displayed her curves while looking away from the camera and posing casually for the picture.

As soon as she shared the photos, her fans and friends flooded her post with likes and comments. Among others, her BFF Suhana Khan and sister Janhvi Kapoor was quick to react to her post. Suhana’s comment read, “Wowwowww (heart eye emoji)”. On the other hand, her sister and actress wrote, “Excuse me!!!!!!!”

Meanwhile, talking about her debut, Khushi will be co-starring with Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda, who will be debuting alongside her in Zoya Akhtar directorial The Archies. The trio will share screen space with Vedang Raina, Yuvraj Menda, Dot, and Mihir Ahuja. The film is an adaptation of the popular international comics Archies.

EXCLUSIVE: Arjun Kapoor reveals an army man gave him confidence to do Bhoot Police: ‘Mein itna toota hua tha, itna under confident tha and his words gave me the power to do that film’

Following the release of Ek Villain Returns, Arjun Kapoor recently spoke at length about the film industry, the boycott trends, the massive trolling and more. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, the actor also spoke about what made him choose Bhoot Police and how he was completely broken at the time during the lockdown after the failure of Panipat. Bhoot Police stars Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam.

Arjun said, “So during the lockdown, I was sitting at home and signed Bhoot Police and we went to Dharamshala for the shoots. The first phase was in Dalhousie. I guess it was 6 months after the lockdown in 2020. At that time my confidence was very low. My film Panipat didn’t do well at the box office, theatres were shut down and the industry was under lockdown. And that was the first time since lockdown that I went out to do a film. I went there very confused. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do it.”

He added, “So when I reached Dalhousie, the army had a barricading to enter Dalhousie and I was lost in my thoughts, then when my car reached there and the guy looked at me, he said ‘Arey Arjun Kapoor arey how are you sir, I saw your film Gunday‘. At that time, I realised, that this is the audience I am working for. They don’t care if my film didn’t work. Mein itna toota hua tha itna under confident tha and uss aadmi se mila aur usne 3 minute baat ki (I was so broken and underconfident at that time and I talked to him for 3 minutes) and his words gave me the power to do that film. I could go and do a whole film knowing that’s how my audience remembers me, that’s not an agenda. He gave a normal reaction. It is the biggest win of my 10-year-long career that an army officer in Dalhousie knows me, he likes my work.”

Meanwhile, Arjun Kapoor was most recently seen in Ek Villain Returns with John Abraham, Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria. The actor will next star in The Ladykiller and Kuttey.

EXCLUSIVE: Arjun Kapoor says Bollywood was ‘too decent’ and kept quiet against massive trolling: ‘I guess we tolerated it a lot and now people have made this a habit’

Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has weighed in on the trolling against the Hindi film industry and how the industry remain silent which led to people taking advantage of them. In recent times, several films including Brahmastra, Shamshera, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan have faced boycott campaigns on social media while the trolling against the industry continues.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Arjun Kapoor said, “I think we made a mistake by being silent about it and that was our decency but people have started taking advantage of that. I think we made a mistake by thinking that ‘our work will speak for ourselves’. You know you don’t always need to get your hand dirty but I guess we tolerated it a lot and now people have made this a habit. We need to come together and do something about it because what people write about us or the hashtags that trend, are far away from reality. When we do films that do good at the box office, then at that time people like us not because of our surnames but because of the film.”

He added. “Ab jyada hone laga hai…unfair hai (This has started happening a lot now. It is unfair).”

He added, “On Friday morning, the spark in people, the euphoria for a new film, the excitement in people, and the shine of the industry is coming down. Lagatar keechad uchaalte jayenge toh nayi gaadi bhi thodi si shine kho degi na? Humne toh kaafi keechad jhel liya hai pichle kuch saalon mein kyunki we have turned a blind eye on it (People have been tossing mud on us for years now and even a new car that will face that will turn muddy and it will lose its shine. We have been facing this for years now). We think that people’s perception will change after the film’s release.”

EXCLUSIVE: Urvashi Rautela rejects proposal from Egyptian singer since he has two wives and four children; says, “I don’t like broken family, no one in my family has been divorced yet”

In a candid conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Urvashi Rautela made some rather interesting and surprising revelations about her personal life. From talking about the ‘RP’ in her life to also speaking on a proposal she received from an Egyptian singer, the actress went all out while talking about her personal life. She also mentioned that she actually rejected that proposal owing to cultural differences. She also went on to assert that no one in her line of family have ever been divorced and that she, herself, hopes that she lives up to to it.

During her conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the actress spoke about the massive cultural differences with the Egyptian singer and also about how he already had two wives and four kids. “Bahut zyada cultural difference ho jaata. That person already had two wives and four children. Insaan chahe kitna bhi achha ho including nature wise, Family ka bhi sochna padta hai, especially jab ek Indian ladki ki baat aati hai. (I think there are too many cultural differences. He has two wives and four children. No matter how great a person he is, but as an Indian girl, we think about family first.)” she said.

She went on to share, “Bahar ke logon ka mujhe nahi pata. Meri bahut saari friends jo achanak se kuch bhi kardeti hai and sometimes I feel ki yeh aise kaise kar deti hai. But I have a family to answer and main aisa decision nahi le sakti – ki main itni door chali gayi hoon. Woh wahaan, main yahan? (I don’t know about other people and what they think. I do have some friends, who can be that impulsive and sudden and sometimes I keep wondering, how they can do it without thinking so much. But in my case, I have a family to answer and can’t make any decision like that. Moreover, I can’t be that far away from them. Plus we can’t be like, he stays there, I stay here)”

“I think family ka ekkate rehna bahut zaruri hai. Usmein ek alag hi ek enjoyment hai. Jab family puri ekatte hote hi, I like that feeling. I don’t like this broken family thing. Meri family ek mein bhi kisika divorce nahi hua hai. Jahan se main aati hoon, wahan kisi ka bhi divorce nahi hua hai toh mujhe pata hi nahi hai ki divorce ka kya matlab hota hai. Jab main Mumbai mein aayi, I realized yahan to aaye din divorces hote rehte hain. So, if feel if I am lucky, my husband will be someone like my father. Otherwise, I don’t know. (I think a family should always stay together because that’s where the enjoyment lies. I love the feeling when the entire family gets together. I don’t like this broken family thing. In my family, no one has been divorced until now. From where I come, I don’t think I have seen divorce. In fact, I don’t even know what divorce is like. Only when I came to Mumbai, I realized that divorce here is so common.)” she concluded.

Urvashi Rautela, who has been a beauty pageant winner, hails from Uttarakhand. The actress is currently one of the most popular actresses down South.

Apple TV+ unveils first look of Charlie Hunnam in Shantaram set in 1980’s Bombay

Apple TV+ on Monday unveiled a first-look at Shantaram, a new drama series starring Charlie Hunnam, and based on the internationally best-selling novel by Gregory David Roberts. The highly anticipated Apple Original series is a hopeful cinematic love story coupled with a thrilling epic adventure that follows one man’s journey to redemption through a country that changes his life. Shantaram will make its global debut with the first three episodes of its 12-episode first season on Friday, October 14, 2022, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday through December 16, 2022, on Apple TV+.

Shantaram follows a fugitive named Lin Ford (Hunnam) looking to get lost in vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay. Alone in an unfamiliar city, Lin struggles to avoid the trouble he’s running from in this new place. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it.

In addition to Hunnam, the series also stars Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi, Luke Pasqualino, Antonia Desplat, Alyy Khan, Sujaya Dasgupta, Vincent Perez, David Field, Alexander Siddig, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Elham Ehsas, Rachel Kamath, Matthew Joseph, and Shiv Palekar.

The series is co-created, written and executive produced by Steve Lightfoot, who also serves as showrunner. Bharat Nalluri directs and executive produces.
