Raksha Bandhan Box Office Estimate Day 7: Drops by 20% to collect Rs. 1.25 cr; footfalls even lower than Aayush Sharma’s Antim

There’s no stopping the downfall of Raksha Bandhan at the box office. After falling by 85 percent on Tuesday, Raksha Bandhan has seen another dip of 15 to 20 percent on Wednesday, as according to early estimates, the movie has collected in the range of Rs. 1.25 to 1.40 crores, taking the seven-day total to Rs. 37 crores. Raksha Bandhan is headed for a lifetime total of Rs. 45 crores which is disastrous, to say the least.

The film has been rejected by audiences across the board – be it in the cities or the mass belts. There was certainly no interest in the audience to watch a small film like Raksha Bandhan despite the presence of Akshay Kumar in it. The on-ground reports too didn’t seem to favor the film as not once since the date of release did the film clock the double-digit number.

The holiday season will push the lifetime numbers of Raksha Bandhan to Rs. 45 crores and if not for the holiday, the total would have been lower than even Bell Bottom, which clocked Rs. 35 crores. In-fact, on the footfalls front, the tickets sold for Raksha Bandhan would be lower than some Pandemic releases like Antim: The Final Truth (Rs. 40 crores), which speaks volumes of the underperformance. The festive season has added some numbers to the film, and if not for the holiday, the outcome would have been even worse.

The film will be out of most of the cinema halls by the second Friday and the rejection is to such an extent that even Dobaara might have more shows than Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha in the coming weekend.

Koffee With Karan 7: Vicky Kaushal reveals what he told pandit during his wedding with Katrina Kaif: ‘Jaldi nipta dena please’

Koffee With Karan Season 7 on Disney+ Hotstar has seen numerous celeb weddings and dating stories on the couch. In its seventh episode, the conversations around marriages get taken even further as the newly minted groom Vicky Kaushal and Sidharth Malhotra take the couch. The dynamic duo enchant with their charisma, love lives and manifestations that leaves you a little drunk on the Sid-Vicky cocktail! On his second appearance on the show, Vicky arrived as a married man. The actor tied the knot with Katrina Kaif in December 2021 after dating for a couple of years. But, it all began after she mentioned him Koffee With Karan that they would look good together.

During the episode, Vicky recalled how they were busy with the prep for the wedding, they also witnessed the coverage in media and the memes that came along. He revealed that they had a group of friends on chats who would share memes and they would laugh about it. He added, “While all these random news were making the rounds, I was just there with the pandit ji saying, jaldi nipta dena please. Ek ghante se jyada nahi (Please complete the ceremony soon, not more than an hour).”

Karan said, “Maine aap ki prem kahani ke liye pura credit le liya (I took full credit for your love story)”. To this, he said, “In fact, what happened in the last season of this couch, it was really my moment to know that she knows about me. I did not know that she knew (I existed).” He revealed they had never met before that.

“So the first time I remember Vicky properly meeting Katrina was at Zoya’s house. For the first time, I saw the ice breaking and both of them were chatting. Even at that point, it was too nascent to know that it was going to anywhere,” Karan revealed.

On the work front, Vicky Kaushal will next star in Govinda Naam Mera with Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar, a film with Manushi Chillar for YRF and another one with Sara Ali Khan and Laxman Utekar. Katrina Kaif, on the other hand, has Tiger 3 with Salman Khan, Phone Bhoot with Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaturvedi and Merry Christmas with Sriram Raghavan and Vijay Sethupathi.

Mammootty and B. Unnikrishnan’s upcoming thriller film titled Christopher; first poster out

It is a known fact that Mammootty and B Unnikrishnan were collaborating for the film. Taking the project further, the title has been locked for the movie. The thriller has been titled Christopher along with a tagline that reads, ‘Biography of a Vigilante Cop’. The makers also unveiled the title poster of the film.

Although the look of the actor is under wraps, the poster does give a sneak peek into the action packed avatar that Mammootty will be sporting in the film. Just like the poster says, the actor will be seen in the role of a police officer. If sources are to be believed, the shoot of the movie is in progress and it will be extensively shot in many places across Kerala including Ernakulam, Pooyamkutty and Vandiperiyar.

Film is being produced RD Illuminations whereas Udaya Krishna has written the screenplay of this thriller film. Sneha, Amala Paul and Aishwarya Lekshmi are the heroines in the film. The film also marks the Malayalam debut of South Indian star Vinay Rao who will be seen in an important role.

Christopher will also feature Shine Tom Chacko, Dileesh Pothan, Siddique, Jinu Abraham, Vineetha Kosi, Vasanthi and along with thirty five newcomers. The cinematography of the film is done by Faiz Siddique whereas the music is composed by Justin Varghese.

Box Office: Heartbreak for Bollywood as Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan sink further on Tuesday

What a heartbreak it is turning out to be for Bollywood as this holiday season has turned out to be the saddest and depressing ever when it comes to the box office performance of the newest releases. There have been instances in the past as well when either just one of the two high profile releases on clash has worked or maybe both haven’t done well. However they still have managed some kind of numbers at least before been knocked out of theatres. In case of Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan the issue is something else. It’s not about screen space not been available. It’s not even about being in risk to perform due to major competition in weeks ahead. It’s about audiences not even giving them much of a chance in their opening week itself; in this case the one which was full of holidays.

Both the biggies have turned out to be huge disappointments with the collections completely crashing down on Tuesday. As it is the first five days of both the films were very poor and now with Tuesday being so low, it’s the case of being over and out. In fact, it is quite apparent that audience is just not stepping in whatsoever, which means one can witness even bigger drops on Wednesday and Thursday, despite the partial holiday of Janmashtami falling on the latter day. In fact, one dreads to think how things would be in the second weekend but then more about that later in the coming days.

For now, on Tuesday, while Laal Singh Chaddha stood at Rs. 2 crores*, Raksha Bandhan came down to Rs. 1.75 crores*. This is a major crash when compared to Thursday opening of both the films, which stood at Rs.11.70 crores and Rs. 8.20 crores respectively. As a result, the six day numbers stand at Rs. 47.83 crores* for the Aamir Khan starrer and Rs. 36.22 crores* for the Akshay Kumar led film. With just one more day to go before the first week (7 days) comes to a close, even the combined collections of the two films won’t hit the Rs. 100 crores mark. In fact, one waits to see if that happens in their lifetime score at least, though even that looks difficult.

Now if this isn’t a heartbreak, then what is?
