Phone Bhoot: Katrina Kaif plays a ghost; it’s an encounter you can’t afford to miss

Katrina Kaif is all set to experiment with her characters and has now decided to play the role of a ghost in Phone Bhoot. The actress has been roped in by Excel Entertainment to feature in their horror-comedy that also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter.

The movie’s first look featuring the trio – Katrina Kaif, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter has piqued curiosity among the audience for its unusual casting. A source close to the film confirmed about the actress saying, “Phone Bhoot is undoubtedly a film that has been the talk of the town for a long time. While the audience does know some elements of the story as well as about the film, the big question that left everyone wondering was about the details of the ghost in the film. While we have seen Katrina essaying many glamorous characters in her intriguing filmography, this time she will be seen playing the character of a ghost for the first time in the film. As the film is slated to release this Diwali season, it would be exciting to see Katrina playing such a different role on the big screen. Katrina coming as a ghost with her distinctive charm would be a treat to watch in the film. Phone Bhoot will also mark Kartina’s first film after her marriage.”

Katrina Kaif, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Ishaan Khatter recently attended Koffee With Karan 7 with Karan Johar asa the host. While audience got a glimpse of their off screen camaraderie, they seem to be quite excited to see them together on the big screen as well. Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Ravi Shankaran and Jasvinder Singh Bath, Phone Bhoot is produced by Excel Entertainment, headed by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The film will be a post-Diwali release and is all set to be released on November 4.

Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram to be screened at the 27th Busan Film Festival

Kamal Haasan has been receiving appreciation and accolades for his last release Vikram. He has yet another honour coming his way. The Ulaganayakan or global superstar became a part of the LCU aka Lokesh Kanagaraj Cinematic Universe with Vikram that also starred Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles, has now made its way to Busan. The film will be screened at the 27th Busan Film Festival.

Raaj Kamal Films International, the production house owned by Kamal Haasan, released an official statement regarding the screening of Vikram at the 27th Busan Film Festival on social media. The statement read, “The film will be screened at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) slated to take place from October 5 to October 14. Vikram will be screened under the Open Cinema category that recognizes new and internationally acclaimed films that strike the perfect balance between popular and artistic cinema.”

Speaking about this honour, the CEO of Raaj Kamal Films International, V. Narayanan said in a statement, “The response to Vikram all over the world has been extremely overwhelming. The Busan Film Festival is another feather in the film’s cap and it’s selection is a win for the entire team. We are proud to have our film being screened along with some of the finest films across the globe and are grateful for all the love and adulation from the audiences.”

Coming to the film Vikram, the Tamil action-thriller also featured Kalidas Jayaram, Narain, and Chemban Vinod Jose in pivotal roles. The film revolves around the plotline of how a Black Ops team brings down an ambitious drug lord who can go to any lengths to fulfill his dreams. Known to be a treat for action lovers with ample gore and violence, the Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi starrer gained massive response at the theatres in India and abroad. While it was originally shot in Tamil, it was also dubbed in Telugu and Hindi. The film is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar as well as ZEE5.

EXCLUSIVE: Riteish Deshmukh says if Shammi Kapoor were on Instagram, he would be killing it

Riteish Deshmukh is freshly coming off his Netflix romantic-comedy film Plan A Plan B which also co-stars Tamannaah Bhatia. The film follows a matchmaker (Tamannaah Bhatia) who believes marriage is for everyone except herself, and a successful divorce lawyer (Riteish Deshmukh) with a secret, who cross paths, and explores if opposites coexist or attract.

In an exclusive segment with Bollywood Hungama, the 43-year-old actor answers some interesting rapid-fire questions. When asked “If there were actors from the previous generation who could be on Instagram and would be killing it, who would it be?” Riteish replied, “I think Shammi Kapoor sahaab because he was one of the first people who was on the internet, in India, and he loved technology.”

He continued, “And the kind of flamboyance if it was Shammi sahaab in these platforms available in the 60s… Oh my god all those pictures from Dal Lake and shikaras and Kashmir and ‘Yahoo.’ Imagine one camera is going and him doing ‘Yahoo.’” Tamannaah then added, “BTS of ‘Yahoo’ would’ve been a vibe.”

Starring Riteish Deshmukh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Poonam Dhillon and Kusha Kapila, Plan A Plan B is produced by Rajat Arora (Funk Your Blues Entertainment Pvt Ltd) and Trilok Malhotra and K R Harish (India Stories Media & Entertainment Pvt Ltd) and directed by Shashanka Ghosh.

Plan A Plan B is now streaming on Netflix.

Adipurush teaser video becomes the fastest to cross 50 million views on YouTube

Just yesterday at 7.11 PM the teaser of the much-anticipated movie Adipurush was released. Starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Kriti Sanon, the film based on the epic Ramayana witnessed a grand teaser launch in Ayodhya. Produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and directed by Om Raut the teaser gave a glimpse of what to expect from the visual spectacle Adipurush.

Interestingly, the hype surrounding the film has built to such a crescendo, that the video of the teaser on YouTube has managed to cross the 50 million view mark. Becoming one of the fastest teaser videos to cross the 50 million views mark, Adipurush has continued to see the view count steadily increase as the hours have passed. Currently, at over 72 million views in just over 24 hours, the teaser of Adipurush has become of the most-watched views of recent times.

As for the launch event, the grand teaser launch event saw the unveiling of a mammoth 50-foot poster that rose from the waters of the river Sarayu in Ayodhya. With a massive hoard of viewers and media personnel in attendance, it was one of the most significant unveiling events for a recent release.

Talking about  Adipurush, the film is an Indian Hindu mythological film based on the epic Ramayana. Directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series the film was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu languages, the film stars Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh.

EXCLUSIVE: Avinash Gowariker recalls shooting Karisma Kapoor under her building: ‘I had no assistance, no studio, nothing’

Popular celebrity photographer Avinash Gowariker recently sat down with Bollywood Hungama to talk about his career, his shoots, his favourite photos and what it is like to shoot with some of the biggest superstars. During the conversation, Gowariker reacted to some of his iconic photo-shoots and shooting one of his favourite muse, Karisma Kapoor.

Recalling shooting under her residential building, Avinash said, “So this is during my beginning of my career. So Lolo (Karisma Kapoor) was very special to me. She was my favorite. I used to shoot a lot with her. This is also under a building. I had no assistance, no studio, nothing. So I used to just shoot wherever randomly and it was under her building.

He said, “Yeah, it’s all burnt out. I just exposed for the face and everything else is burnt out. It’s black and white, negative short, and nothing.”

Talking about the mood and when it was shoot, Avinash said, “She was at the peak of her career. It was just post Raja Hindustani and all the David Dhawan films with her in it were doing very well. She and I had just started bonding as photographer and model and she also never did too many pictures. I just started enjoying it. In those days, most of the work used to happen is at the studio and studios had become very boring. She had liked the fact that I used to go wherever she was, asked to accompany on shoots. I used to shoot under building if required and shoot those pictures. So Manish Malhotra is very close to her and used to manage to just send some clothes. She used to have a makeup artist, and we say ‘jam’ and these are those pictures.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Karisma Kapoor will be seen in web series Brown with director Abhinay Deo. She was last seen in Mentalhood.

Sudden demise of Salman Khan’s body double Sagar Pandey deals blow to actor’s career

The sudden death of Salman Khan’s body double Sagar Pandey is a major setback for the Superstar. Sagar performed all of Salman’s stunts, easy difficult or dangerous, in his films during the last ten years. The deceased stunt man, said to have collapsed due to over-exertion at the gym, knew Salman’s body language in minute detail and could pull of the most intricate action sequences exactly as Salman would have.

Now, to find someone else to replicate Salman Khan’s stunt moves on camera sounds like an impossibly tall order. A director who has worked closely with Salman says Sagar was an indispensable part of Salman’s stardom. “This guy (Sagar Pandey) was like Salman’s shadow. He knew Salman’s reflexes and would react accordingly when standing in for Salman in high-risk and low-risk stunts. Now to find someone else at this stage of his career …sounds very tough.”

Several directors share that Salman has stopped doing his own stunts for some years now and leaves the rough stuff to his body double.

First poster out! Urmila Matondkar to make her digital debut with the web series ‘Tiwari’

Actress Urmila Matondkar is known for her superlative performances in films like Satya, Ek Haseena Thi, Bhoot, Rangeela, Kaun and Pinjar to name a few. Now, she is all set to make a grand comeback with her digital debut in a thriller titled ‘Tiwari’ directed by Saurabh Varma, and produced by Content Engineers. The actress will play the titular role in the upcoming web series set in a small town and has an emotional mother-daughter story at the core of it.

The makers released a poster today and Urmila’s transformation will surely leave her fans intrigued.  The thriller has the actress doing gritty action for which she has been training rigorously for the last six months. Urmila will be seen in a completely different avatar in the show. With Urmila’s pre-existing vast and varied body of work, this surely becomes a comeback that is eagerly awaited.

Talking about the show, the actress says, “This one offered me characters and a story arc that is challenging as a performer and things that I haven’t attempted so far. Written and created by a team of young writers, the team managed to keep me hooked till the end while narrating it. What I liked the most in the story is that at the core, it’s an emotional mother-daughter story but at the same time it has everything from drama to action to some thrilling twists and turns. I can’t wait to start shooting.”

Meanwhile, filmmaker Saurabh Varma says, “The kind of varied graph Tiwari aka Urmila’s character has in the show, we really couldn’t think of anyone else but Urmila. As a filmmaker and as a studio, we intend to create clean entertaining content that can be watched with the whole family, globally. Tiwari is something that has been loved as a script by all age groups and fits the bill in totality.”

On the other hand, Utpaal Acharya, CEO of Content Engineers, says, “As a studio, our focus is totally on content and knowing the repertoire of Urmila, we surely wanted her to associate with something new for her as well as her fans. It’s amazing to see her so committed to the craft even after all these years.”

The show produced by Dr Raj Kishor Khaware and Utpaal Acharya, is presently under pre-production.
