A couple of days ago, Bollywood woke up to the shocking news of the demise of one of Bollywood’s most popular director-actor. We had earlier reported that Satish Kaushik passed away on Wednesday in Gurugram after suffering a cardiac arrest. Among them, was his manager Santosh Rai who reminisced about the last words of Satish Kaushik, who was concerned for his daughter Vanshika and wife Shashi.

In an interview with Times of India, Santosh Rai opened up about what happened on that day and how he started to complain of breathlessness at about 12am in the morning. In the same breath, he also remembered what Satish had to say while being admitted to the hospital. He had said, ‘Santosh, please save me, I don’t want to die. I want to live for Vanshika. Mujhe lagta hai main nahi bachunga. Shashi aur Vanshika ka khayyal rakhna. (I don’t think I will survive. Take care of Vanshika and Shashi).’

Santosh Rai further went on to add how he called Anupam ji and Boney Kapoor ji on the same night at around 2:30am. He added, “I called Satishji’s brothers’ kids in Mumbai and told them everything. Their families reached Satish ji’s residence by 2:30 am. Apparently, they informed Satish ji’s wife. Also, I called Anupam Kher ji. Satish ji used to tell me if anything happens or anything is required for him, I should first call Anupam ji and Anil Kapoor ji. My call to Anupam ji went unanswered. Obviously, he must have been fast asleep. So, I informed his work-person and told him to inform Anupam ji anyhow. And, Anupam ji soon called back. Anupam ji and Boney Kapoor ji rushed to Satish ji’s residence and they were there in just few minutes. They stayed on till the next day. Both Anupam and Boney were very, very close to Satish ji.”

Readers would recall that Anupam Kher was the one who broke the news on social media by sharing a heartfelt note on Satish Kaushik’s sudden demise.

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega in talks to star in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2

Beetlejuice 2, the much long-awaited sequel to classic horror that has long been in the works at Warner Bros, is eyeing Wednesday star Jenna Ortega to play Lydia’s daughter. According to Variety, Ortega is in talks to play the daughter of Lydia Deetz, portrayed by Winona Ryder in the original film. This marks her second time working with Burton, who was an executive producer on Wednesday and directed four of its eight episodes.

Michael Keaton is also set to reprise his role as the title character in the sequel that has been in the works at Warner Bros. for some time before Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B officially boarded it in February 2022. Talks for the sequel surfaced in 2013 when Keaton confirmed that he and Burton were discussing a sequel.

In 2014, Burton shared that he missed the titular character, saying, “There’s only one Beetlejuice, and that’s Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever… I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever.”

Beetlejuice is a 1988 classic horror-comedy from director Tim Burton in which “the spirits of a deceased couple are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home, hiring a malicious spirit of the same name to drive them out. Michael Keaton played the title role in the original, with Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara, Winona Ryder and more rounding out the cast.”

The 1988 film was a critical and commercial success and won the Academy Award for Best Makeup for Best Makeup, while securing two BAFTA Award nominations and various other accolades.

Nikkhil Advani REVEALS that there was no backlash from the Norway government over Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway: “Norwegian High Commission asked me to shoot in Norway. He said that they believe in freedom of expression”

The trailer of Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway was unveiled a few weeks ago and ever since it has become a talking point. It is inspired by the real-life story of Sagarika Chakraborty whose children were taken away by the government of Norway citing that she’s not taking care of them appropriately. How she waged a legal war against the unfair system forms the crux of the film. Rani Mukerji plays the lead character in this Ashima Chibber-directed film.

Nikkhil Advani REVEALS that there was no backlash from the Norway government over Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway: “Norwegian High Commission asked me to shoot in Norway. He said that they believe in freedom of expression”

Interestingly, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway has been shot in Estonia and not Norway. An event was held by the makers on Friday, March 10, where Karan Johar had a conversation with Rani Mukerji and producer Nikkhil Advani. Karan asked Nikkhil whether there was a backlash from the government of Norway after the film was announced or after the film’s trailer was unveiled. Nikkhil Advani surprised everyone by replying that the Norwegian government hasn’t slammed or reacted in any way. He also added that the government of Norway had even invited him to shoot Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway in their country despite the title making it amply clear that it doesn’t show Norway in a good light.

Nikkhil Advani said, “There was no backlash. We had pre-empted or assumed that Norway would not want us to shoot a film like this. It was also lockdown time. We were supposed to shoot in March 2021 but the film got pushed to August. We finally decided to shoot in Estonia.”

Nikkhil continued, “We had put out a press note that our film Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway is all set to be shot in Estonia. Everything was set until one day, we got a call from the Norwegian High Commission. The official asked me, ‘Why are you not shooting the film in Norway?’ They added, ‘We believe in freedom of expression. You should come over here and shoot your film’!”

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Box Office: Film is steady on Friday, all eyes on good growth over the weekend

After collecting Rs. 10.34 crores on Thursday, it was a steady Friday for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar as Rs. 10.52 crores came in. This is on expected lines as well since there is always a 10% day by day drop that happens, but then since it was Friday, the collections went up in the evening and night shows due to weekend kick-start factor. So in a way, this all balances out and the film managed to maintain double digit numbers.

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Box Office: Film is steady on Friday, all eyes on good growth over the weekend

This was the bare minimum requirement as well for the film since it’s looking at a long run here and hence needed some kind of a stage and platform to consolidate and excel. Had this been a regular rom-com then these numbers, which are leading to a Rs. 100 cross’s lifetime at least, would have been good enough already. However, this Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer is a much bigger film and the budget in fact also shows on screen. Moreover, very importantly it’s quite entertaining as well and hence deserves to find a much larger audience. Hence, the game has to be much bigger than Rs. 100 crores and this is what makes jumps over Saturday and Sunday quite important.

So far, the film has collected Rs. 36.59 crores in its first three days and at least Rs. 32-35 crores more should come in between today and tomorrow. Since there is no competition whatsoever around it, the ground has been laid out for this Luv Ranjan film to excel and it would be all about the merits coming into play from here on to attract enhanced audience footfalls.

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources

Anushka Sharma opens up on being an actor-mother; says, “I don’t want to do movies just to stay in the game”

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma reflected on the preceding year in a recent interview with a magazine, claiming that she had little time for anything other than filming Chakda Xpress, her first production following the birth of her daughter Vamika. The star talked about balancing her new role as a new mother with her comeback movie.

Anushka Sharma opens up on being an actor-mother; says, “I don’t want to do movies just to stay in the game”

Anushka told Grazia India, “The entire last year went into filming Chakda. I’d finish shooting and would have only that much time to spend time with my daughter, feed her dinner, and follow her night-time routine, and go to bed early soon after her. I don’t think I found time to do anything else. I’m okay to do more movies but only if it’s worth taking my time out and if it makes sense. I don’t want to do movies just to stay in the game – I’m very clear about that. It would have to be a film like Chakda.”

Anushka discussed the fact that she does everything for Vamika and how her daughter is developing into a secure individual as a result. She said, “It has internally made me a far more self-assured individual – I feel I’m way more confident as a person. It’s a very real thing, caring for another human – and putting the child first in everything. I want to mention this – that it’s so important to have this connect with your child. I’m so hands on and I do everything for her, and I enjoy doing it, so the bond is very special. I feel that she’s turning into a secure individual, and I’m happy about that.”

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli tied knot in 2017 after dating for few years. In 2021, the couple embraced parenthood and welcomed their daughter Vamika.

Coming to film front, Anushka was last seen in a lead role in Zero starring alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. She also had a cameo in a recent film Qala. As mentioned, she is currently handling her production house Clean Slate Filmz along with her brother Karnesh Sharma and gearing up for the release of Chakda Xpress, which interestingly portrays her role as a cricketer. The film is expected to be a biopic on the life of renowned Indian female cricketer Jhulan Goswami.
