Sara Ali Khan joins the ‘No Shame Movement’ with IAS officer-turned-actor Abhishek Singh; visits Delhi college, Miranda House

Actress Sara Ali Khan and IAS officer turned actor, Abhishek Singh join hands to provide support to young girls who fall victim to non-consensual media sharing. The duo went to interact with young girls at Miranda House College in New Delhi. 

A talk show session was organized by United by Blood organization with NSS and the Department of Chemistry of Miranda House College, called ‘No Shame’. During her speech, the actress addressed the issue of young girls’ images being shared on the web without their consent, and how it deeply affects them and their mental well-being.   

The Kedarnath actress has been lauded for standing up for this social issue and providing support to those who fall victim to their intimate images and media being shared without consent. Yesterday, even Minister of Law and Justice, Kiran Rijiju praised the actress for joining the ‘No Shame Movement’ and spreading awareness against non-consensual image sharing amongst young girls, amidst the rising cases of image abuse that are surfacing.

On the work front, the 27-year-old actress is working on Dharma Productions’ Ae Watan Mere Watan. She will be seen donning the character of freedom fighter, Usha Mehta. This is her 3rd project of the year. Apart from this, the actress will also be seen in Maddock Films’ untitled next opposite Vicky Kaushal and Gaslight opposite Vikrant Massey.

10 Years Of English Vinglish: Boney Kapoor tears up remembering Sridevi

One of the first movies to hit the trifecta of having a great story, relatability sending a social message was English Vinglish back in 2012. One of the most iconic Sridevi characters, Shashi Godbole reminded us so much of our own mothers. A movie that made us laugh and left us with tears, English Vinglish celebrates its 10 years of existence this year.  To celebrate this momentous occasion, writer and director Gauri Shinde along with the cast and crew of the film held a panel discussion on Monday.

Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor had attended the event. The producer spoke about the movie, his late wife and her contribution to the film. He was visibly emotional and in tears remembering her work. A few days ago, he had shared a post on his Instagram account and wrote, “10 years of English Vinglish To come back after a sabbatical of 15 years from films, with a timeless, magical performance that touched everyone’s hearts – is something only Sri could do. This film will always remain special.”

The writer and dIrector Gauri Shinde shared “Making English Vinglish was one of the best things that happened to me. To have the opportunity to work with Sridevi who at the time was on a sabbatical, was a miracle in itself. Her presence was the most prominent even beyond the camera’s lens. Not having her here today is still the most saddening thing. But being here with the rest of the cast and crew, talking about our memories of her and the movie felt great.”

The panel discussion ended with the announcement that Sridevi’s iconic sarees will be auctioned and the proceeds will go towards young women’s education.” The announcement was followed by the screening of the film.

Guests like producer of the film R Balki, Producer and director Gauri Shinde, Boney Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Saiyami Kher and Cast and crew of the film – Navika Kotia, Shivansh Kotia, Dir. Gauri Shinde, Lyricist Swanand Kirkire, Rajeev Ravindranathan, Cinematography Laxman Utekar and Lyricist-Screenwriter Kausar Munir.

Amitabh Bachchan celebrates his 80th birthday with intimate family gathering; poses with son Abhishek, daughter Shweta

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 80^th birthday on October 11. The celebration was nationwide with wishes pouring in from all corners – from celebrities, colleagues from the film industry, and fans from all across. As his birthday called for celebrations, his daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda took to social media to share photos from their family gathering.

Taking to Instagram, Shweta was seen twinning with her father Amitabh. The father-daughter duo donned printed kurtas and posed at his Mumbai residence. In another picture, Abhishek was all smiles as he wore a yellow kurta. Sharing the photo, Shweta wrote, “Twinning & Winning – perfect end to an incredible day.”

On the very same night, Amitabh Bachchan stepped out of his residence Jalsa to greet the fans who were waiting to catch a glimpse of the megastar. In the viral video, he was seen waving at the fans and greeting them with folded hands. They also sang Happy Birthday to the actor. It was reported earlier that due to the demise of politician-friend Mulayam Singh Yadav, the actor had opted for a small celebration for his birthday.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan was most recently seen in Brahmastra with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. The actor has an array of line-up. He will next star in Sooraj Barjatya’s Unnchai with Boman Irani and Anupam Kher among several other actors.  He has also signed Nag Ashwin’s next with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone which is being shot in Hyderabad and The Intern remake with Deepika Padukone.

Shah Rukh Khan wishes Amitabh Bachchan on his 80th birthday; calls him ‘great superstar, father and superhuman’

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 80^th birthday on October 11. The celebration was nationwide with wishes pouring in from all corners – from celebrities, colleagues from the film industry, and fans from all across. Shah Rukh Khan, who has worked with Bachchan and is known to be close to him, took to social media to wish him.

Sharing a video from the Badla promotion days, the actor wrote, “One thing to learn from this great man, actor, superstar, father and superhuman is to never back away….instead learn….level up and launch again and again….forever. May you always be healthy and entertain our grandchildren also. Love you sir @SrBachchan.”

In the video, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan are together humming the song ‘Ek Dusre Se Karte Hain Pyaar Hum’. The video was taken during Badla promotions, which was backed by Red Chillies Entertainment and also starred Taapsee Pannu.

The two stars have worked in three films together, including Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan was most recently seen in Brahmastra with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. It had a cameo of Shah Rukh Khan with glimpses of Deepika Padukone and Dimple Kapadia. He will next star in Sooraj Barjatya’s Unnchai with Boman Irani and Anupam Kher. He has also signed Nag Ashwin’s next with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone and The Intern remake with Deepika Padukone.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is set to return to the big screen next year. He is headlining three projects – Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. Following his cameos in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Laal Singh Chaddha and most recently, Brahmastra, he also has a cameo in Tiger 3.

Pathaan has the biggest stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham. The film is set to release on January 25, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu!

Ankita Lokhande roped in to play the lead opposite Randeep Hooda in Swatantraveer Savarkar

Ankita Lokhande is set to spring a huge surprise on movie buffs and her fans once again with her next big offering, Swatantraveer Savarkar. Ankita has been roped in to play the lead opposite Randeep Hooda in a biopic on the late freedom fighter, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. The movie also features Amit Sial in a pivotal role.

Sharing her excitement on the announcement, Ankita says, “I love essaying challenging and pivotal characters that not just take the narrative forward but also leave an impact on the audience. Swatantrya Veer Savarkar is one such inspiring story that needs to be told and I’m happy to be associated with it”.

Swatantraveer Savarkar marks the debut of Randeep Hooda as a director besides playing the titular role.

The film is conceptualised by Sandeep Singh, and it is written by Utkarsh Naithani and Randeep Hooda. The film is produced by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Legend Studios, Producers Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh and Sam Khan. The film is scheduled to release on 26th May 2023, marking the 140th birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar.

Sajid Khan on Bigg Boss 16: FWICE sends out a clarification statement after DCW demands his removal from reality show; says, “He has already suffered his punishment”

Sajid Khan, who was accused by actresses and starlets during the MeToo movement, faced a ban from the entertainment industry owing to the sexual harassment allegations. Now the filmmaker has returned to the small screen as a contestant in the ongoing controversial reality show Bigg Boss 16. However, after his return, many of the female artists who had accused him of misconduct voiced their displeasure over his comeback, followed by which Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) also sent out a statement demanding his removal from the show. Now, in response to the same, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has sent out a response and the statement asserts that the ban on him was lifted in 2019.

FWICE issued an official statement on its social media handle, addressing Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur stating that Sajid Khan has faced his punishment and is allowed to work. In the letter, they said, “After carefully going through the entire proceedings of the POSH committee of IFTDA and considering the opinions of the legal team FWICE, the FWICE also endorsed the action against Director Sajid Khan and seconded the decision of IFTDA of BAN on Shri Sajid Khan for one year.”

The statement went on to read, “Shri Sajid Khan had cooperated with the IFTDA and FWICE and obeyed the decision of the POSH Committee. FWICE was satisfied with his behaviour during the period of his Ban and after completion of the one year of this punishment the BAN on Shri Sajid Khan was lifted by the FWICE on 14.03 2019 Shri Sajid Khan has now entered into the BIGG BOSS to earn his living. Copies of all these correspondences are enclosed herewith for your reference.”

Speaking about his right to return to work, the letter elaborated on it adding, “He has also gone through the tough trials of the POSH committee and a lot of humiliation during those trying days in social media and other public platforms. A person who has already suffered his punishment and obeyed the decision of the IFTDA and the FWICE cannot be again tried and punished for the same offence. He has all the right to survive and earn his living and hence he has joined the BIGG BOSS show. It is therefore requested to you to kindly please allow Shri Sajid Khan to work for the show BIGG BOSS and do not initiate any action against him as per the appeal submitted by the Delhi Commission of Women.”

Bigg Boss 16 currently airs on Colors and includes several actors from the Television industry like Shalin Bhanot, Gautam Vig, Tina Dutta, Sreejita De, Ankit Gupta, Priyanka Choudhary, among others along with contestants from other walks of life too.
