Priyanka Chopra supported her musician husband Nick Jonas as the Jonas Brothers – Nick, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas, kicked off their latest tour, aptly titled The Tour, this past weekend in New York City. The trio had their first show at the Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

“You are a magnet @nickjonas MM and I are so lucky to have you Congratulations on the start of an incredible tour. You’re all in for a huge ride! Let’s gooooo! Great job JB team the Band, the crew. The show was seamless and awe inspiring. Round 2 tonight!,” Chopra Jonas captioned the images of her with Nick Jonas.

Even their daughter Malti Marie visited them on the big day. Nick shared a series of photos and wrote, “From sound check to the stage with my girls. Yankees night one was beyond words. Can’t wait for night two tonight. @jonasbrothers ???? @nicolasgerardin.”

Sunny Deol is overwhelmed by massive response to Gadar 2: “We need some hits to keep the film industry on its feet”

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 released in theatres on August 11, 2023. The film also stars Utkarsh Sharma as their son. While the movie has opened to mixed reviews, the audiences are enjoying the nostalgia so much so that the film has collected Rs. 83.18 crore in the first two days at the box office. And Deol is over the moon with its success as the movie is all set to surpass Rs. 100 crore mark when Sunday collections come in.

Following the release of the movie, Sunny Deol spoke with Times Now about the film’s massive response to the film and its success at the box office. He said, “I am indeed very happy. When we did the second part of Gadar, we never knew it would be so loved by the audience. Two whole generations have gone by since we did the first Gadar. And still, people are as excited as they were the first time. I am amazed and very very happy. We need some hits to keep the film industry on its feet.”

When asked about the longevity in the industry, Sunny said, “I don’t know! I don’t think about how old I am. I’ve never done that. I’ve always done my work to the best of my abilities regardless of my age.”

Helmed by director-producer Anil Sharma, and produced by Zee Studios, the movie sees Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma reprise their roles as Tara Singh, Sakeena and Jeete. The film is about the next challenge the family faces from across the border.

We have like-minded thoughts even when I go out somewhere and someone tells me, we have the same handbag I saw on your post, someone would say we have the same trousers, we have the same kurta and it’s so nice to feel like one big happy family.”

On the work front, Shraddha Kapoor will be next seen in Stree 2, wherein she will be reprising her much-loved character from Stree.

Konkona Sen Sharma says her mother Aparna Sen didn’t let her watch Ramayan, Mahabharat in her formative years: “She said that the first exposure to these epics should not be someone else’s imagination”

Actor-director Konkona Sen Sharma, who recently directed the short film The Mirror in the anthology Lust Stories 2, was really appreciated for her work. While OTT has given a platform to many, the filmmaker-actress says that the content creators on the digital platforms are chasing stars.

In a chat with Film Companion, Konkona said, “More than talent, people who are putting in money, want stars. I can understand they are putting in money and they want to cover the bases, many stars are talented and perhaps some aren’t that much. Even for OTT, there is a move towards stars.”

Konkana agreed that now even the star system is taking place in the OTT space and added, “There is a lot of pressure to take stars. From my own part I can say, as an actor and also as a director, there is a lot of pressure to cast big stars.” The actress said that being a star won’t help on the platform if you don’t have the talent.

In the same conversation, she said that in her formative years, her mother Aparna Sen kept her away from watching anything mainstream from Hindi and Bengali cinemas. She wasn’t allowed to watch shows like The Bold and the Beautiful or Santa Barbara or Indian epics like Ramayan and Mahabharat. “Of course, a few slipped by, and I watched a few here and there, like Mr India and Masoom. Moreover, I wasn’t allowed to watch American soap operas like The Bold and the Beautiful or Santa Barbara, either.”

But, there was a reason to it. “I wasn’t allowed to watch Ramayan and Mahabharat either. She insisted that I read the epics first (before delving into the serialised versions). She said that the first exposure to these epics should not be someone else’s imagination; it should be a product of your own imagination. As a substitute, we explored a lot of global and regional cinema. Even when it came to books, during a phase of my childhood when I was exclusively reading Indian literature, she eventually stopped me and asked me to move on. And I was an obedient child,” Konkona added.

Meanwhile, Konkona Sen Sharma directed Lust Stories 2’s short film The Mirror which arrived on Netflix. On the other hand, her mother Aparna Sen’s recent directorial venture, The Rapist, which was headlined by her, premiered at the 26th Busan International Film Festival.

Pankaj Tripathi says his father isn’t too proud of his achievements: “He does not even know what and how I do in cinema”

Over the years, Pankaj Tripathi has garnered critical acclaim in the film industry through his performances. From his comic roles to emotional performances, he has come a long way. However, he says that his father isn’t fully aware of what he does or knows about his achievements. The OMG 2 actor recently said that even his mother doesn’t care much about his acting.

In an interview with Mashable, Tripathi revealed that his father visited Mumbai once for the housewarming ceremony of his first house. He said, “He is not attached to beautiful houses.”

He added, “He is not too proud of my achievements. My father does not even know what and how I do in cinema. To date, he has not seen how a movie theatre looks from the inside. He sees my work if someone shows him on their computer or on the television, which was recently installed at my house.”

Furthermore, talking about his mother, he added, “My mother watches me on TV and says ‘Call him and tell he has become very thin, he is not eating and sleeping properly.’ She does not focus on my acting.”

Meanwhile, Pankaj Tripathi is currently starring in OMG 2 alongside Akshay Kumar and Yami Gautam. It released on August 11, 2023. The film earned Rs. 10.26 crores on the opening day.

OMG 2 Box Office Estimate Day 2: Jumps by 47 percent on Sunday; collects Rs. 14.75 crores

The Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi film, OMG 2, has found appreciation from the audience as the film has shown a big jump in collections on Saturday. According to early estimates, OMG 2 has collected in the range of Rs. 14.25 to 15.25 crores, taking the two-day total collection to Rs. 25 crores. The platform is set for the film to explode on Sunday and hit an opening weekend of Rs. 40 crores.

While the business on opening day was driven by multiplexes, the second-day trend has been encouraging as even the non-national chains came on board in a big way for OMG 2. In fact, the film even faced capacity issues in a lot of places, and there will be a big spillover of audiences for the film over the coming week. It’s headed to become a clean hit and also a comeback for Akshay Kumar after 5 back-to-back flops.

It’s also a respite for the Hindi Film Industry to see another non-event film succeed after Satyaprem Ki Katha and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film is doing well despite an Adult Only Certificate and clash with Gadar 2, and with positive talk, it may be headed to enter the Rs. 100 crore club at the domestic box office.

OMG 2 is a sequel to Oh My God (2012) and it is reaping results similar to the original film, which has over the years become a cult.
