Katrina Kaif recalls the ‘jootha chuppayi’ ritual at her wedding with Vicky Kaushal; says, “I saw everyone fighting”

Katrina Kaif was recently seen promoting her horror comedy PhoneBhoot featuring her alongside Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaturvedi for the first time. The trio played the role of ghostbusters who are on a mission to help them attain salvation with Katrina playing the role of a ghost. The three actors also visited the popular comedy chat show The Kapil Sharma Show wherein the host had many interesting questions and comments about Kat’s wedding with co-actor Vicky Kaushal. While he expressed his disappointment over not being invited to the wedding, Kat gave him some tidbits about her quintessential traditional wedding in Rajasthan.

Readers would be aware hiding a groom’s footwear is a common ritual in Indian weddings and it was a part of the big fat Bollywood wedding of Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal. When host Kapil Sharma quizzed her about the ‘joota chuppayi rasm’, the actress said, “I was hearing very loud noises behind me. As I turned I saw everyone fighting and pulling the shoes toward themselves. There were my sisters and Vicky’s friends. They were literally fighting.” When she was asked further about who won the fight, the actress couldn’t recall as she added that she was too busy at the wedding and after that, she never really thought of asking them about it.

Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif took many by surprise when they tied the knot in a private ceremony in Rajasthan. Although their wedding was a lavish affair, the couple was quite restrictive about the guests due to the pandemic guidelines. Speaking about life post-marriage, Katrina Kaif had said in an ETimes interview that Vicky brings a certain kind of balance in her life. She had shared, “After marriage, there’s a lot of calmness and stability in my life with having Vicky around all the time. He’s the perfect counterbalance for the person that I am. I can be hyper, panicking, and overthinking, but he is the opposite of that. It’s a nice balance.”

EXCLUSIVE: Subhash Ghai talks about obsession of multiplexes with recliners; says, “main sone ke liye aaya hoon kya?”

Known as the ‘Showman’ of Bollywood, Subhash Ghai has made some of the biggest films in tinsel town. While this filmmaker has given us masterpieces like Hero, Khalnayak, Pardes, among others spoke about the changing phase of Bollywood films and recalled the times when filmmaking was a different business altogether. In the recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the filmmaker spoke about how cinema viewing experience has become luxurious and how the ample comfort in multiplexes also become a part of the surging ticket prices.

Speaking about it with Bollywood Hungama, Subhash Ghai said, “Badi khursiyan bana li hai multiplexes ne ki main let sakta hoon. Main let ke picture kyun dekhu? Aap letke picture dekhenge? Main sone ke liye aaya hoon kya? Mujhe film dekhni hai and I have to be on the edge-of-my-seat for 2-3 hours. But multiplexes are like ‘Nahi main aapko aise nahi baithne doonga aapko letna hi padega!’ Capital expenditure itna kardiya theatre walon ne multiplex banake. (Multiplexes have made massive seats where I can sleep and watch films. But why do I have to lie down and watch? Will you lie down and watch a film? I have not come to theatres to catch up on my sleep. I wanna watch a film and should be on the edge-of-my-seat for about 2-3 hours. But multiplexes are hell bent on making you lie down and watch films! Because of all this, the capital expenditure have become so high.)”

He added, “Humne maanga tha aapse ki sound aur screen achhi honi chahiye aur thoda comfortable and saaf-suthra. But unka rona bhi teek hi hai ki humein parvarta nahi hai isiliye ticket prices bada diya. Stars ko bhi utna hi price bhi chahiye… it’s all a loop. (What did we (filmmakers) ask for? We just wanted good sound and a good screen as well as little cleanliness and comfort for the public. I agree, the theatre owners are right in their part of increasing ticket prices because they find it difficult to maintain at that expense. Add to that, the stars also want a higher price because it will contribute to their box office collections).”

Subhash Ghai, who also teaches filmmaking at his institute Whistling Woods, return to production in 2022 after seven years. Ever since he produced Hero, a remake of his own film featuring Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Seshadri in 1983, featuring the then debutants Sooraj Pancholi (son of Aditya Pancholi) and Athiya Shetty (daughter of Suniel Shetty), Ghai stayed away from production. He returned to it and also wrote the story of his latest release 36 Farmhouse that released in January 2022 and featured an ensemble cast.

Karisma Kapoor ups the ante for wedding guests in a blue kurta set from Raw Mango

Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt and Mithun Chakraborty come together for an action entertainer and it feels like the 90s all over again

Known for their quintessential commercial Bollywood films, Sunny Deol and Jackie Shroff are currently seen only in limited projects. While the latter recently had PhoneBhoot in which he played the antagonist, Sunny Deol was last seen this year in Chup – Revenge of an Artist, which featured him in the role of a cop. On the other hand, along with them was Sanjay Dutt, who gave one of the biggest hits this year with KGF Chapter 2. The actor also played an antagonist in the Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor starrer Shamshera. Now, we hear that these three 90s superstars are all set to come together in one film and it will also feature veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty.

Interestingly, the first look of the four stars was posted on social media earlier today. The look of Sanjay Dutt in this picture reminded us of him from his 2000 films like Kaante and Plan whereas Jackie featured in his 90s popular look, where he sported a small scarf tied around his neck. The look had Sunny donning a bearded, long hair look whereas Mithun Chakraborty was seen in a salt-n-pepper look. While the title of the film is kept under wraps, the makers revealed that it will be an action entertainer.

It will be directed by Vivek Chauhan who will be making his Bollywood directorial debut with this film. In the past, Vivek has previously worked as an assistant for shows and even films like Tanu Weds Manu Returns. The film will be produced by Ahmed Khan and Shaira Ahmed Khan in association with Zee Studios.

Rashmika Mandanna calls herself ‘a punching bag for trolls’; says, “I’m being ridiculed and mocked by the internet”

Rashmika Mandanna, who is gearing up for the release of Vijay starrer Varisu, recently took to her social media to speak about how trolls impacted her. The actress also spoke about how her statements were often misquoted and misrepresented in the media. Rashmika penned a long note about how she has been at the receiving end of a lot of hate, explaining how these things affected her.

The Pushpa actress shared a pic from a scenic backdrop, and wrote a long caption against having been a punching bag of the trolls at the beginning of her career and hoping to do the best kind of work that makes her and her audiences proud. In the caption, she wrote, “Hi so… A couple of things have been troubling me these last few days or weeks or months or maybe even years now and I think it’s time I address it. I am only speaking for myself – something I should have done years ago. I have been on the receiving end of a lot of hate ever since I started my career. Quite literally a punching bag for a lot of trolls and negativity out there.

She went on to add, “I know that the life I’ve chosen comes with a price– I understand that I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and certainly don’t expect to be loved by every single person out there. That doesn’t mean because you don’t approve of me you can spew negativity instead. Only I know the kind of work I put in, day in and day out to make you all happy. The happiness you feel from the work I put out is what I care about most. I really am trying the best I can to put out things that both you and I are proud of. It’s heart breaking and frankly quite demoralizing when I’m being ridiculed and mocked by the internet especially for things that I HAVE NOT SAID.”

She further shared, “I’ve found that bits of things I’ve said in interviews are being turned against me. False narratives being spread across the internet that can be very harmful to me and the relationships I have in or outside the industry. I welcome constructive criticism because that’s only going to push me to improve and do better. But what’s with the vile negativity and hate? For the longest time I’ve been told to ignore it. But it has only gotten worse. By addressing it, I’m not trying to win anyone over. I don’t want to feel closeted and forced to change as a human being because of this hate I keep receiving.”

After Disha Patani’s exit due to her unprofessionalism, Ekta Kapoor approaches Shraddha Kapoor and Tara Sutaria for KTina

Back in 2019, Bollywood Hungama reported that Ekta Kapoor had roped in Disha Patani to star in the film KTina. In fact, the actress was to commence work on the film post her shoot for the Salman Khan starrer Radhe in the same year. Though the film began shooting with Disha Patani, now we hear that Balaji Productions is looking to make a casting change in the film. If what we hear is true, then Ekta has apparently approached both Shraddha Kapoor and Tara Sutaria for the film.

Updating Bollywood Hungama exclusively a source close to the production tells us, “Disha Patani was confirmed for the film and even did the pre-production meetings and shoot in 2019. The film was shot for about 5 to 7 days. However, everything was on hold with the pandemic and lockdowns. Now, the makers are looking to make a casting change.” Prod the source on what the sudden change mid-way through the filming process and he continues, “Post the lockdown, multiple issues began cropping up between the lead actress (Disha Patani) and the producers. In fact, even during the shoot, there were issues between Disha and Balaji Motion Pictures on creative aspects. From creative differences to more mundane starry airs from Disha’s side, that led to widening rifts; it was becoming difficult for Ekta and Disha to be on the same page. Now, given that KTina is based on Ekta Kapoor’s real life, she was very involved with the project and wanted everything to be perfect. With less than cordial behaviour of the female lead, Ekta had no choice but to pull the plug and sack Disha.”

Further talking about the new cast, the source continues, “As of now, Ekta Kapoor has approached both Shraddha Kapoor and Tara Sutaria to be a part of KTina. Talks with both are on to replace Disha Patani. In light of this change, filming has ground to a halt, and will resume once the change in the cast is made.” Interestingly, while the source claims that a cast change will be made despite portions of the film is already shot, he adds that once a new lead actress has been finalized, the shoot will resume from the beginning. “The problems between Disha Patani and Ekta have been evident for a while now, in fact, Ananya Panday and Nushrratt Bharuccha had also been approached for the film. Unfortunately, neither of the two worked out, and the makers have now moved to Shraddha and Tara,” says the source.

As for the film, while it may still be a while before shooting will resume, KTina will feature the story of a small-town Punjabi Girl modelled on the likes of Ekta herself. The movie, was written by Raaj Shaandilyaa, directed by Ashima Chibber, and produced by Ekta Kapoor.
