BTS’ Jimin drops cinematic ‘Set Me Free Pt. 2’ music video depicting the will to overcome pain

Following a series of concept photos and teasers, Jimin of pop icons BTS unveiled his pre-release track “Set Me Free Pt.2” today, ahead of his first official solo album FACE set to release on March 24. The official music video of “Set Me Free Pt.2” was unveiled on Friday and it is a masterpiece.

BTS' Jimin drops cinematic 'Set Me Free Pt. 2' music video depicting the will to overcome pain

Set Me Free Pt.2” is a hip-hop track that portrays Jimin’s resolution to free himself by overcoming the pain, sorrow, and emptiness hidden deep inside him. Intense brass and drum lines sonically convey the track’s truthful message, while the choir and orchestra sound strengthen its grand atmosphere. As the repeated lyrics “Set me free,” and “finally free” suggest, the core message of ‘freedom’ pierces through the song.

The accompanying music video visually accentuates the track’s ambiance through explosive yet transcendentally controlled choreography by Jimin with a number of dancers in a circular space suggestive of a Panopticon. In one part, Jimin has German poem by Rainer Maria Rilke written on his bare body which translates to “I live my life in ever-widening circles / that stretch themselves out over all the things. / I won’t, perhaps, complete the last one / but I intend on trying.”

The cinematic uses of camera movements, angles, and lighting reveal the strong will to overcome the repeated struggles and hurt, and finally liberate himself.

Set to be released on March 24, FACE delves into Jimin’s story of fronting his true self and making a new leap forward as an artist.

Lawrence Bishnoi threatens Salman Khan; asks him to ‘apologize’ to his community

Readers would recall the 1990s blackbuck case where allegedly Salman Khan along with a few cast members of Hum Saath Saath Hain was accused of killing the rare species. Soon after the case, Khan received several threatening notes and was even attacked, which was later reportedly said to be the work of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The gangster, who is currently in jail for allegedly murdering Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala, is said to have threatened the actor and has asked Khan to apologize to his community.

Lawrence Bishnoi threatens Salman Khan; asks him to ‘apologize’ to his community

Claiming that the blackbuck is expected to be an auspicious species of his community, Lawrence Bishnoi has reportedly maintained that his entire community has been furious with Salman Khan. In a report shared by ABP News, Bishnoi was quoted saying, “There is anger in our society for Salman Khan. He humiliated my society. A case was filed against him but he did not apologise. If he does not tender an apology, be ready to face the consequences. I will not depend on anyone else.” He went on to add that he has been harboring the feeling of hatred ever since childhood. Bishnoi continued, “Will break his ego sooner or later. He should come to our deity’s temple and apologise. If our society forgives, then I will not say anything.”

While several reports in the past have spoken about Bishnoi not only threatening but also attacking Salman Khan, in the recent years, the threats resurfaced after the murder of Sidhu Moosewala. In fact, Salim Khan too is reportedly said to have been threatened when he went for his usual morning jog in Mumbai, followed by which Salman Khan applied for weapons license. As of now, the actor is said to have been granted the same.

Ishaan Khatter starrer Pippa may get OTT release

It’s been three months since Ishaan Khatter starrer Pippa was deferred from its theatrical release. The film was supposed to release on December 2, 2022. However, it seems like now the makers are prepping for a direct-to-digital premiere for the movie.

Ishaan Khatter starrer Pippa may get OTT release

As per a report in Mid-Day, this development of opting for an OTT release has happened due to “Ronnie Screwvala’s legal battle with four national multiplex chains for anti-competitive collusion, with respect to the undue imposition of Virtual Print Fee (VPF).” Ronnie Screwvala, who is producing the movie with Siddharth Roy Kapur, has reportedly petitioned the Competition Commission of India (CCI) “against multiplexes making producers and distributors pay Rs 20,000 for every film screened at every property as VPF, calling it a draconian discriminatory charge that multiplex chains are forcibly imposing.” Back then, CCI had noted the producer couldn’t prove his allegations at the time, the dealings between the producer and the multiplex chains haven’t gone down well. However, the makers are very content with the project has turned out and are planning for a digital release soon.

Based on ‘The Burning Chaffees’ written by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta and scored by Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, Pippa is a heroic tank battle film that underscores the bravery of Brigadier Mehta, a veteran of the 45th Cavalry tank squadron, who, along with his siblings, fought on the eastern front during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, which led to the liberation of India’s neighbour Bangladesh. At the centre of the film is the amphibious war tank involved in the victory, affectionately christened “Pippa”, which like an empty ghee da dabba smoothly floats on water.

Produced by RSVP and Roy Kapur Films, Pippa stars Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan.

On bringing Bomman and Bellies’ story to life and being recognised worldwide, Kartiki Gonsalves mentioned, “It is absolutely incredible to have an Indian Indigenous documentary on the sacred bond between man and nature on our very own Asian Elephants to be recognised around the world. I still remember when I showed them the final film in a private viewing in October of 2022. There is no greater feeling in the world than to present to Bomman and Bellie everything I have worked on over the last five years to bring their story to the world and to watch them smile and laugh and cry while watching it. That I must admit is the most beautiful feeling in the world. I didn’t just make a documentary on them, they are an integral part of my life along with Sanjana, Raghu and Ammu. It was also a very special moment when I took my parents to their house. We are all family. I am extremely grateful to Netflix and Sikhya Entertainment’s excellent team for believing in the power of this very unique family story. It is truly an honour to be the first-ever Indian director to receive a prestigious Academy Award. With this win, I hope to encourage more young women and men to go out and tell their unique stories however small they might be and to also work on more stories to help connect humans to nature and to understand it better.”

Guneet Monga, on Bomman and Bellie being felicitated, mentioned, “The days following the ceremony have been so incredibly gratifying. The immense love the film is receiving worldwide and the incredible appreciation of people from across the globe has been overwhelming. This opens up a whole new audience for the documentary and I’m happy that the intent and message of our film will further reach millions. Also the impact the film has had and the love for the amazing duo of Bomman and Bellie is for me personally as a filmmaker the biggest achievement of all. The impact this news has had and that they’re being recognised, and felicitated for their incredible story, and their hard work makes me really emotional and happy. This was always our intent in making this humble documentary, to nurture the human relationship with the environment, and two incredible humans who selflessly set an example of how we all can Co-exist.”
