Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is currently in Jeddah for the Red Sea International Film Festival 2023. The Tiger 3 actress also sat down for a conversation about her career and her upcoming movie Merry Christmas with Vijay Sethupathi which is helmed by Sriram Raghavan. At the festival, the actress said that it is the most difficult film she has ever done.

During a panel conversation, Katrina Kaif said, “It was always on my bucket list and one of my dreams to work with him (Sriram Raghavan) and I got the opportunity in Merry Christmas and it was phenomenal. By far, the most difficult film I have ever done. Definitely, the character took a lot out of me but the experience was something like he really challenges you as an actor. Also, it’s a bilingual film. We shot the film in Hindi and Tamil. In Tamil version, I have actually spoken in Tamil. So it was two takes for whatever you were doing and that was really challenging but exciting.”

She added, “My co-star Vijay Sethupathi is so phenomenal. When we would do the Hindi take, he would be fantastic but when we would do the Tamil take, I would see a different actor.”

Produced by Ramesh Taurani and Jaya Taurani; Sanjay Routray & Kewal Garg, Merry Christmas is a collaboration that combines the vision and expertise of Tips Films and Matchbox Pictures. The film is all set to illuminate the silver screens on January 12, 2024.

This live-action musical transports viewers on an enchanting journey back to the captivating era of the 1960s, set in the fictional hill town of Riverdale. The film is produced by Netflix India, Tiger Baby, Archie Comics and Graphic India. The Archies will be released worldwide on Netflix only on December 7, 2023.

On the work front, Vedang Raina is reportedly doing another big project with Alia Bhatt’s next Jigra, helmed by Vasan Bala.

Rakhee to make a comeback with Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s Bengali movie Amar Boss

Renowned for illuminating the silver screen for decades, Rakhee Gulzar is making a comeback in Bengali films after a hiatus. Her last theatrical release in Bengal was Rituparno Ghosh’s Shubho Mahurat (2003) even though she was seen in Gautam Halder’s Nirban, which did rounds of several film festivals in 2019 as it didn’t have a theatrical release. It thus clocks two decades of seeing Rakhee on the big screen in a Bengali film. Nirban was included in the Indian Panorama section of the 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India and was later screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2019.

Rakhee to make a comeback with Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee's Bengali movie Amar Boss

Rakhee Gulzar will portray the protagonist in Amar Boss, directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, with shooting expected to commence on January 3, 2024. The film also features Shiboprosad and Srabanti Chatterjee. Reflecting on her quiet life in Panvel during KIFF (2019), Rakhee shared her experiences of visiting Kolkata anonymously and exploring the local markets. She expressed joy in being able to move around without much recognition. She also spoke about being choosy, “I used to work in cinema when it was very different. But I have no regrets about stopping, about not working with directors I have not wrked with. My favourite director is Tapan Sinha, I love the way he made films for everyone. As an actress, I have had the same beliefs.”

Nandita Roy expressed her excitement about working with Rakhee Gulzar, stating, “I have great regards for Rakhee di and wanted to work with her for long. Amar Boss was conceived keeping her in mind. We are delighted about getting this opportunity to work with her.”

Shiboprosad added, “We have been in touch with Rakhee di for quite sometime now. She has seen most of our films and said her favourite is Haami. She is not just a gem of an actress but also a warm person, a straight talker… someone who shares so much love for the animals as well. She has many, many qualities that are truly mesmerizing. We are proud to work with her.”

Notably, Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s Puja film, Raktabeej, which has been immensely successful at the box office and has garnered praises galore, marked the comeback of yet another veteran actor — Victor Banerjee. The film is set to complete 50 days in theatres soon.

It was only recently when the makers and cast of Netflix’s The Archies unveiled the entire music album at a grand carnival event in Mumbai. As much as the fans were awestruck by the performances of its cast members including Dot (Aditi), Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda, it’s the film’s music that has managed to create quite a stir in the music scene with its ‘60s rock and roll vibe.

The song ‘Dhishoom Dhishoom’ from the film has opened to great response to the music, and the song’s choreography has also impressed the audiences. Set against a high school, the song features the female cast skating with co-actor Agastya Nanda. The makers of the Zoya Akhtar directorial have now given a sneak peek of the ‘Dhishoom Dhishoom’ song. In a new BTS video, Suhana Khan, Dot and Khushi Kapoor can be seen preparing for the song during their roller-skating rehearsals. A candid glimpse of the challenges and difficulties faced by the actors finding their balance, the video showcases them playfully falling while on skates, further adding authenticity to their moments.

Impressively, their determination led them to master their moves, which can be seen in the song. Sharing the video on social media, the girls wrote, “Pulled all punches for Dhishoom Dhishoom.” Appreciating their effort, Director Zoya Akhtar commented, “Bravo girlies!!! For getting up each time you fell. Respect.”

Ranveer Singh calls Johnny Depp as his ‘on-screen idol’; Sharon Stone describes Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor as ‘all-rounder creative genius’ at Red Sea International Film Festival 2023

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh was honoured at the third edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. Over the course of 10 days starting from November 30 to December 9, the festival will celebrate the local and international filmmaking talents. Along with Ranveer, German actress Diane Kruger and veteran Saudi writer and actor Abdullah Al-Sadhan will also be the honorees. On the first day of the event, Ranveer was in attendance at Jeddah for a conversation followed by which he attended the red carpet on the opening night.

At the event, Ranveer opted for an all-black look for the opening ceremony. Presenting the honour to Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor was Sharon Stone who took to the stage and said, “I have had the exciting pleasure of meeting Ranveer Singh before. What a great guy! He is truly an all-rounder creative genius. It gives me genuine great pleasure to welcome him to the stage to receive yet another prestigious award.” In the video, Ranveer seemed overwhelmed by receiving an award from Stone.

After receiving the award, Ranveer thanked his fans and said, “I want to thank my beautiful fans the most. They have been my driving force. They inspire me to push my limits and strive for greatness, to find that moment of truth that is invaluable.”

During his speech, Ranveer Singh posed with Johnny Depp and called him his inspiration in his speech. “One of my screen idols is in the house. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Johnny Depp. My good sir, I have followed your work since Edward Scissorhands and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. What an honour to be receiving in your presence. Thank you for everything you have unknowingly taught me about the craft, master of transformation, versatility, something that I am inspired by you.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranveer Singh will be seen in Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe Singham Again alongside Deepika Padukone. He has signed Don 3 with Farhan Akhtar and reportedly he also has Baiju Bawra with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
