Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra to kick off Imtiaz Ali’s Chamkila on December 11

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is all set for his next directorial Chamkila, based on the life of Amar Singh Chamkila. Back in March 2022, it was reported that the biopic will be headlined by singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh whereas Parineeti Chopra will essay the role of Amarjot Kaur.

As per a report in a media portal, Parineeti Chopra has been busy prepping for the role for the past few months. Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti have done several workshops together. The filming will begin on December 11 and will be shot over a span of two months. There will be breaks in December and January 2023.

For unversed, Amar Singh Chamkila was a songwriter, musician, and composer. Hailing from Punjab, he became popular with the stage name Chamkila and was regarded as one of the best performers Punjab has ever produced. His music was very much influenced by his surroundings. The songs were a commentary on Punjab and its culture. His best-known hits include ‘Takue Te Takua’, and ‘Pehle Lalkare Naal’ among others.

In a tragic turn of events, Chamkila and his wife Amarjot Kaur were brutally assassinated and gunned down along with two members of his band on March 8, 1988. As reported back then, a group of armed youths on motorcycles fired several rounds fatally injuring all of them. No arrests were made at the time and the case has been unsolved to date.

Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh was last seen in the Punjabi film Babe Bhangra Paunde Ne. His last Hindi film was Good Newwz. He is currently on his music tour in India, which he kick-started in Mumbai on December 9.

On the other hand, Parineeti Chopra was last seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai last month. She has also signed the Akshay Kumar-starrer Capsule Gill.

Manushi Chhillar flies to Qatar to fulfil her dream of watching Lionel Messi at FIFA World Cup

Manushi Chhillar, who is neck deep prepping for her yet unannounced big film, has taken a few days off and flown to Qatar to fulfil her dream of watching the talismanic Argentinian icon Lionel Messi play at the FIFA World Cup!

Manushi reveals, “It’s always been my dream to witness Lionel Messi play in front of my eyes. Being an ardent fan of his, I have been planning all these years to get a glimpse of his genius on the football pitch. There is a lot of chatter that this could be his last football World Cup.”

Manushi has always supported Argentina because of Messi and she is thrilled to soak in the electrifying energy of watching a World Cup football match in a packed stadium.

She says, “Argentina is in the knockout stages right now and so there was no chance that I would miss seeing him play against the Netherlands which is a strong team! This is like a dream come true moment for me and I know I will be ecstatic to watch him play.”

The ethereally gorgeous actress adds, “I am really looking forward to witnessing the atmosphere and the euphoria of the stadium and cheering for Messi through the match! Most importantly this year, the World Cup is closer and I’m excited to witness the finals as well in person, instead of watching it on television like every other World Cup.”

On the work front, Manushi has just wrapped Tehran after her making her debut in Samrat Prithviraj opposite Akshay Kumar.

Rani Mukerji-starrer Mrs Chatterjee Vs. Norway to release in cinemas on March 3, 2023

The Rani Mukerji-starrer Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway is finally going to release in cinemas on March 3, 2023, as per a latest announcement by the makers. The film was earlier supposed to release on May 20, 2022. Produced by Zee Studios and Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani’s Emmay Entertainment, the movie is directed by Ashima Chibber.

Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway is inspired by a true story that rocked children and human rights at an international level. Throwing more light on the subject, an official statement from the makers said, “The film recounts the story of an immigrant Indian mother’s battle against the Norwegian foster care system and local legal machinery to win back the custody of her children.”

When Rani had completed the shoot of the movie in October last year, she had said, “Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway is an inspirational story about a mother fighting a country for her children and I went through a rollercoaster of emotions shooting this film. I had an amazing time shooting with my producers Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, Nikkhil Advani, Zee Studios, and director Ashima Chibber and I’m hoping that this film will resonate with everyone who wants to see an entertainer with a brilliant concept at its fore.”

Chibber had made her debut back in 2013 with the comedy Mere Dad Ki Maruti for Yash Raj Films, which starred Saqib Saleem, Ram Kapoor and Rhea Chakraborty.

Pathaan: Siddharth Anand confirms the release of ‘Besharam Rang’ on December 12; says, “This one is the party anthem of the season”

Just a day ago, we had announced that the first song from the film Pathaan will be releasing on December 12. Now the makers of the Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham starrer has confirmed the same adding that the dance number ‘Besharam Rang’ picturized on the leading man and leading lady will indeed release on the said date.

As revealed by Siddharth earlier, the makers of Pathaan are trying to keep the plot of this action entertainer a secret and have devised a strategy to release the songs of the film before the trailer drops. The first song from the film to release Besharam Rang’, will hit the tube on Monday, December 12. ‘The song is supposedly set to present Deepika Padukone in her hottest best and showcase breath-taking chemistry between her and Shah Rukh Khan. SRK and Deepika are one of the biggest on-screen pairings in the history of Indian cinema given their epic blockbusters Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year.

Coming to the song, the two shot for the peppy dance number in Spain as leaked photos from the sets of ‘Besharam Rang’ took the internet by storm! The duo shot this massively mounted song in Mallorca and later, headed to Cadiz and Jerez in Spain where they wrapped the schedule on March 27.

Talking about the song release, director Siddharth revealed, “Yes, it is true that the first song of our film is releasing on Monday. It’s called ‘Besharam Rang’ and it will present two of the biggest superstars of our generation Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in their hottest avatar yet.” He added, “For us, this one is the party anthem of the season that people have been waiting for and I’m confident that it will stay a party anthem for many, many years to come. So, I want to tell the fans and audience to patiently wait for the song when it releases on Monday morning! The wait for this one will be worth every second from now!”

Producer Aditya Chopra and director Siddharth Anand are putting in all the effort to make Pathaan one of the biggest ever action spectacle for audiences. The Yash Raj Films’ action extravaganza is a part of Aditya Chopra’s ambitious spy universe. Going by the adrenaline pumping stunts, readers may have understood that Shah Rukh Khan plays a gun-toting spy with a license to kill in the film. Pathaan is set to release on January 25, 2023 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Inside the home of Akshay Kumar: From a sea-facing lawn to iconic sculptures, the actor’s house is nothing less than a dream

For the first time ever, Akshay Kumar introduced social media users to lavish and luxurious home in Mumbai. We all have seen bits and pieces of his residence in his and his wife Twinkle Khanna’s posts. But for the first time ever, we got a sneak peek into his living room, the massive lawn at the entrance and a glimpse of the sea-facing backyard. The video posted by the superstar is for introducing his new collection of apparel brand Force IX.

The video kicks off with Akshay Kumar confessing that it is the first time he decided to host an interview inside his house as he always to do it outside his residence. As he introduces audiences about his new venture, the superstar also takes us through the living room which is filled with art, paintings, and even unique sculptures. The video also showcases a beautiful lawn landscape design with ample seating and a massive Ganesha idol can be seen at the entrance. As the actor takes us to his wardrobe in the bedroom, we also get a sneak peek of the sea-facing backyard, where the actor is often seen exercising in the morning.

Coming to his wardrobe, he introduces his apparel brand Force IX as comfort wear which also comprises of casual wear like tees, hoodies, and sweatpants. The actor also spoke about how he loves wearing such simple clothes and loves to spend time in them because of how comfortable he feels in them. Introducing the brand, the actor also posted a note on the caption saying, “#ForceIX mera soon to be launched fashion brand hain, jisse humne bahot dil se banaya hain. Meanwhile, on the film front, Akshay Kumar has Selfiee with Emraan Hashmi, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan with Tiger Shroff, Startup, among others in the pipeline. The actor also recently posted his Shivaji Raje look from the Marathi film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, in which he will be seen in a cameo.

Box Office: Drishyam 2 is top grossing film of last week, Bhediya follows, An Action Hero is low

It was Drishyam 2 all the way as it continued to bring in best numbers amongst all others in the running, including holdover release Bhediya and new release An Action Hero. In fact Bhediya was also collecting more than An Action Hero but more about that later.

Talking about Drishyam 2, the film kept bringing in collections in the range of Rs. 2-3 crores during the weekdays and while a haul of over Rs. 3 crores from Monday to Thursday would have enhanced the collections even better, there is an open week ahead where it will add on good moolah, which otherwise wouldn’t have come in had there been any major release. Currently, the film stands at Rs. 196.25 crores* and by tomorrow it will hit the double century. In fact there is some good jump witnessed then it could well go past Golmaal Again (Rs. 205.70 crores) lifetime as well during this time.

Meanwhile, Bhediya stayed on the lower side during the weekdays and brought in around Rs. 3 crores more. The film now stands at Rs. 55 crores* and while Rs. 60 crores would come in during its lifetime, that would be about it for the creature comedy. The film deserved to enter the Rs. 100 Crore Club and while that hasn’t come in, at the very least it should have hit the Rs. 80 crores mark. Rest assured, it will find some good traction coming its way when it arrives on OTT.

As for An Action Hero, in the hindsight it could well have debuted straight on the OTT. It did have an interesting promo and back then it did seem that the film will actually open well, but neither did the film get an opening, nor growth over the weekend and then there wasn’t much over the weekdays as well. As a result, the film currently stands at Rs. 8.50 crores* and the lifetime will unfortunately stay under the Rs. 10 crores mark. This is yet another instance of a good movie just not fetching attention of the audiences.

Hema Malini and Esha Deol share photos of cake cutting ceremony of Dharmendra

Just a day ago, veteran star Dharmendra turned a year older and fans and family made his day even more special by celebrating it in an intimate affair. While son Sunny Deol and grandson Karan Deol planned a havan for the well-being of the Bollywood star, Dharamji’s wife and actress Hema Malini rang in his birthday with a cake cutting ceremony. The yesteryear star and the couple’s daughter Esha Deol took to social media to share photos from the birthday celebrations.

Hema Malini took to Twitter to share a series of photos from the low-key and intimate birthday celebrations of Dharmendra. While there was a mandatory photo with daughters Esha Deol, Ahana Deol, and son-in-law Bharat Takhtani, there were a few other photos of the yesteryear popular Bollywood couple too. It also featured a photo where Hema is seen feeding cake to her husband lovingly. The original ‘Dreamgirl’ captioned it saying, “Birthday Celebrations today – at home”.

On the work front, Dharmendra will next be seen alongside Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan in the Karan Johar directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani that is expected to release in 2023. Besides that he also has Apne 2 with sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol in the pipeline. Just a day ago, it was announced that the veteran actor has signed on another interesting project titled IKKIS which will star Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, i.e. Shweta Bachchan’s son Agastya Nanda and is directed by Sriram Raghavan.
