Sobhita Dhulipala opens up about her character in The Night Manager; says, “There is a visible parallel between Kaveri and water”

Sobhita Dhulipala has constantly tried to make an impression with her intriguing performances and roles. In The Night Manager, she slips into the mysterious role of Kaveri. Talking about her character, Sobhita Dhulipala says, “There’s a certain intrigue to Kaveri. On better days, you feel like you get a sense of who she is, but you could never be too sure of what she is.”

Being a water person Sobhita enjoyed her character’s aqueous antecedents, “There is a very visible parallel that’s drawn between Kaveri and water throughout the show. They both can be so gentle, so nourishing, but also very tumultuous and deep. Kaveri seems like that. She has this tenderness as well as a current within her.”

Sobhita comes from an aquatic family and feels a deep affinity to water. “I have in the past been compared with water’s energy and I thought it was a tremendous compliment. So, to be able to give form to that feeling, that connection I feel with it…it’s great. My father is a sailor. And I spent many of my younger years at sea, also the home I grow up in was by the shore. I also love the name Kaveri and I always thought when I have my own child, I’d name him/her by a river! So, I think there’s, resonance, all of it really comes together for me.”

Pathaan: “It would be great if Aditya Chopra wants to bring Jim back” – John Abraham hopes for a prequel

YRF’s Spy Universe unleashed its most notorious villain in the form of John Abraham aka Jim in Pathaan. A patriot-turned-ruthless mercenary, John has got unanimous praise for his brilliant acting and forte in action sequences in this negative character that has won people’s hearts. John hopes Aditya Chopra, who is carefully building the YRF Spy Universe, brings Jim back and tells the world his backstory.

John, who has given Indian cinema an anti-hero that people will always remember, says, “It is incredible the amount of love that I have been receiving for playing Jim in Pathaan! As an actor, I only work for the love of audiences and fans. Records and milestones are a huge bonus and I’m grateful that Pathaan is such a historic blockbuster. I didn’t expect that people would love my character so much that they want more of Jim to be given to them.”

He adds, “I’m astounded by the number of messages I’m getting daily on my social media about how there should be a prequel to Jim. When people almost always root for the hero, and that hero is Shah Rukh Khan in Pathaan, it is hugely gratifying that people are rooting for the anti-hero too! I’m fortunate that my work in Pathaan has spoken loudly and hopefully, I have managed to give people an anti-hero that they will always remember. That was my intent when I heard Pathaan.”

Speaking about what he loves about Jim, the leader of notorious Outfit X, a band of deadly gun-toting mercenaries on hire, John says, “Jim is a refreshingly suave villain, with very well etched out characterisation that dives into why he became what he became! Imagine the pain he endured, imagine the hurt that broke him and turned him into the man he became. To me, Jim was a very powerful character and yes, it would be great if Aditya Chopra wants to bring him back and tell the world how good a super-spy he was and how he became a ruthless mercenary later!”

He adds, “As Luthra says in Pathaan, Jim and Kabir are the best in business. So, there could be lots to explore if a film is made about Jim. I don’t know what Aditya Chopra has in mind. As of now, I’m relishing the love that’s coming my way and I’m thankful that I have entertained people thoroughly.”

Pathaan Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan starrer surpasses Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan, emerges as all-time highest grosser at the U.A.E/G.C.C box office

The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan was released a while back and since then there has been no stopping the film. Directed by Siddharth Anand Pathaan which also stars Deepika Padukone, John Abraham witnessed a release across 2,500 screens in the overseas market. And much like the domestic response, Pathaan has seen a highly positive response from the audience overseas as well. In fact, in the overseas market of U.A.E/G.C.C the business of Pathaan has been on an upward trend since its release.

Now, after its second weekend running, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan, which collected AED 41,909,044 [Rs. 94.27 cr.], has managed to surpass the Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan which had collected AED 34,681,000. With this, the Yash Raj Films production has now emerged as the all-time highest-grosser at the U.A.E/G.C.C box office. Besides this, Pathaan has managed to surpass other big-ticket releases like Dangal, which collected AED 32,200,000, Sultan, which collected AED 31,400,000, and Dilwale which collected AED 30,800,000 amongst others.

As of now, Pathaan, which faces little to no competition from newer releases, looks set to dominate the box office window in its second week. In fact, trade predictions state that the business of the film is sure to see a further increase in collections as the days’ progress.

Raveena Tandon on her broken engagement with Akshay Kumar: ‘Once I had moved out of his life, I was already dating someone else’

Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon were once a hit on-screen pair. Reportedly, they were engaged in real life too when they called it quits and moved on with their respective partners. The actress recently spoke about her past relationship and how the ‘broken engagement’ haunted her for years.

Speaking with ANI, Raveena Tandon spoke on several topics including her reported relationship with Kumar. She said, “It comes up, and it comes up like there’s a war between everyone whom he’s involved with. Hello, once I had moved out of his life, I was already dating someone else, and he was already dating someone else, so kahan se jealousy aayegi (where will jealousy come from)?”

She further said, “We were a hit pair, during Mohra, and even now, when we bump into each other socially, we all meet, we all chat. Everyone moves on. Girls have been changing their boyfriends every week in colleges, but one engagement that has broken is still stuck in my head, I don’t know why. Everyone moves on, people have divorced, they move on, what’s the big deal?”

On the work front, Raveena Tandon was last seen in KGF: Chapter 2. She will be seen in Arbaaz Khan’s Patna Shukla along with Satish Kaushik and Chandan Roy Sanyal. She also has an untitled project with Disney+ Hotstar.

Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja starrer Waltair Veeraya to release on Netflix on February 27, 2023

One of the first big releases of 2023 was Waltair Veerayya, starring two superstars, Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja. The massy action-drama is written and directed by Bobby Kolli, with Shruti Haasan and Catherine Tresa as the leading ladies. Following the theatrical release, it is gearing up for digital release. The film will premiere on Netflix on February 27, 2023.

The announcement was made on Tuesday. Netflix India South Twitter handle shared the poster of Chiranjeevi with a caption that read, “In front there is Mega Force festival! Waltair Veerayya is coming to Netflix on 27th Feb and we can’t keep calm.”

At the launch event last month, Chiranjeevi said, “I was impressed with the story in the first hearing itself and immediately said Okay giving a handshake. I did not give Bobby a chance because he is my fan. He impressed me thoroughly with the story. He excelled as a storyteller, writer, screenplay writer, and director. He lived up to my expectations. I became a fan of Bobby and I am proud of him. Mythri Movie makers are legendary producers on par with Rama Naidu, Allu Aravind, Aswini Dutt, and KS Ramarao. They produced the film uncompromisingly and are releasing two films same time without fear and trusting content. I wish both films will be successful”.

Produced by Naveen Yerneni, and Y Ravi Shankar and co-produced by G K Mohan, under the banner, Mythri Movie Makers, the film opened in theatres on January 13. The Telugu original and the dubbed Hindi version will be arriving on the same day, with the same title. The film was released by Grandmaster and B4U in Hindi.

On the work front, Chiranjeevi will have a cameo in Rajinikanth starrer Jailer. The film is helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar.

Joyland, previously banned by Pakistan, to release in India on March 10

The much-talked-about Pakistani movie Joyland, which spoke of gender identity, is finally getting an India release. The film, which was highly criticized in Pakistan by certain sections and even banned for a period of time, will be hitting Indian theatres on March 10, 2023.

The release dates of the movie were shared on the film’s official Instagram page. “We’re so excited to share Joyland with audiences all around the world! Catch Joyland in theatres in Spain, the UK, Switzerland, India, BeNeLux and Eastern Europe,” the caption read on the post.

Starring Ali Junejo, Rasti Farooq, Alina Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Sohail Sameer, Salman Peerzada, and Sania Saeed, Joyland is a daring, soul-searching film that delves deep into the challenging complexities of desire and gender identity through the lens of the Rana Family.

Joyland was sent as Pakistan’s official entry for Best International Feature Film for Oscars 2023. It was also the first film from the country to be selected for the Cannes Film Festival. It won the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard section.

Written and directed by Saim Sadiq, it is produced by Apoorva Guru Charan, Sarmad Sultan Khoosat, Sabiha Sumar, and Lauren Mann.
