Khushbu Sundar recalls being sexually abused by father at the age of 8; says, “I had the courage to speak against him when I was 15”

Khushbu Sundar recalls being sexually abused by father at the age of 8; says, “I had the courage to speak against him when I was 15”

In an interview with Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Khushbu Sundar said, “I think when a child is abused, it scars the child for life and it’s not about a girl or a boy. My mother has been through the most abusive marriage. A man who probably thought it was his birthright to beat up his wife, beat up his children, and sexually abuse his only daughter. When my abuse started I was just 8 years old and I had the courage to speak against him when I was 15.”

She continued, “One fear that stayed with me was my mom may not believe me because I have seen her in that environment where there was ‘kuch bhi hojaye mera pati devata hai (no matter what happens, my husband is my God)’ mindset. But at 15 I thought that it was enough and I started revolting against him. I was not even 16 and he left us with whatever we had and we didn’t know where the next meal will come from.”

Khushbu Sundar is also quite active on social media and often expresses her opinion on the platform. After her achievement of joining the NCW last week, the actress turned politician expressed her gratitude on Twitter saying, “I thank our H’ble PM @narendramodi ji and the government of India for entrusting me with such a huge responsibility. I shall strive hard to protect, preserve & nourish Nari Shakthi which is growing leaps & bounds under your leadership. Looking forward eagerly. #JaiHind @NCWIndia”.

Ranbir Kapoor says he got emotional after seeing his father Rishi Kapoor in The Romantics: ‘The next day he was admitted to the hospital’

Rishi Kapoor did his last interview for Netflix’s The Romantics, a docu-series celebrating filmmaker Yash Chopra, YRF’s legacy and its impact on Indian pop culture over the last 50 years! He had closely collaborated with Yash Chopra and then Aditya Chopra in cult hits like Kabhi Kabhie, Chandni, Jab Tak Hai Jaan (in which he was paired with his wife Neetu Kapoor), Fanaa, Hum Tum, etc. It marked his last on-screen camera interview after which he was admitted to the hospital and within a month’s time, he had passed away fighting the battle of leukemia.

During a group interaction on Sunday, which Bollywood Hungama was a part of, Ranbir Kaoor said that he misses his father every day. The Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar star said, “I miss him a lot. I miss him every day. Especially now, I have seen The Romantics and hearing him talk I felt really emotional. I remember that day when he was shooting for the show – the next day, he was admitted to the hospital and we lost him in a month’s time. Losing a parent is a very big deal in anyone’s life. I think of him every day. I am also blessed with a daughter (Raha Kapoor). I feel like somewhere he would have been very happy for this moment in my life. He is with me every day. My phone’s wallpaper still has him (Rishi Kapoor’s photo).”

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar releases in theatres on March 8, 2023. Helmed by Luv Ranjan, the film also stars Shraddha Kapoor. He also has Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal set for August 2023 release.

AR Rahman asks for better safety standards after his son AR Ameen escapes major accident by a ‘few inches’ as chandeliers fall on set

AR Rahman asks for better safety standards after his son AR Ameen escapes major accident by a 'few inches' as chandeliers fall on set

AR Ameen wrote, “I am thankful to the Almighty, my parents, family, well-wishers, and my spiritual teacher that I am safe and alive today. Just three nights ago, I was shooting for a song and I trusted the team to have taken care of the engineering and safety, while I was focusing on performing in front of the camera. The whole truss and chandeliers that were suspended from a crane came crashing down while I was right in the middle of the spot. If it were a few inches here and there, a few seconds earlier or later, the whole rig would have fallen on our heads. My team and I are shell-shocked and unable to recover from the trauma.”

AR Rahman issued a statement and asked for better safety on the sets. “A few days back my son AR Ameen and his styling team escaped a potentially fatal disaster. Miraculously Alhamdulillah (by the Grace of God) there were no injuries after the accident at Film City, Mumbai. As we grow our industry, we need to have a movement towards world class safety standards on Indian sets and locations. We are all quite shaken and are awaiting the results of the investigation into the incident by the insurance company as well as the production company Goodfellas Studios,” read AR Rahman’s statement, as reported by Times of India.

AR Ameen made his debut as a playback singer in O Kadhal Kanmani, a 2015 Tamil movie. He has sung in various languages just like his father. He last crooned ‘Sooravalli Ponnu’.
