Helmed by Zoya Akhtar, the young actress is also younger sister of Janhvi Kapoor, who had made her debut with Dhadak. At the India Today Conclave 2023 on Wednesday, Khushi Kapoor attended the panel titled ‘New Kids on the Block: Meet the Gen Z of Bollywood aka The Archies Gang’ and talked about her character Betty Cooper.
When asked if she is a ‘goody two-shoes’ just like her character, she said, “’I’d like to think so. I think we were cast because there was so much of us that we had in our characters. There’s a lot about Betty that I see in myself as well, and I think I found that out the more I played her. I think she is very sweet and empathetic but is also sensitive sometimes. And she is really caring, but sometimes she can tend to put other people’s needs ahead of hers. So, I think I kind of identified with certain parts of her a lot the more I played her.”
When asked how long they took to ‘break ice’ with each other, Khushi added that it didn’t take much time as all of them were prepping together. “We were forced to spend so much time together, and just going through the same experience made us bond so much. I think doing acting workshops together made us open up and be vulnerable with each other. I think towards the end of the shoot we were just kind of moving in a small herd everywhere together,” she said.
The Archies include Dot (Ethel Muggs), Agastya Nanda (Archie Andrews), Khushi Kapoor (Betty Cooper), Mihir Ahuja (Jughead Jones), Suhana Khan (Veronica Lodge), Vedang Raina (Reggie Mantle) and Yuvraj Menda (Dilton Doiley). They recently did their first performance of ‘Sunoh’ in Brazil at the Netflix Tudum event.
The film is set in the 1960s, and takes audiences to the fictional hilly town of Riverdale. The Archies is a coming-of-age musical following the lives of Riverdale’s favorite set of teenagers – Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel and Dilton. Seen through the lens of the unique Anglo-Indian community, The Archies explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion and is set to release on December 7, 2023.

Suhana Khan reflected on her first day on set by saying, “I guess all of that is very different from being in a Netflix film and being on a real film set as a working actor, I think, from the number of people on set, from the number of lights on set and the hair and makeup and all the chaos. And in the middle of this, I felt extremely insignificant. And, I guess I kind of knew that everything that everyone was doing around me was felicitating the director’s vision, Zoya’s vision and I guess knowing that on my first day and realising that, I felt extremely nervous.”
As she will play the role of Veronica Lodge in the movie, Suhana Khan added that her parents Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are her biggest source of guidance. She said, “I wouldn’t say my critic, but my biggest source of guidance is my parents. My entire family feels to chip in and help each other out.”
With The Archies, three-star kids are being launched. K. Lee, will premiere on January 26, 2024. The teaser art for the series was also revealed.
Expats stars Academy Award- and Emmy-winning actor Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue, Ji-young Yoo, Brian Tee, and Jack Huston. Kidman and Lulu Wang also serve as executive producers on the series. The series’ feature-length penultimate episode will have its European premiere screening at BFI’s London International Film Festival on October 9.
Set against the vibrant and tumultuous tapestry of 2014 Hong Kong, Expats centers on three American women—Margaret (Nicole Kidman), Hilary (Sarayu Blue), and Mercy (Ji-young Yoo)—whose lives intersect after a sudden family tragedy. The series interrogates privilege and explores what happens when the line between victimhood and culpability becomes blurred. Brian Tee, who plays Margaret’s husband Clarke, and Jack Huston, who plays Hilary’s husband David, also star in the series.
Lulu Wang serves as a creator, director, and writer for Expats. Wang also executive produces the series with Daniele Melia for Local Time. Nicole Kidman serves as an executive producer for the series with Per Saari for Blossom Films, along with Australian screenwriter Alice Bell, who was the first writer onboarded to the series. Theresa Park for Per Capita Productions and Stan Wlodkowski also serve as executive producers. Vera Miao, Gursimran Sandhu and author Janice Y. K. Lee served as writers on Expats, with Bell and Wang.
