Animal Box Office Estimate Day 3: Ranbir Kapoor movie collects Rs. 75 crores on Sunday; scores Rs. 205 crores in 3 days

The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed Animal has set the box office on fire in its opening weekend as the Ranbir Kapoor film has collected Rs. 206 crores in India in just 3 days. After opening at Rs. 63.80 crores, Animal jumped to Rs. 67.27 crores on Saturday.

According to early estimates, the Sunday total of Animal is in the range of Rs. 73 to 75 crores, thereby entering the Rs. 200 crore club in style. The film is headed to collect Rs. 65 crores in Hindi, whereas the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions are looking to score in the range of Rs. 8.50 to 9.50 crores. With this, the Hindi-only total of Animal stands around Rs. 178 crores, whereas Tamil and Telugu versions aggregated Rs. 27 crores through the weekend.

Animal is running riot across the board and has even faced a capacity cap through the opening weekend at multiple places. The lack of tickets among the audience will lead to a strong spillover on Monday and the film is all set to pass the Monday test with flying colors.

The Ranbir Kapoor film has done well across the board – be it multiplexes or single screens – and it’s a case of scaling new heights going forward. One must note that these numbers are coming in for an A-rated film in a clash scenario, a phenomenon never seen before. It’s the youth & masses that have helped Animal score record numbers at the box office

Arjun Kapoor reviews Animal, calls Ranbir Kapoor ‘once in a lifetime talent’: “Fire, pain, madness and aggression like never seen before on screen”

Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri, has been released in theatres. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the ‘A’ rated violent crime saga collected Rs. 63.80 crores on its opening day. Like many celebrities, Arjun Kapoor is heaping praises for Ranbir Kapoor, Sandeep, Anil and more.

Taking to Instagram stories, he wrote, “Animal is an experience…Ranbir u are a special once in a lifetime talent that’s brought to life a character with fire, pain, madness and aggression like never seen before on screen… @rashmika mandanna u made me feel for ur character & equation with Ranbir with the courage & sincerity u brought in… @iambobbydeol just pure screen presence man !!! Animal released on December 1, 2023. Following the unveiling of post-credit scene, Sandeep Reddy Vanga seems to be planning a sequel called Animal Park.

Dunki: Javed Akhtar reveals Rajkumar Hirani requested him to write Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se’

Dunki Drop 3 ‘Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se‘ from Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki has indeed arrived as an absolutely heartwarming treat. Unveiled on Friday, the song weaves a captivating narrative, adding another layer of emotion to an endearing film that narrates a heart-warming tale of four friends and their quest to reach foreign shores. While the song brings along the collaboration of Shah Rukh Khan and Sonu Nigam after a long time, the composition by Pritam on the magical lyrics of Javed Akhtar indeed makes it special.

Javed Akhtar, who has collaborated with SRK on numerous hit songs, is back with him in Dunki Drop 3 – ‘Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se’. When asked about reuniting with SRK for Dunki, Javed Akhtar shared an intriguing story about the song, He revealed, “In this film, I have only one song and Interestingly, Raju Hirani played a pivotal role in ensuring that we included this song, and he specifically requested me to write it. I hope you will enjoy the song, as it is unique due to its distinct situation. Typically, I write the lyrics after the tune is composed, but Pritam generously suggested that I write the song first, and he would compose the music accordingly, and he did a fantastic and brilliant job with it.

Dunki features an ensemble cast, with colourful characters portrayed by exceptionally talented actors Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover, along with Shah Rukh Khan. A JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Rajkumar Hirani Films presentation, produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Gauri Khan Written by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon, Dunki is slated to release in December 2023.

Katrina Kaif describes Merry Christmas as the most ‘difficult’ film of her career; calls Vijay Sethupathi a ‘phenomenal’ actor

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is currently in Jeddah for the Red Sea International Film Festival 2023. The Tiger 3 actress also sat down for a conversation about her career and her upcoming movie Merry Christmas with Vijay Sethupathi which is helmed by Sriram Raghavan. At the festival, the actress said that it is the most difficult film she has ever done.

During a panel conversation, Katrina Kaif said, “It was always on my bucket list and one of my dreams to work with him (Sriram Raghavan) and I got the opportunity in Merry Christmas and it was phenomenal. By far, the most difficult film I have ever done. Definitely, the character took a lot out of me but the experience was something like he really challenges you as an actor. Also, it’s a bilingual film. We shot the film in Hindi and Tamil. In Tamil version, I have actually spoken in Tamil. So it was two takes for whatever you were doing and that was really challenging but exciting.”

She added, “My co-star Vijay Sethupathi is so phenomenal. When we would do the Hindi take, he would be fantastic but when we would do the Tamil take, I would see a different actor.”

After Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina croons a song ‘Everything Is Politics’ for The Archies

The entire gang of The Archies comprises some very charming newbies who are foraying into Bollywood with the Zoya Akhtar film. The Archies star Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, Dot, Yuvraj Menda, and Mihir Ahuja.  The Archies does not just mark Vedang’s debut as an actor but as a singer too. The actor who plays Reggie Mantle in the film has lent his voice to the song ‘Everything Is Politics‘.

The song is a groovy, peppy number that literally gets you hooked. ‘Everything Is Politics‘ has gotten music from Shankar, Ehsaan, and Loy, and is quite a mood lifter.

This live-action musical transports viewers on an enchanting journey back to the captivating era of the 1960s, set in the fictional hill town of Riverdale. The film is produced by Netflix India, Tiger Baby, Archie Comics and Graphic India. The Archies will be released worldwide on Netflix only on December 7, 2023.

On the work front, Vedang Raina is reportedly doing another big project with Alia Bhatt’s next Jigra, helmed by Vasan Bala.

Rakhee to make a comeback with Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s Bengali movie Amar Boss

Renowned for illuminating the silver screen for decades, Rakhee Gulzar is making a comeback in Bengali films after a hiatus. Her last theatrical release in Bengal was Rituparno Ghosh’s Shubho Mahurat (2003) even though she was seen in Gautam Halder’s Nirban, which did rounds of several film festivals in 2019 as it didn’t have a theatrical release. It thus clocks two decades of seeing Rakhee on the big screen in a Bengali film. Nirban was included in the Indian Panorama section of the 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India and was later screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2019.

Rakhee Gulzar will portray the protagonist in Amar Boss, directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, with shooting expected to commence on January 3, 2024. The film also features Shiboprosad and Srabanti Chatterjee. Reflecting on her quiet life in Panvel during KIFF (2019), Rakhee shared her experiences of visiting Kolkata anonymously and exploring the local markets. She expressed joy in being able to move around without much recognition. She also spoke about being choosy, “I used to work in cinema when it was very different. But I have no regrets about stopping, about not working with directors I have not wrked with. My favourite director is Tapan Sinha, I love the way he made films for everyone. As an actress, I have had the same beliefs.”

Nandita Roy expressed her excitement about working with Rakhee Gulzar, stating, “I have great regards for Rakhee di and wanted to work with her for long. Amar Boss was conceived keeping her in mind. We are delighted about getting this opportunity to work with her.”

Shiboprosad added, “We have been in touch with Rakhee di for quite sometime now. She has seen most of our films and said her favourite is Haami. She is not just a gem of an actress but also a warm person, a straight talker… someone who shares so much love for the animals as well. She has many, many qualities that are truly mesmerizing. We are proud to work with her.”

Notably, Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee’s Puja film, Raktabeej, which has been immensely successful at the box office and has garnered praises galore, marked the comeback of yet another veteran actor — Victor Banerjee. The film is set to complete 50 days in theatres soon.
