Jawan Advance Booking Report: Shah Rukh Khan starrer sells 1,50,000 tickets for Day 1 as of 9 am

The Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan has been in the news ever since it was announced. The fusion of Bollywood’s iconic superstar with the massy south filmmaker Atlee Kumar was enough to generate excitement among the fans of both. Later on, the film’s prevue added onto the anticipation. But the release of the film’s trailer yesterday has ensured that nothing can stop Jawan at the box office, as far as the film’s opening is concerned.

As per reports, the film looks set to open to a thunderous start. In fact, the film had sold as many as 1,50,000 tickets in the two biggest national multiplex chains in India for the first day alone until 9 am today. As per the update Jawan has seen sales of 125,000 tickets across PVR + INOX and a further 25,000 tickets being sold across Cinepolis theatres. Interestingly, these sales are just for the film’s opening day, Thursday September 7.

As for the movie, produced by SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment, Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dogra, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya and Deepika Padukone in a cameo. Currently, enjoying incredible trending Jawan has become one of the most anticipated releases of the year.

Kalki Koechlin opens up about her amicable relationship with ex-husband Anurag Kashyap; says, “I definitely took a lot of therapy and now it’s been seven-eight years”

In her recent interview, actress Kalki Koechlin candidly discussed her current relationship with her ex-husband and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who happens to be presenting her latest film, Goldfish. Kalki revealed that although the years following their divorce were challenging, they have now forged a strong and supportive friendship.

Reflecting on the journey from divorce to friendship, Kalki told Puja Talwar in an interview, “It takes time. There is no denying that in the first few years after our divorce, we couldn’t be the kind of friends that we are today. We needed that separate time because it hurts to know about the other person’s relationship and things like that. So, of course, we took that time, I definitely took a lot of therapy and now it’s been seven-eight years… It’s been a long, long time so it’s fine, it’s great and we get along, as friends.”

Kalki and Anurag tied the knot in 2011 but decided to part ways in 2015. Their professional collaborations in the Indian film industry have also contributed to their ongoing connection. Kalki made her Bollywood acting debut in Anurag’s 2009 romantic dark comedy Dev D, where she played a pivotal role opposite Abhay Deol. Subsequently, she collaborated with Anurag on his 2010 thriller That Girl In Yellow Boots and the 2019 Netflix India Original crime thriller Sacred Games Season 2. In addition to her evolving relationship with Anurag, Kalki has embraced motherhood. In 2020, she welcomed her daughter, Sappho, with her partner Guy Hershberg.

Talking about Goldfish, the movie marked the return of Kalki Koechlin to the theatres after four years and was released on September 1, 2023. Anurag Kashyap presented this stirring drama which was directed by Pushan Kripalani and produced by Amit Saxena.

I would sleep in my car, while being driven between the two sets. Hectic, but totally worth it.”

EXCLUSIVE: Ayushmann Khurrana on Dream Girl 2: “Joh Gadar 2 ki audience hain, woh hi iski audience hai. Aap logic nahi laga sakte ismein”

Dream Girl 2 is a family entertainer starring Ayushmann in the characters of Karam and Pooja. With the opening first day collection of Rs. 10.69 crores, the film has given Ayushmann the biggest opening of his career. The film has collected Rs. 67 crores in the domestic market. The actor is quite elated about it. However, the actor also addresses that it is not for those who watch movies with a magnifying glass.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ayushmann Khurrana said, “Ek baat mere mann mein clear thi ki yeh film unn logon ke liye hain hi nahi joh magnifying glass leke baithe hain. Yeh clear tha. Agar woh aap dimag se nikaal de….This is for the outright massy comedy commercial single-screen small-town audience. Joh Gadar 2 ki audience hain, woh hi iski audience hai. Aap logic nahi laga sakte ismein, (This film is not for them who will be watching it with a magnifying glass. If you take that out of the mind… this film is an outright massy entertainer and has the same audience which is also watching Gadar 2, you cannot put logic in this).”

He added, “Ismein aap intricacies mein nahi ja sakte. Waise koi message nahi hain film ke andar. But dekha jaye toh it’s also inclusive enough. Matlab halka sa LGBTQ chhoo ke jati hain. Joh Abhishek Banerjee ka character last mein bolta hain, ‘Love is love.’ There’s an acceptance. There is a Muslim family jinki shadi ek Sardar se ho rahi hain, ek Hindu se ho rahi hain. Toh joh desi janta hai, unko toh lagega yeh progressive hain. Par joh magnifying glass le ke baithe hain, wo galtiyan nikaal sakte hain. Unke liye ye film hain hi nahi. (In Dream Girl 2, you cannot go into intricacies. There is no message in the film despite it trying to be progressive. It slightly touches upon LGBTQ topic in the form of Abhishek Banerjee’s character. There is a Muslim family which is getting their daughter married to a Sardar and a Hindu. So for the desi audience, this film will feel progressive but for others sitting with a magnifying glass, it won’t).”

The actor said that as long as a movie like Dream Girl 2 works, he can go ahead and have the courage to work on movies like Andhadhun, Article 15 and An Action Hero.
