Urmila Matondkar to feature in a double role in Tiwari

Actress Urmila Matondkar known for her superlative performances in films like Satya, Ek Haseena Thi, Bhoot, Rangeela, Kaun and Pinjar, is all set to make a grand comeback in a thriller titled Tiwari directed by Saurabh Varma, produced by Content Engineers. The actress plays the titular role in the web series set in a small town and has an emotional mother-daughter story at the core of it.

The thriller has the actress doing gritty action for which she has been training rigorously for last six months. Urmila will be seen in a completely different avatar in the show. Apparently, Urmila will play the double role of mother and daughter in Tiwari.

Talking about the show, Urmila says, “Tiwari offered me characters and a story arc that is challenging as a performer and things that I haven’t attempted so far. Written and created by a team of young writers, the team managed to keep me hooked till the end while narrating it. What I liked the most in the story is that at the core, it is an emotional mother-daughter story but at the same time, it has everything from drama to action to some thrilling twists and turns. I can’t wait to start shooting.”

Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun, Wi Ha Joon starrer Little Women soars at No. 4 amongst non-English TV shows with 18.94 million viewership

With two more episodes for the series finale, the South Korean drama Little Women continues to pack a punch with twists and turns as the three sisters face the richest family in Korea. Starring Kim Go Eun, Nam Ji Hyun, Park Ji Hu and Wi Ha Joon, the series which is airing simultaneously on network tvN in South Korea and Netflix, is soaring in terms of ratings.

As per the Netflix Top 10 list between September 26 and October 2, Little Women is thriving at No. 4 amongst the popular Non-English TV content on the streaming platform. During that time, with 10 episodes in, the series has seen 18.94 million viewership.

The other Korean shows on the chart include Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Alchemy Of Souls season 1 and Narco Saints season 1, respectively.

In Little Women, Kim Go Eun plays Oh In Joo, the hardworking and exhausted eldest sister who feels compelled to provide for the family. She widens her acting chops to include playing the scheming big sister who takes big risks for money. Nam Ji Hyun plays middle sister Oh In Kyung, a journalist with strong convictions who proves wiser than her big sister. Park Ji Hu is Oh In Hye, the sensitive and artistic youngest sister much shielded by her older siblings. The logline reads, “What would you do if you had a lot of money? After living in poverty all their lives, three sisters were faced with this question when they suddenly came across a mysterious sum of 70 billion won.”

Premiered on September 3, the series also stars Um Ki Joon and Uhm Ji Won.

Prabhas starrer Adipurush made for 3D viewing says director Om Raut

Just last week, the much talked about teaser of the Prabhas – Saif Ali Khan starrer Adipurush dropped, at a lavish event in Ayodhya. Apart from the launch of the teaser, the makers of the film also unveiled a poster featuring Prabhas with a 50-foot image rising out of the waters of the river Sarayu. Interestingly, while the teaser went on to become one of the fastest videos to cross the 50 million views mark, the makers recently unveiled the 3D version as well.

At a media even in Mumbai, director Om Raut screened the 3D teaser of the Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan starrer Adipurush. Post the screening, while speaking to the media director Om Raut said explained how this film will be best viewed on the big screen and for those who can watch it in 3D must do so.

Also addressing the reactions on social media, he said he was taken aback but since it’s a film meant to be experienced on the big screen he is confident that watching it on the biggest screen possible will make it a good experience for the viewers.

BREAKING: Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam expected to release in 1800-2000 screens despite CLASH with Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn’s Thank God on Diwali

Diwali is merely three weeks away and moviegoers are already excited to witness the clash between Akshay Kumar-starrer Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn-Sidharth Malhotra starrer Thank God. Both the movies will release in cinemas on Tuesday, October 25. However, there’s one more film in the race – the Hollywood superhero flick, Black Adam. Interestingly, it’ll release earlier, on October 21 and many in the trade and exhibition sector believe that it can be the dark horse of the season.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “There’s tremendous excitement for Black Adam globally as it’s a DC film. Moreover, it stars Dwayne Johnson, who has a huge following in India. What also works in its favour is that there hasn’t been a big-scale commercial Hollywood film in a long time. The last such film to release was Thor: Love And Thunder, which came out on July 8. Due to these reasons, Black Adam can score at the ticket window.”

A section of trade is also concerned with the release period. It releases in the pre-Diwali time when the box office takes a beating. Moreover, clashing with Ram Setu and Thank God can also prove detrimental. But the source assured that Warner Bros, the studio that has produced Black Adams, is already working on getting a wide release for the film.

The source stated, “The Warner Bros team wants the film to release at the same time across the globe. Since it’s releasing in the West and other major markets around October 21, it was decided to release the film in India on the same day. As of now, it is expected to release in 1800 to 2000 screens across the nation in the original English version as well in the dubbed Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions.”

The source continued, “The trade in the West is confident of the film. It is expected to gross around $70 million in the opening weekend in the USA/Canada. By releasing Black Adam in the pre-Diwali period, the Warner team in India hopes to build on the word of mouth so that the audiences turn up to the cinemas in hordes from October 25. Of course, it is expected to lose 400-500 screens thanks to Ram Setu, Thank God and the Southern releases. Multiplexes will also reduce some shows to accommodate the Hindi releases. Yet, it’ll be more than enough to put up a good number at the box office, provided the word of mouth is positive.”

Nevertheless, the clash of three big films has already raised tension levels among the trade and exhibitors. An exhibitor said, “We all remember what happened during the clash of Sooryavanshi and Eternals in Diwali 2021. But then there are times when things haven’t turned that ugly. For example, the issues during the clash between Raksha Bandhan and Laal Singh Chaddha got resolved quickly. Warner Bros, meanwhile, had also managed to release The Matrix Resurrections alongside Pushpa, Spider-Man: No Way Home and ’83. Hence, we are hoping for the best.”

However, an industry expert reminded us, “It’s a four-way clash, especially in Maharashtra, as the big-budget Marathi film, Har Har Mahadev, will also be releasing on October 25. God save the exhibitors this Diwali!”

Alia Bhatt’s intimate baby shower included Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Karan Johar & Soni Razdan; see photos

Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, who tied the knot in April 2022, are expecting their first child. The actress took to Instagram in June to announce her pregnancy. Following the release of Brahmastra in September, the actors hosted an intimate baby shower ceremony on Wednesday on the occasion of Dussehra.

Neetu Kapoor shared several pictures on her Instagram stories offering a glimpse into the celebration.

The group photo featured Alia, Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Shweta Bachchan, Alia’s mother Soni Razdan, Nitasha Nanda, Rima Jain, Anissa Malhotra Jain, Shammi Kapoor’s wife Neila Devi and others. Alia was dressed in yellow attire.

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni shared a series of pictures on her Instagram stories which included Ranbir, Alia, and Karisma Kapoor.

Karan Johar also shared a selfie with the parents-to-be Ranbir and Alia. Ranbir was dressed in a white kurta-pajama with half printed jacket. He is sporting a beard and long hair.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor got married in an intimate ceremony on April 14 with close friends and family in attendance. The couple dated for several years before getting married. Their ceremony was widely covered in news and on social media.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia Bhatt will next star in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani alongside Ranveer Singh. The film also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. It is slated for 2023 release. She also has a Hollywood debut in Heart Of Stone with Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan.

Salman Khan sends a message to Chiranjeevi on GodFather release day: ‘My dear Chiru Garu, I love you’

GodFather starring Chiranjeevi and Salman Khan released in Telugu and Hindi on October 5, on the occasion of Dussehra. Last week, a Hindi trailer was launched in presence of Chiranjeevi, Salman Khan, Satya Dev and a few others in Mumbai. On Wednesday, the actor took to social media to send best wishes on the release day.

In a video shared on his Instagram, Salman said, “My dear Chiru Garu, I love you and I heard that GodFather is doing really well. Congrats! god bless you. You know why Chiru Garu, because this country and its citizens are very powerful, Vande Mataram.” Alongside the video, Salman Khan wrote, “#Godfather @alwaysramcharan @chiranjeevikonidela.”

At the press conference in Mumbai, Chiranjeevi said he requested Salman Khan to be in GodFather to which Salman said ‘don’t request and all and just tell.” He asked him to watch Lucifer and then decide whether he wants to be a part of GodFather. “He said don’t request, tell me, All these things happened in ten minutes. At that time, I felt this film is going to be a hit. I felt very happy he was giving (dates) whenever we asked because of other problems we could not make use of his dates. He is such as co-operative (man). There is a heartfelt thing and I am indebted to lifetime to you Sallu,” he said.

Chiranjeevi also said that Salman Khan didn’t charge a penny for his appearance. “When my producers went to hand over the big cheque to him, the manager went inside and at the same speed, he came out and said I don’t want to take this. He said that the producer wants to buy my love and affection towards Chiranjeevi with this price. I am doing it for love and affection and he is showering that on. Who else has big heart than him?” he said.

Salman said, “It is not a question about heart. It is a question of love for cinema that you have, I have.”

On the work front, Salman Khan will next star in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Tiger 3.

Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth call off their divorce after 9 months of separation

Actor Dhanush and Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, took to their social media handles in January 2022 to announce their separation after 18 years of togetherness. The actor had released a statement and also urged everyone to respect their privacy during this time. Now, reports state that Dhanush and Aishwaryaa have decided to call off their divorce.

Reports state that the two of them have decided to reconcile their marriage after nine long months of separation. The news is yet to be confirmed by the respective celebrities.

Back in January 2022, Dhanush wrote, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate… Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do Respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this.Om Namashivaaya! Spread love, D.”

Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth got married in 2004. They have two sons together, Yatra Raja and Linga Raja.

On the work front, Dhanush will next star in his Tamil-Telugu bilingual Sir. His next will be Maaran directed by Karthick Naren.
