Joyland, previously banned by Pakistan, to release in India on March 10

The much-talked-about Pakistani movie Joyland, which spoke of gender identity, is finally getting an India release. The film, which was highly criticized in Pakistan by certain sections and even banned for a period of time, will be hitting Indian theatres on March 10, 2023.

The release dates of the movie were shared on the film’s official Instagram page. “We’re so excited to share Joyland with audiences all around the world! Catch Joyland in theatres in Spain, the UK, Switzerland, India, BeNeLux and Eastern Europe,” the caption read on the post.

Starring Ali Junejo, Rasti Farooq, Alina Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Sohail Sameer, Salman Peerzada, and Sania Saeed, Joyland is a daring, soul-searching film that delves deep into the challenging complexities of desire and gender identity through the lens of the Rana Family.

Joyland was sent as Pakistan’s official entry for Best International Feature Film for Oscars 2023. It was also the first film from the country to be selected for the Cannes Film Festival. It won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section.

Written and directed by Saim Sadiq, it is produced by Apoorva Guru Charan, Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, Sabiha Sumar, and Lauren Mann.

Nushrratt Bharuccha shares a glimpse from the shoot of Akelli, see photo

Nushrratt Bharuccha is all set to headline another solo lead project Akelli. Well, prior to this, she had the solo lead in Chhorii 1 & will also be seen in the sequel. While the second part is yet to release, the first part of Chhorii became one of the most critically acclaimed projects of her.

Taking to social media, she shared a sneak peek into the shooting of Akelli on her social media.

Akelli is helmed by Pranay Meshram, who has worked as an associate director for various projects and will debutant as a director with this film. The film is produced by Dashami Studioz’ Nitin Vaidya, Ninad Vaidya, Aparna Padgaonkar along with Vicky Sidana & Shashant Shah.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Nushrratt Bharuccha is also shooting for Chhorii 2. She has an interesting lineup of films like Selfiee alongside Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi. She also has Akelli in the pipeline, which is another solo lead film by the actress.

MM Keeravani to perform his nominated song ‘Naatu Naatu’ at the Oscars

M M Keeravani who has given India the hope of winning an Oscar for Best Song, is getting ready to perform his nominated song ‘Naatu Naatu’ live at the Oscars ceremony on March 12 in Los Angeles.

Keeravani whose song stands a very good chance of winning the Oscar, is nervous about facing an august gathering of the most distinguished Hollywood personalities. “I am confident about winning. But performing the song live in front of such a gathering needs a lot of preparation and rehearsals,” says Keeravani.

One of his primary concerns is his weight. “For too long now I’ve neglected my health. It was only at the Golden Globe when even standing and giving the speech became a problem that I became aware of my obesity. I am out of shape. If the body is not healthy, the mind cannot be fully functional. If I am going to compose more songs that make my country proud, I’ve to be healthy in both body and mind.”

Sonam Kapoor starrer Blind gets delayed further; film finds no taker on OTT due to high asking price of Rs. 40 cr.

The Sonam Kapoor was last seen on the big screen in the 2019 film The Zoya Factor. Since then the star who, ensured she made a fashion statement every time she stepped out has been missing from films. However, post her delivery Sonam has been eager to return to films, with the official remake of the 2011 Korean film Blind. While initially the film was salted to release in theatres in 2022, it was delayed due to pandemic restrictions. Following this, the makers of Blind opted for an OTT release; however it seems that the venture has been wading through troubled waters since then. Now, Bollywood Hungama has learnt that the Sonam starrer Blind has been delayed yet again.

As per the grapevine, it is learnt that the makers of Blind are having a tough time finding takers among the OTT platforms for the film. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama a well-placed industry source says, “Initially Blind was to see a theatrical release, but due to the pandemic, it was decided to release the film directly on OTT. Now, while the theatrical release of the film still remains a formality, the makers of the film are having a tough time finding takers for its OTT release.” Detailing the issue the film faces further the source continues, “The makers of Blind are looking to sell the film for a staggering Rs. 40 cr. This high asking amount is keeping OTT players in the market away. Though the film will continue with its theatrical release pattern, it has now only become a formality before its sale to any streaming platform. However, with no OTT platform ready to shell out Rs. 40 cr. to acquire the venture, the release of Blind seems to be in limbo.”

Explaining why OTT platforms are facing doubts with the venture the source adds, “The makers of Blind have quoted a staggering Rs. 40 cr. for streaming rights of the venture. Unfortunately, in today’s times, such an amount, shelling out such an amount is risky according to streaming platforms. Basically, neither the makers of Blind are ready to back down from the asking price and nor are steaming platforms ready to spend a sum like that on acquisition. Given this, Blind is certainly stuck in bind.”

While it remains unclear what the makers of Blind will decide on its release, it remains to be seen whether the film will be acquired for a theatrical release. As for the film, Blind went on floors in December 2020 in Glasgow, Scotland and the shoot was completed in a start-to-finish schedule by February 2021. Initially expected to be a direct to OTT release, the makers later decided for a theatrical release. However, for reasons unknown they went back to their original plan of skipping a theatrical release.

Blind, which is an official remake of the 2011 Korean film by the same name, tells the story of a blind police office in search of a serial killer. Directed by debutant director Shome Makhija, the film also stars Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, and Lillete Dubey.

Sidharth Malhotra – Kiara Advani Wedding: DJ Ganesh, Mishaal Advani, Hari-Sukhmani entertain guests at the grand mehendi ceremony

Another Bollywood pair is getting hitched today. Shershaah co-stars Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, who have been quietly dating for a couple of years, are all set to tie the knot on February 7. The bride-to-be Kiara reached Suryagarh Palace on February 4 afternoon ahead of the wedding festivities. She was joined by designer Manish Malhotra. Sidharth Malhotra and his family reached Jaisalmer on Saturday evening whereas several celebrities reached on Sunday.

It seems like the wedding festivities began on February 5. On Monday, the mehendi ceremony was lit by DJ Ganesh, Mishaal Advani, and Hari-Sukhmani who entertained the guests. Reports suggest both Sidharth and Kiara set the dance floor on fire with their performances. Both families put up performances during the ceremony.

More than 100 dishes from 10 countries will be served at the wedding. The menu reportedly includes Italian, Chinese, American, South Indian, Mexican, Rajasthani, Punjabi, and Gujarati cuisines. It is also being reported that Jaisalmer’s Ghotwan Ladoo are being served amongst the sweets. Sidharth Malhotra has ensured special care for the guests who arrived from Delhi and Punjab.

Bollywood Hungama reported on Saturday that Kiara Advani’s brother Mishaal Advani is set to perform a special song for the couple. “As it is known that Kiara is very close to her brother Mishaal, the latter has made a song for the Shershaah pair. He will perform it during the sangeet ceremony.” Mishaal is a rapper, composer and music producer and he released his first track ‘Know My Name’ in November 2022.

On the work front, Kiara Advani was last seen in Govinda Naam Mera. She will next star in Satyaprem Ki Katha alongside Kartik Aaryan and RC15 with South superstar Ram Charan. Meanwhile, Sidharth Malhotra was most recently seen in Mission Majnu. He has the Rohit Shetty cop series Indian Police Force as well as Yodha with Raashii Khanna and Disha Patani slated for release.

Aishwarya Rai has the sweetest birthday wish for husband Abhishek Bachchan as he turns 47

On February 5, 2023, Abhishek Bachchan, aka Junior Bachchan, turned 47. The actor is frequently regarded as one of Bollywood’s most underappreciated performers. Recently his wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan shared a beautiful note on her social media account wishing the actor on his birthday.

Amitabh Bachchan has previously revealed his feelings on Abhishek turning 47 a day earlier. Considering Abhishek’s accomplishments from last year Amitabh wrote on his blog, “How time has flown by… going back in time all the memories of the day and the several days that kept giving us the joy and the pride and the pleasure of Abhishek… and now to see him achieve his worth through his hard work, quietly, and proving all the naysayers wrong! On the professional front, in addition to the social drama Dasvi with Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur, Abhishek Bachchan was most recently seen in the second season of the criminal thriller Breathe: Into The Shadows. The actor has two significant movies in development in addition to an appearance in Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa. His current project is Ghoomer by R. Balki. Recently, producer Anand Pandit had revealed the sequel to his 2021 movie The Big Bull and confirmed his comeback as the lead actor.
