Sanjay Dutt invests in alcobev startup Cartel & Bros expanding liquor portfolio in India

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has made an investment in Cartel & Bros, an alcobev (alcoholic beverage) startup aiming to import and retail a range of liquor brands in India. The startup’s initial offering is Glenwalk, a blended Scotch whisky imported from Scotland. Future plans include introducing vodka, tequila, and single malt brands. 

Mokksh Sani, one of the five partners of the venture and promoter of liquor retail chain Living Liquidz, revealed that the company has secured a factory lease in Scotland. The aim is to price the products affordably, making them accessible to a broader base of young consumers.

Despite the challenges associated with the regulated alcobev industry, including complex regulations, state-level taxation, and price controls, the team behind Cartel & Bros remains optimistic. Sani acknowledges that while regulations exist in every business, India’s young population is willing to experiment with alcoholic beverages. This optimism is bolstered by India’s status as one of the fastest-growing alcohol markets globally.

Recent data from the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) indicates that India has surpassed France to become the UK’s largest Scotch whisky market in terms of volume. Import of Scotch whisky witnessed a significant 60% surge in 2022 compared to the previous year. 

Coming back to Dutt, speaking of his professional front, the 63-year-old actor was last seen in Shamshera, which was released in 2022. He has an interesting line-up with a bunch of projects in his kitty including multi-starrer Baap. Besides this, he will be seen playing a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming flick Jawan, helmed by Atlee Kumar. The film is slated to release on September 7.

Alia Bhatt meets The Archies gang Suhana Khan Agastya Nanda Khushi Kapoor Zoya Akhtar and the entire cast at São Paulo in Brazil see pictures

For the very first time, the cast of The Archies was introduced to the world in a live event at Netflix Tudum 2023 in Brazil. At Netflix’s annual global fan event, Tudum, held at Ibirapuera Park in São Paulo, Brazil, The Archies cast introduced the first look of the film and rocked and rolled to the song ‘Sunoh’ with an audience of over 10000 cheering for the cast. At the same event, Alia Bhatt was also in attendance as she makes her Hollywood debut with Heart Of Stone starring alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. A trailer and poster were launched at the event.

During the promotions, Alia Bhatt met The Archies gang – actors including Dot (Ethel Muggs), Agastya Nanda (Archie Andrews), Khushi Kapoor (Betty Cooper), Mihir Ahuja (Jughead Jones), Suhana Khan (Veronica Lodge), Vedang Raina (Reggie Mantle) and Yuvraj Menda (Dilton Doiley). Alia, who previously worked with Zoya Akhtar in Gully Boy, seemed elated to meet the new lot of actors at the event. Netflix India captioned the photos, “You see @aliaabhatt and The Archies gang in this picture? We see a beautiful chaand and sitaare in the frame.”

The film is set in the 1960s, and takes the audiences to the fictional hilly town of Riverdale. The Archies is a coming-of-age musical following the lives of Riverdale’s favorite set of teenagers – Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel and Dilton. Seen through the lens of the unique Anglo-Indian community, The Archies explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion.

Meanwhile, directed by the talented Tom Harper, Heart Of Stone takes viewers on a relentless journey as Rachel Stone (Gal Gadot) appears to be an inexperienced tech, on an elite MI6 unit headed up by lead agent Parker (Jamie Dornan). What her MI6 team doesn’t know is that Stone actually works for the Charter — a covert peacekeeping organization, secret even from other spies, which uses cutting-edge technology to neutralize global threats. Rachel has been trained to be the consummate professional: a phenomenal field agent who sticks to the mission, follows the numbers, and trusts no one. When a routine mission is derailed by mysterious hacker Keya Dhawan (Alia Bhatt), Rachel’s two lives collide. As she races to protect the Charter and strives to beat the odds, her humanity might just be her biggest asset.

Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer impossible love story to release in theatres on December 7 2023

This December, Maddock Films is all set to unveil another unique tale of love! The film starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, tagged as an ‘impossible love story’, will officially arrive in cinemas on the 7th of December 2023! Shahid and Kriti’s fresh pairing in the film has already seen social media go gaga, with fans looking forward to this ‘first time jodi’ setting the big screen on fire.

In a recent interview, Shahid Kapoor was asked about the film and working with Kriti Sanon in the film, responding to this Shahid said, “It’s a high concept kind of film, but also a unique, quirky, fun love story that also focuses on the issues that happen in today’s life. I really had fun working with Kriti; we got along really well. She is at the top of her game right now, and I think we both are collaborating at a good time, and I’m excited about it. It will be out this year in theatres.”

There have also been reports about the yet-untitled film that will see Kriti as a robot and Shahid as a scientist, who falls in love with the former. Dharmendra is also part of the project.
