CAT trailer out: Randeep Hooda plays a police informant in the Netflix original, watch

Spotlighting a parallel narrative spanning across two crucial timelines in Punjab, that shape the fate of one man and his family – Gurnam Singh, Netflix launched the trailer of its upcoming action-packed crime thriller CAT. Headlined by the versatile & intense Randeep Hooda, created & helmed by filmmaker Balwinder Singh Janjua, CAT goes beyond the romanticized version of Punjab and puts forth an authentic story of a brother’s love, remission and espionage. Produced by Movie Tunnel Productions in association with Jelly Bean Entertainment, CAT, available in Punjabi, Hindi and English, is slated to release on 9th December, only on Netflix.

CAT brings forth the story of Gurnaam Singh who is compelled to become a police informant once again in spite of donning a new identity and moving forward in life. While Gurnaam is not new to this, the stakes are high this time around. To secure his brother’s future, he finds himself plunged into the underbelly of politics, corruption and crime to bust a thriving drug cartel. Is he being used for personal gain in the process? Caught in the crosshairs of betrayal and deceit, will this game of cat and mouse take him down the rabbit hole?

Speaking about his foray into the direction, creator Balwinder Singh Janjua shares, “CAT is a very unique story and I am glad we could collaborate with Netflix to bring this story to life. As a writer and director, I will define CAT as a story of relationships – be it family, friendship or deceit! It’s a story set in Punjab and explores two timelines as well as the underbelly and its complexities through well-defined characters. We’ve shot in over 80 locations across Punjab to bring authenticity and flavour to the fore. Working on CAT has been a rewarding journey and I can’t wait for the audience to experience it.”

Sharing details about the series, Tanya Bami, Series Head, Netflix India, said, “Bringing distinctive and fresh stories is a core part of our series strategy and with CAT we are excited to have an authentic and gritty action thriller set in Punjab, available in Punjabi and Hindi. Randeep Hooda is an actor par excellence and we are excited with his unmissable performance. We are happy to bring Balwinder Singh Janjua’s unique young voice and his dynamic style through this series.”

Actor Randeep Hooda shares, “Gurnaam Singh is fierce yet calm, he is strong yet fragile and while you will find familiarity with this character,  you will not be able to guess his next move. I am thoroughly excited with CAT and that Balli (Balwinder Singh Janjua) has brought authenticity and genuineness to each and every scene.”

Along with Randeep Hooda, the series stars phenomenal actors such as  Suvinder Vicky, Hasleen Kaur, Geeta Aggarwal, Dakssh Ajit Singh, Sukhwinder Chahal, KP Singh, Kavya Thapar, Danish Sood and Pramod Pathal amongst others. 

CAT will be streaming on December 9, 2022, only on Netflix.

On the work front, Sara has the thriller of Gaslight, directed by Pawan Kriplani, Maddock Productions next alongside Vicky Kaushal which is touted to be a rom-com, and Dharma Productions’ Ae Watan Mere Watan, where she will be seen playing the role of Usha Mehta.

Sidharth Malhotra starrer Mission Majnu eyeing a digital release next year: Report

Siddharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Mission Majnu will directly release on OTT. The movie will be released on Netflix on January 18 next year. For the unversed, Mission Majnu will narrate a story based on India’s RAW operation in Pakistani.

As per a report by Pinkvilla, the streaming platform is expected to make an announcement regarding the same in the coming days. Quoting a source in the report, the portal said, “The makers have decided to release the film on January 18 on Netflix. The platform will make an official announcement soon.”

However, it is worth mentioning here that until either the makers or the streaming giant makes the official announcement to confirm the same, the accuracy and credibility of the information remain in question.

Coming back to Sidharth Malhotra, if the film actually gets a digital release, it will be Sid’s second film released on an OTT platform. Released on Prime Video, Shershaah was an instant hit. He was last seen in Thank God, released in theatres on October 25.

Along with him, the film also featured Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh. The comedy-drama performed poorly at the box office.

Currently, the Student Of The Year actor is shooting for his first collaboration with director Rohit Shetty. The filmmaker is all set to make his digital debut with a web series, titled Indian Police Force. A few days back, Sid was shooting a schedule in Delhi. The upcoming web series will also star Shilpa Shetty in a prominent role.

Kajol had a big crush on Akshay Kumar, reveals filmmaker Karan Johar on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10; watch

The recently launched trailer of the Kajol-starrer Salaam Venky has managed to garner a positive response. While a section of moviegoers is waiting for its release, the star cast has already kickstarted the promotions of the film. Interestingly, Kajol will grace the judges’ panel of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 10 this weekend. As her friend and filmmaker Karan Johar is already seated on the judges’ panel, the upcoming episodes will be filled with fun.

Apart from spectacular performances from the celebrity contestants, the viewers will also get a dose of entertainment. In a fun activity, host Maniesh Paul requested Kajol and Karan to come on the stage. Maniesh asks Karan to name Kajol’s crush from the film industry except for Ajay Devgn, who is her husband. While Karan immediately started writing the name on a black slate, Kajol can be seen sitting clueless.

“She had a big crush on…” says Karan and shows his slate, which read the name of actor Akshay Kumar. Without denying it, Kajol’s smile agreed with Karan’s answer. As the activity continues, Paul asks Kajol – what would be KJo’s alternative career if he was not a director. Writing a hilarious response to it Kajol suggested a choreographer. At the end of the promo video, Kajol and Karan re-create the popular characters Rahul and Anjali’s iconic greeting style.

Coming back to Salaam Venky, it also stars Vishal Jethwa of Mardaani 2 fame. The upcoming film is a heartwarming story of a mother-son duo that teaches the true meaning of the celebration of life.
