Sara Ali Khan says she made her connections in the film industry independently: “I have never felt the pressure to follow through with my father’s friends or my mother’s friends”

Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan recently made her Cannes Film Festival debut. At the French Riviera, the actress talked about making connections in the industry independently instead of using her father Saif Ali Khan and mother Amrita Singh’s help.

In an interview with Film Companion, Sara Ali Khan said that her mother rarely had friends in the industry. “Every relationship I have established in the film fraternity has been a very independent equation, which is very nice because I have never felt the pressure to follow through with my father’s friends or my mother’s friends,” Sara said.

She added, “She (Amrita) says, ‘Everyone has their own journey, and you should chalk out your own and this is not for me.’”

Sara Ali Khan further talked about her parents and said, “My father is a thinker, he is a bit of a planner, he is a traveller and I have inherited that from him. Mum is happy to be on her own and not explore much. My father has the need to explore, travel, eat different kinds of food, and see the whole world. Mom is the epitome of strings, she is emotionally very strong. She sleeps with a lot of peace. I don’t think I have her peace as yet. But, both of us are emotional beings at the core. She has never pretended to be somebody that she is not.”

On the work front, Sara Ali Khan is currently promoting Zara Hatke Zara Bachke with Vicky Kaushal. Helmed by Laxman Utekar, the film is set to release on June 2, 2023.

Filmmakers Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane are at the Cannes Film Festival 2023. The filmmakers have been sharing glimpses on social media. The two of them attended the premiere of the highly anticipated Martin Scorsese-directed Killers Of The Flower Moon on Saturday evening.

Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane were dressed in all black as the former shared red carpet photos of the two of them. They also shared glimpses of Scorsese from inside the premiere as the movie received a 9-minute standing ovation. Lily Gladstone, who plays an Osage woman, earned rave reviews as she fought back tears at the screening for all the cheers that came her way.

Also starring Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons, Killers of the Flower Moon is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book.

Killers of the Flower Moon will premiere exclusively in theatres beginning Friday, October 6 before streaming globally on Apple TV+.

Following much anticipation, Killers of the Flower Moon had its world premiere at the 76^th Cannes Film Festival. Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons walked the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival alongside Martin Scorsese before the grand premiere. After the screening, the movie received a 9-minute standing ovation, which left the cast overwhelmed. Lily Gladstone, who plays an Osage woman, earned rave reviews as she fought back tears at the screening for all the cheers that came her way.

According to Variety, Scorsese said, “Thank you to the Osages. Everyone connected with the picture. My old pals Bob and Leo, and Jesse and Lily. We shot this a couple of years ago in Oklahoma. It’s taken its time to come around but Apple did so great by us. There was lots of grass. I’m a New Yorker. I was very surprised. This was an amazing experience. We lived in that world.”

Aamir Dalvi to make his Bollywood debut in Cannes-selected film Kennedy, directed by Anurag Kashyap

Aamir Dalvi is gearing up for his much-awaited entry into Bollywood with the film Kennedy, helmed by the critically acclaimed director Anurag Kashyap. Aamir has previously impressed audiences with his roles in popular shows such as Shapath-Supercops VS Supervillains, Sanskaar Laxmi, Devanshi, Zindagi’s Bhaage Re Mann, and Aladdin. Kennedy and its noir thriller storyline explore the theme of redemption against the backdrop of the pandemic, shedding light on its impact across various walks of life.

Aamir had the opportunity to collaborate with Anurag Kashyap, who is known for granting actors the creative freedom to approach their scenes and characters. Although initially nervous, Aamir soon discovered that Anurag’s distinctive style didn’t require extensive preparation from the actors. Instead, Anurag prefers them to be present on set and allows the magic to unfold naturally.

During rehearsals, Aamir found himself unsure of what to expect as he was given no specific instructions. However, when the first shot took place, Anurag’s excitement was palpable. Subsequently, Anurag meticulously explained the intricacies of the scene and the character, equipping Aamir with a comprehensive understanding of his role. This experience taught Aamir the valuable lesson that Anurag champions actors’ creative autonomy, enabling them to present their unique interpretation of a scene and character. In Kennedy, Aamir portrays the film’s antagonist, a character also seeking redemption.

Anuradha Paudwal clarifies that her comments were against the remix of ‘Aaj Phir Tum Pe’ and not Arijit Singh

Anuradha Paudwal has been in the news for the last couple of days for heavily criticizing the trend of remixes of old songs in new Bollywood movies. In an interview with Indian Express, she specifically spoke about the remix of her song ‘Aaj Phir Tum Pe’ from Dayavan, which was remixed in Hate Story 2, and expressed the kind of negative impact it had on her.

Paudwal has now clarified that her comments were against the remix of the song and not Arijt Singh in particular, who sung the remix along with Samira Koppikar. In a statement released, the veteran singer said, “I have always preferred the original song to a remix. Many people feel the same. My comment about ‘Aaj Phir Tum Pe’ was about the remix, not the singer. Remixes should do justice to the original song. So many 90s songs are redone but they don’t do any justice to the original. We have also done tributes to music composers but they were done gracefully.”

She added, “I would urge (the) respectable media not to sensationalise statements. Isn’t there enough in the world to talk about? If they must, let them speak about the cause we have taken up of gifting sound to the underprivileged.”

Recalling her reaction to the remix of ‘Aaj Phir Tum Pe’ remix, Paudwal had said, “That had happened when someone asked me to listen to this (remix) from Dayavan. That person told me it is a super-duper hit track and sent it to me. I was in tears when I heard it. I immediately switched to YouTube and heard my original song from the film multiple times. Tab jaake mere mann mein shaanti aayi (Only then I found peace).”
