Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan to release on August 25

Ever since the announcement the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan directed by Atlee has been making headlines. After capturing the audiences’ interest with its novel casting comprising of Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathy in addition to SRK, the buzz surrounding the film has been gradually building. As the film’s release draws near, a number of reports have surfaced stating that Jawan will not be releasing on its scheduled day and date of June 2. In fact, a number of these reports have claimed that the film will not be complete for its release on that date. Now, Bollywood Hungama has learnt that the film will, in fact, be delayed, and will not hit screens only on June 29 as reported, instead the film will now hot screens on August 25.

In an earlier report, Bollywood Hungama had informed you that the film would most likely be postponed since there has been no intimation from Red Chillies Entertainment as to when the promotions will start. If that was not enough, neither the teaser nor trailer of the film have yet been released which has added fuel to the already raging fire. Now, confirming the same a well placed industry source informed Bollywood Hungama, “Jawan is most definitely not releasing on June 2 or 29. The film will instead be released on August 25”. Explaining why the source continues, “The delay was on the account of VFX. Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee were very clear that they wanted a fine-tuned world-class product for the audience”.

Interestingly, certain reports claim that this postponement in release date was to maximise its business capabilities thanks to the Bakri Eid festivities and an extended four-day weekend. But with the August release these reports have proved to be rather untrue.

Backstreet Boys give electrifying performance to 12,000 fans in Mumbai; Shraddha Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Diana Penty and more attend the concert

The Summer of 2023 will remain forever etched in the hearts of Mumbaikars as Backstreet Boys took over the city of Mumbai giving fans their most memorable night of the year! The band’s iconic DNA World Tour’s advent to India kick-started with a mammoth attendance of around twelve thousand fans and a completely sold-out show brimming to its full capacity at the Jio World Gardens, taking the entertainment capital by storm!

Celebrating 30 glorious years of a band that has continued to stay relevant across age groups of music lovers, with a growing fan base and an evergreen legacy that never goes out of style, the Backstreet Boys: DNA World Tour came on the back of the boy band favourite’s tenth studio album ‘DNA,’ and has continued to live up to its reputation of being a production enigma.

The ‘larger than life’ performance spanning over 2 hours and 33 songs at the Jio World Garden had ‘Everybody’ moving, grooving and humming along to their all-time favourites. Spotted cheering amongst the crowds were Shraddha Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Benny Dayal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Natasha Dalal, Maniesh Paul, Karishma Mehta, Malaika Arora, Dhvani Bhanushali, Rohan Joshi, Prakriti and Sukriti Kakar, Meezan Jafri to name a few.

The stage was set up in the middle of the arena, allowing everyone the best view from all angles with intricate visuals. As the lights went out and the opening notes of the hit song ‘I Wanna Be With You’ began followed by ‘The Call’, the crowd erupted into a unanimous scream and cheer, setting the tone for the night. Band members Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough and Kevin Richardson with their dreamy personas and synchronised steps had fans spellbound right from the start until the very end, seamlessly transitioning from one hit to the next, never missing a beat with their electrifying dance moves and chemistry as a group was nothing short of spectacular!

The arsenal of mega-watt hits such as ‘I Want It That Way’, ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’ and ‘As Long As You Love Me’, along with the latest hits from their recent album ‘DNA’ including ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’, ‘Chances’ and ‘No Place’ was sung unanimously by the entire crowd! The Backstreet Boys threw all they had at Mumbai showering the crowds with incredible love and as a tribute to India’s 30-year-old fan love, they infused the city into their famed single calling it ‘I Want It Mumbai’s Way’.

The boys donned a variety of outfits, from sleek leather jackets to glittering sequined suits to all-whites as each costume change was accompanied by a different set design, making the concert feel like a series of mini shows within one massive production. The show concluded with an explosive performance of the historic ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ followed by ‘Larger Than Life’, complete with pyrotechnics and confetti cannons.

As the evening drew to a close, the band took a bow and thanked the amazing Indian fans for their tremendous support over the years. Mumbai erupted into a final round of cheers and applause, reluctant to let go off this iconic night! Designed to be an unforgettable experience for fans, it delivered on that promise in spades. The next and the final stop is the national capital, Delhi-NCR and we already know that the excitement is soaring!

Alia Bhatt takes a tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art with Prabal Gurung at MET Gala 2033, watch video

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt made her first appearance at the MET Gala 2023 on May 1. The actress wore a Prabal Gurung creation for the event, which was an ode to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. The actress walked the carpet in full confidence and was joined by Gurung at every step of the way.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art released an inside video where celebrities were seen looking at the Karl Lagerfeld exhibit. Alia Bhatt was seen along with designer Prabal Gurung, Penelope Cruz, Sydney Sweeney, Kristen Stewart, Emily Ratajkowski, Emily Blunt, Gisele Bundchen and Usher in the video. The Met captioned the post as, “Art imitating life or life imitating art? Did you know: During the Met Gala, guests are invited to explore the Costume Institute exhibition — this year that’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” on view through July 15. For the event, Prabal Gurung was Alia’s choice for the iconic moment on the stairs of the Metropolitan Art Museum in New York. Supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal outfit in served as an inspiration for Alia’s appearance. The Prabal Gurung sleeveless dress featured a fitted bodice, a full skirt, and a total of one lakh white pearls. She added shine with pointed pearl and stone earrings and a white glove as accessories. Alia chose a half-up, half-down hairstyle with a centre part and bronze-toned makeup with rosy accents on her cheeks and a nude lip as a finishing touch. Alia nailed the high notes with this one, keeping things understated and safe while yet looking utterly stunning.

“We’ve talked about a Met moment for a long time. I have invited her before, but she’s always been wise enough to say let’s wait. This time, however, she felt it was the right moment, so she said yes, and off we went to our wildest imaginations…,” Prabal Gurung captioned his Instagram post.

He added, “It was my dearest friend Karan Johar’s 40th birthday in Mumbai, where I first met Alia. ⁠I had heard rave reviews about her through him and my brother Pravesh, who was assisting Karan in her debut film. I was immediately taken by her when I met her. A petite ingénue whose simmering fire within her was palpable to all of us. One film after another, she has surpassed anyone’s expectations and thrilled us with her creative genius. She’s a powerhouse performer. To me, she is one of the finest actors we have right now globally, but above all, she’s a friend, a good friend, and a loyal one; that’s what makes her extremely special.”

On the professional front, the year 2022 was a landmark year for her with Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR and Brahmastra becoming the biggest blockbusters and the acclaimed Darlings, which was her maiden production venture.

Moving forward, Alia Bhatt has an exciting year ahead with the release of Netflix’s Heart of Stone with Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. She also has Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.

Anil Kapoor reviews Ponniyin Selvan 2; pens a heartfelt note appreciating Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus

Ponniyin Selvan, based on the novel of Kalki Krishnamurthy, has been enthralling audiences in theatres with its second part which was released last week, on April 28. Anil Kapoor, who had an opportunity to catch PS 2 with the filmmaker Mani Ratnam, reviewed it and was all praises for the magnum opus. Starring Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles, the second part is a continuation of the instalment which was released in September 2022 and is set against the backdrop of the Chola Empire.

Anil Kapoor took to Twitter to share a few photographs featuring him as he interacted with director Mani Ratnam and his actress-wife Suhasini. Talking about the film, Anil posted, “Watching #ManiRatnam’s #PS2 was an exhilarating experience! The gripping drama, enchanting music and epic scale had me hooked from the very start! A special shoutout to #Chiyan who is fantastic, #aishwaryaraibachchan is brilliant in a difficult role…” He continued, “@arrahman whose music lifts the film to an epic level, my friend #RaviVarman is cinematography is the highlight of the film and @ekalakhani who has killed it with the costumes.”

Ponniyin Selvan aka PS 2 also stars Sobhita Dhulipala as the wife of Jayam Ravi aka Ponniyin Selvan with Trisha Krishnan and Chiyaan Vikram playing the latter’s siblings. The film features Karthi as Vanthiyathevan along with Aishwarya Lekshmi in the role of Poonguzhali. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is seen in a dual role in the film.

Bhumi Pednekar opens up about facing criticism in the film industry; says, “I didn’t look like the conventionally beautiful leading ladies”

Bhumi Pednekar recently expressed her appreciation for Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s bold Pepsi advertisement on her social media account. The ad challenged societal norms and criticized those who judge women for their choices regarding marriage and clothing. Bhumi shared her own experiences in the film industry, where she faced constant criticism and scepticism about her ability to succeed as a leading actress. She also revealed the negative statements that were often told to her, such as her debut film being her last and not fitting the mould of a conventional leading lady.
