Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu and her 2021 release Haseen Dillruba have once again broken the internet as makers have made the official announcement of its sequel. Since then, the star and the makers including writer Kanika Dhillon have been sharing updates of its shooting with fans. After all their fun banter on Twitter, Taapsee has written an appreciation post for Kanika Dhillon.
On Wednesday, Pannu took to her verified Instagram handle and shared two photos, which seemed to be clicked during the script reading session. In both photos, the actress-writer duo can be seen sharing a hearty laugh. Instagramming the two-photo post, Taapsee wrote, “After the experiences that taught us so much with the first one. After the numerous push n push backs. After the resilience being tested to stand by a film we truly believed in.”
The Badla actress further added, “Here’s to the ultimate validation of sorts with my partner in crime(literally) / Here’s to laughing through our biggest hurdles yet another time,” followed by a hashtag reading the title of the sequel, “Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba.” Expressing their excitement, fans flooded the comments section with red hearts and fire emoticons.

Days before Anand L Rai and the team unveiled the poster of Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba to announce the sequel, Vikrant Massey has confirmed it during an event in IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Bombay. Speaking of the project, he said, “A lot of it is going to be really different. Except for me and Taapsee, there are so many new things. It’s another crazy experience. We had not kept expectations earlier too that it will be so loved, the story, the world around the story. The amount of love we got for the film we thought.”
For the unversed, helmed by Vinil Mathew and written by Kanika Dhillon, Haseen Dillruba is a crime cum romantic drama, which was released on Netflix on July 2, 2021. Besides Pannu and Massey, Harshvardhan Rane also played a pivotal role in it.

Karan Johar is one of the most prolific filmmakers in India. His father, Yash Johar, who founded Dharma Productions, was a producer and filmmaker too. Johar often remembers his father and shares fond memories with him on social media. Karan Johar recently revealed on Masters’ Union’s Business Of Bollywood podcast how he had to take the charge after his father’s passing but had no clue about the business or where the begin. He recalled how he received a letter from a family friend, which was penned by Yash Johar because he knew that Karan was clueless about the business aspect at the time.
“The fourth day after my father passed away, we had a prayer meeting and I came back to the office sitting all alone thinking how am I gonna take this company? I don’t even know where my money is? I don’t because my dad did everything for my mom and me. I was totally spoilt, one day I came back from an IIFA award and my father wanted me to sign cheques and I wrote lots of love because I was used to signing autographs, I was that disconnected from finance,” Karan Johar said.
Karan Johar remembered how the friend gave the letter, and said, “He came with a letter that my father had left behind for me. It was a business letter, it wasn’t an emotional letter. That letter actually said where the funds were in terms of your mutual funds, your investments. He even said these are people you trust these are people you don’t trust. This is how you should take the business forward. It became kind of my Bible. So I took that Bible like five to six pages of detailed things about bank accounts and bank where money is, where property investments are.”
Yash Johar died of cancer in June 2004. The filmmaker had produced several movies in his career including Agneepath, Dostana, Duplicate, Duniya, Gumrah, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kal Ho Naa Ho among others.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar is set for his next directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film releases in April 2023.

January 11 witnessed the box office clash between Ajith Kumar and Thalapathy Vijay. And according to early estimates, Thalapathy Vijay’s family entertainer, Varisu has taken a lower opening than Ajith Kumar’s action thriller, Thunivu, in Tamil Nadu. The Vamshi film has collected in the range of Rs. 17 to 19 cr. in Tamil Nadu, thereby falling short of the Ajith Kumar film by a margin of 5 percent.
However, this has primarily happened because of capacity issues, as on the opening and occupancy front, Varisu was neck to neck with Thunivu. The latter however managed to get bigger screens due to the hold of distributor, Red Giant Film in Tamil Nadu. The state occupancy of Varisu was around 87% as compared to 85% of Thunivu, however, the numbers are slightly lower because smaller screens were alloted to Varisu. The movie is produced by Dil Raju and is being appreciated by the family audience for providing wholesome entertainment. Given the festive season, it is set to emerge as another clean hit for Thalapathy Vijay.
Had Varisu got a solo release, it was poised to easily take a record opening for not just Thalapathy Vijay but also Kollywood Industry. Industry experts suggest that a solo release would have pushed Varisu to an opening day in Tamil Nadu of Rs. 37 to 40 crore.
With a bumper opening, all eyes are now on hold in collections on the second and third day. Some industry experts feel that Varisu might show a better hold in collections than Thunivu through the festive period because of the genre, which is more friendly to the Pongal audience. In fact, Tamil Industry is sure of the fact that the long-run winner of this Pongal clash would be Varisu.
