Brahmastra Box Office: Film crosses the Rs. 100 cr. mark worldwide in just under 2 days

The Ayan Mukherji directorial Brahmastra which hit screens yesterday has been living up to expectations. After enjoying a stellar advance booking rate, the Ranbir Kapoor – Alia Bhatt starrer saw immense appreciation from the audience. In fact, the film which also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy has managed to become one of the highest opening day grossers of the year.

As per reports, the film has managed to rake in a staggering Rs. 75 cr. gross worldwide on Day 1. But making it even bigger is the fact that the second day business of the film has seen an increase of nearly 10% from its first day. In fact, the film has crossed Rs. 100 cr. mark at the worldwide box office in just under two days.

Currently, Brahmashtra which also features guest appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone released across 8,913 screens worldwide featured one of the widest releases for a Bollywood film. In fact, in the domestic market Brahmastra released across 5,019 screens, while in the overseas markets the film hit 3,894 screens. Given this wide release and the incredible trending Brahmastra is enjoying trade predictions state that the business of the film is sure to see further growth.

Brahmastra to feature round-the-clock shows in Mumbai starting at 1:30 AM

The much talked about and keenly anticipated Ranbir Kapoor – Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra hit screens yesterday. Directed by Ayan Mukherji the film which hit over 5,000 screens in India has been doing rather well. In fact, Brahmastra enjoyed a massive rate of advance bookings for its first three days with the audience booking seats almost a week before its release. Now, we hear that despite the wide screen count and the multiple languages the audience can’t seem to get enough. In fact, after Delhi, certain theatres in Mumbai will now be featuring round-the-clock shows of Brahmastra.

Interestingly, while conventional releases feature shows as early as 8 AM, after the success and audience demand for tickets of Brahmastra certain theatres like PVR Icon in Goregaon, PVR City Mall in Andheri, PVR Lodha Xperia, and a few other locations will feature round the clock shows. As per reports, these locations will feature shows starting as early as 1.30 AM and continuing with shows ending with the last one at 11 PM. While this certainly bodes well for the film’s business, it is interesting to notice that despite the odd timing audience still seems to be booking their seats. This implementation of round-the-clock shows in Mumbai comes after theatre owners in Delhi achieved success with this format. Given the fact that the craze for the film is high, and the audience seems to be booking tickets for nearly every show it comes as no surprise.

As for the film itself, Brahmastra, which also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy with special appearances from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone continues its run at the box office. After grossing Rs. 75 cr. worldwide on its first day the business of the film is expected to see a further increase on its first Saturday and Sunday.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2022: Siddhant Chaturvedi dances his heart out at Ganpati visarjan, watch video

With the festive season going on, Siddhant Chaturvedi too took to his social media and shared a clip of him doing puja, and dancing with his friends and family in the Ganapati Visarjan. Every year Siddhant celebrates Ganapati Visarjan with his building friends in suburban Mumbai along with his whole family.

He wrote a beautiful caption in Sanskrit, “”गच्छ गच्छ सुरश्रेष्ठ स्वस्थाने परमेश्वर। मम पूजा गृहीत्मेवां पुनरागमनाय च॥ Ganpati Bappa Morya!”

In a recent interview with a publication, while talking about his experience of dancing to the dhol of Nashik Dhol during Visarjan Siddhant said, “This experience was very different from the earlier ones when we would take the idol from Goregaon to Powai in a truck. Through the journey, my friends and I would dance barefoot on the streets to the tunes of Nashik dhol, smear gulal on each other and have vada pav on our way back”

Later, he also added how the festival played an important role in his life saying “I have a lot of respect for the stage here as this is where I was groomed. While I did theatre, it was on this stage that I danced, hosted and acted in plays while growing up. It also taught me teamwork. In these seven days, you feel like you are a part of a community… there’s this feeling of belonging and being rooted.”

Talking about his future lineups, Siddhant will be next seen in PhoneBhoot with Katrina Kaif and Ishaan Khatter and Yudhra where he takes on a heavy dose of action.

Brahmastra Advance Booking Report: Film crosses Rs. 20 cr. gross in advance ticket sales for Day 2

The Ayan Mukherji directorial Brahmastra starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt hit screens yesterday. Said to be one of this year’s biggest release the film which also features Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy with special appearances from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, took off to a good start. In fact, Brahmastra, whose advance bookings started nearly a week before release witnessed a good spate of ticket sales. Now, for its second day running, we hear that the business of the film looks set to feature good collection figures.

As per reports, Brahmastra has seen its advance ticket sales of Day 2 remain more or less stable, despite the less than appreciative reviews. In fact, reports suggest that Brahmastra has crossed the Rs. 20 cr. gross mark in advance ticket sales alone for its second day. This coupled with fact that most locations will see an increase in spot bookings over the evening and night shows, it is expected that the business of Brahmastra will see an increase.

Currently, trade predicts a good opening weekend collection window for Brahmastra, claiming that the business of the film will continue to see growth.

Disney unveils first look of Snow White starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot; Mufasa: The Lion King and Peter Pan and Wendy at D23 Expo

D23, the Disney-backed convention in Anaheim, kicked off the first day with several first-look announcements, teasers, and trailers. The first-look announcements of Snow White starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, Mufasa: The Lion King and Peter Pan and Wendy were made at D23 Expo 2022.

SNOW WHITE

West Side Story’s breakout star Rachael Zegler plays the titular character of Snow White and Tony award-winning actor Andrew Burnap starring as a new lead character. Gal Gadot takes on the role of the Evil Queen. “Snow White is the girl you remember, but she definitely is made for the modern age. There’s such an emphasis on what it means to be the fairest of them all,” said Zegler at the Expo. “For Snow White it’s about finding her voice and finding her agency so she can be a fair and just ruler.”

MUFASA: THE LION KING

Filmmaker Barry Jenkins unveiled the first look and title of Mufasa: Lion King releasing in 2024.“Mufasa was actually an orphaned cub who had to navigate the world alone by himself, and in telling this story, we get to experience the real journey of how Mufasa found his place in the circle of life,” said Jenkins at D23, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

PETER PAN & WENDY

The new live-action film will retell the story of the kids who go to Neverland and meet Peter Pan. Jude Law takes on the role of Captain Hook. The film, which will be directed by David Lowery, also stars Ever Anderson as Wendy Darling, Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, Joshua Pickering and Jacobi Jupe will play Wendy’s siblings, John and Michael Darling, respectively.

D23: Disney+ Hotstar announces Mahabharata at the world’s biggest fan fest

Disney+ Hotstar made a huge announcement at Disney’s ongoing D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. The epic story of Mahabharat is going to be one of their most ambitious projects in association with Bollywood producer Madhu Mantena, Mythoversestudios, and Allu Entertainment.

Gaurav Banerjee, Head – Content, Disney+ Hotstar along with Rebecca Campbell, Chairman, International content and Operations spoke about Mahabharat. Banerjee told Bollywood Hungama in an exclusive interview, “We are going to make Mahabharata which will be a big massive scale production. We are very excited about this one; we are working on this with Madhu Mantena who is our producer and is putting together an incredibly strong team for it. The writing sessions have been very exciting. Creative development has been happening at Disney+ Hotstar over the past several months. We will discuss the casting of Mahabharata soon.”  

He explained how big Disney+ Hotstar plans to take the story of Mahabharata global, “It’s an incredibly powerful epic story. It will have great action; we want to do justice for the depth of this story that is inherently there in Mahabharata. It’s indebted to our culture that makes it exciting and we want to go global with it. We want to create something that travels.”  

Producer Madhu Mantena said, “For centuries Indian epics have captured the imagination of billions around the world. These epics are deeply woven into the very fabric of our nation. The Mahabharata – one of the oldest epics in India, despite being as old as time, is still relevant today for the many lessons and words of wisdom hidden within its ancient verses. It is said that every known emotional conflict experienced by mankind finds form in Mahabharata through its complex characters and storylines. We at Mythoverse are absolutely delighted to have this opportunity provided by Disney+ Hotstar to bring out a rendition of this great Indian epic Mahabharata and for announcing this news on a prestigious global platform at the D23 Expo.” 

Mahabharata is one of India’s greatest epics of ancient India. The story speaks of the ultimate conflict between Dharma & Adharma manifested through the battle for succession between the Pandavas & Kauravas. 

This announcement was made on the first day of Disney’s D23 in Anaheim. The fan festival will be on till Sunday.
