Following a blockbuster success in 2022, the film is in the Oscars 2023 race already and has two Golden Globes nominations and several wins at different award ceremonies. With that being said, the film has been selected for BAFTA 2023 longlist.
The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) on Friday announced longlists in 24 categories for the upcoming ceremony. RRR made it to the ‘Film Not in the English Language’ longlist. The nominations will be out on January 19, 2023. The awards ceremony is set to take place on February 19 at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall.
It has been reported that actors Ram Charan and Jr. NTR and filmmaker SS Rajamouli will attend the Golden Globes 2023. The ceremony is set to take place on January 11 in Los Angeles. For the uninitiated, the RRR song, ‘Naatu Naatu’ and the film itself are nominated in Best Original Song and Best Foreign Film categories respectively.
According to the Bollywood Hungama box office report, the film made a lifetime collection of Rs. 274.31 crores in Hindi. RRR is a multi-starrer action drama, starring Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt, and is amongst the most acclaimed Indian films of the last year.

The Hollywood biggie recorded blockbuster collections in the third week as well with around Rs 55 crores coming in. On the other hand, Ved registered a superb first week of over Rs 20 crores.
Let’s talk about the James Cameron biggie first. The film closed the third week at Rs 344 crores* and that further reaffirmed its all-time blockbuster status. In the process, the lifetime numbers of Bollywood biggies Sanju (Rs 342.53 crores) and PK (Rs 340.80 crores) have been surpassed in three weeks flat. The only Bollywood film to do bigger business is Dangal (Rs 387.38 crores) and that too shall be surpassed in due course of time.
Meanwhile, Ved is a big success story in the making. The first week collections came to Rs 20.67 crores and that’s in fact greater than what several Bollywood biggies failed to score during their entire lifetime in 2022. It is now a given that the film will enjoy a lifetime of at least Rs 50 crores and that would make it a definite blockbuster. For Riteish Deshmukh, this is a shot in the arm as in Bollywood and on OTT he had seen a few setbacks of late. However, he has returned to his roots with Ved and the results are there to be seen with audiences relishing all the entertainment that the film has to offer.

The source adds, “Aditya Chopra now wants to mark these films as a part of YRF’s spy universe in the public consciousness and thus, the move to brand them in the form of a new logo that says Pathaan is part of ‘YRF Spy Universe’. This new logo will be present in Pathaan’s trailer and then will keep appearing in the Tiger & War series of films. No other franchise has been mounted on a scale like this, nor have they made such an impact on box office and audiences globally.”
The source further says, “With this spy universe, YRF as a studio now has two of the biggest franchises in the history of Indian cinema including the Dhoom series. Aditya Chopra is also the maker of the most successful female cop franchise, Mardaani. Coincidentally, the YRF spy universe logo is being launched on the 10th year of the blockbuster Ek Tha Tiger’s release in 2012!“
The insider adds, “This film was the first one of the spy universe and paved the way for Adi to dream big with this universe. So, it could be YRF’s hat tip to Ek Tha Tiger. So, slowly but silently, YRF has produced a franchise that has the potential to rope in all the top stars of the country as the universe is only going to expand from here on.”

The appeal comes at a time when Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, has been facing controversies and protests.
FWICE wrote in the statement, “The recent trend of ‘#Boycott Bollywood’ has been affecting the producers and lakhs of workers working for the films and it has been seriously noted by the FWICE as it has raised a major situation of survival of the common workers, technicians and the artists who are earning their daily bread from this industry.”
The statement also mentioned the anti-Bollywood sentiments being spread on the internet. It said, “A film is made with passion and dream of success. However, these blooming dreams get shattered by such trends which are many times influenced by people believing in hatred and those who do not support peace, harmony and unity. People have been barging into the theatres and threatening the public and forcefully vacating the theatres. There have been threats to the producers and the lead actor/actresses. They are abused on social media platforms with filthy/vulgar language.”
FWICE also mentioned that if anyone has any objection against the content of any movie, they should directly write to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). It mentioned, “We strongly condemn these acts and the boycotting of any film which is already certified by the final cell of the film authorities which is the CBFC. Getting a film certified through the CBFC is itself an achievement as the film and the filmmakers are going through the entire process of certification. The protestors of the film should thus follow the right channel and report their grievances against the film to the CBFC and other governing authorities rather than blindly coming up with such a destructive trend to blatantly boycott the entire industry.”
“FWICE stands strong in support of the producers who are creating films and generating employment to lakhs of people and help them to earn their living and survive with dignity. We urge the government to intervene in the matter and stop this trend of ‘Boycott Bollywood,’” the statement concluded.
Over the last few years, Bollywood has witnessed boycott trends on social media platforms. In recent times, Pathaan has been embroiled in controversies as certain sections are calling for a boycott of the film.
