Sidharth Malhotra in talks for two projects with directors Meghna Gulzar and Jeethu Joseph: Report

Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra is kicking off 2024 with Rohit Shetty’s first web series Indian Police Force. The actor also makes his streaming debut with this upcoming series. However, Sidharth Malhotra is already in talks for two projects with the production house Junglee Pictures. These projects are reportedly being directed by Meghna Gulzar and Drishyam’s Jeethu Joseph.

According to a report in Peeping Moon, a source revealed, “Sidharth and Junglee Pictures have been talking about collaborating for the past few months and are mainly discussing two movies — one directed by Meghna Gulzar and the other by Jeethu Joseph, acclaimed for his blockbuster Malayalam movie franchise, Drishyam. Sid, however, hasn’t signed them yet, as it’s still in the conversation stage. Depending on how the talks go, he might decide to do one of them or ultimately agree to both.”

Like always, Meghna Gulzar’s project is based on a true story. Meanwhile, Jeethu Joseph’s project is about a “valiant, sharp, and quick-witted law enforcement officer who embarks on a journey to fight for truth and bring justice in a high-stakes case at the international level.” Both projects are eyeing the 2024 production stage.

Meanwhile, Sidharth Malhotra has Yodha as his next theatrical release. It is set for an April 2024 release. Apart from this and his web series, he has reportedly signed Dinesh Vijan’s Spider alongside Janhvi Kapoor. The action thriller will be directed by Dasvi fame Tushar Jalota. It goes on floors in January 2024.

Koffee with Karan 8: Janhvi Kapoor does not want to date actors: “I want someone to be obsessed with me”

In the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8, sisters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor made their appearance together. While this was Janhvi’s third time on the show, The Archies debutante made her first appearance. Janhvi Kapoor talked about her rumoured boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya. She also said that she is over dating actors and there’s a reason for it.

“You also have a philosophy which we have spoken about that you don’t really want to date actors because you think it is somewhere or the other turbulent,” asked Karan Johar.

Janhvi said, “I am extremely vain. I think with this profession, you have to be obsessed with it all the time and it consumes you completely. I want someone to be obsessed with me. You need someone to be okay with you to let you have your moment. It needs to have a balance. But I find with actors is that they get very competitive and weird with each other. There’s always tension when there’s an actor and I can’t deal with that emotion because I like to be undyingly devoted and I expect that devotion and I think when you’re in the same profession it’s difficult.”

During the Rat Race round, when Karan asked Janhvi to “name three people on your speed-dial list,” she responded, “Papa, Khushu (Khushi) and Shiku (as in Shikhar Pahariya).”

Koffee With Karan 8 is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Koffee With Karan 8: Janhvi Kapoor recalls the heartbreaking moment when she learnt about Sridevi’s death: “I could hear wailing from Khushi’s room”

In the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8, sisters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor made their appearance together. While this was Janhvi’s third time on the show, The Archies debutante made her first appearance. As they spoke about their lives and careers, they also recalled the time when they heard about their mother Sridevi’s death.

Recalling the moment when she learnt about her mother’s death, Janhvi said, “When I got the call, I was in my room and I could hear wailing from Khushi’s room. I think I barged into her room, howling and crying but what I do remember is she looked at me and the minute she looked at me, she just stopped crying. She just sat next to me and started comforting me and I’ve never seen her cry about it since.”

Khushi Kapoor shared, “I felt like I had to hold it together for everyone because I feel like I’ve always been the strong one.”

In the same episode, Janhvi also spoke about how Khushi is more similar to Sridevi, “She is a very quiet person and I think that is one thing she has in common with Mumma. But in front of the camera, she just explodes,” she said.

Sridevi died in 2018 in Dubai, where she was attending Boney Kapoor’s nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. It was announced that the cause of her death was accidental drowning.

Sooraj Barjatya to make OTT debut with Sony LIV’s Badaa Naam Karenge; set for Diwali 2024 weekend release

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya is all set to venture into digital streaming and will be making his OTT debut with Sony LIV’s upcoming family drama series, Badaa Naam Karenge. The streaming platform has announced its robust 2024 line-up and the filmmaker’s project is set for Diwali 2024 release.

The upcoming debut series, though casting details remain undisclosed, is set to grace screens during the festive season. While the makers are tight-lipped about the ensemble, the confirmed promise of a family drama series has heightened anticipation.

Meanwhile, Sooraj Barjatya will next helm a project starring Maine Pyar Kiya actor Salman Khan. Many reports suggested that it was supposed to be announced on his 58^th birthday last month. However, it wasn’t announced. Speaking to the news outlet India Today last year, Sooraj said, “I am starting with Salman mid-next year because when I make a film, I become selfish. Today, at this stage of my life as a director, I have become selfish. I write the film myself and when I write myself, then I take my own time. With Salman especially, since we are doing something together after a long time, it has to be something special, especially after all these years. So yeah, I will start next year mid.”

Karan Johar remembers people calling Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani “vaccination” for Animal; calls the Ranbir Kapoor starrer “Best film of the year”

Bollywood’s renowned filmmaker, Karan Johar, has thrown his weight behind the controversial yet successful film, Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. In a bold statement at the Mega Pan India Roundtable 2023, Johar declared the Ranbir Kapoor starrer the “best film of the year” and a “game-changer” for Indian cinema.

Johar, seated right next to Vanga during the roundtable, elaborated on his admiration for the film’s unconventional narrative. Animal is a stark contrast to Johar’s own recent romantic comedy, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. He said, “People have come up to me after I spoke about how much I loved Animal, and said, ‘You have made Rocky Aur Rani,’ That’s the vaccination for a film like Animal. It’s the opposite extreme. I said that I cannot disagree with you more, because Animal to me is the best film of the year.”

“It took me a while to reach to this statement and a lot of courage because when you are around people, you fear judgement. Like during the time of Kabir Singh, which I also loved… I was like I am going to say this and I am going to get dirty looks from certain people but I don’t care anymore,” KJo added further. 

Explaining his take, the 51-year-old producer-director said, “I loved Animal for its front-footed, absolutely conviction-based narrative storytelling, breaking grammar, breaking myths, breaking everything that you think conforms to mainstream cinema. Suddenly you have an interval block where the hero is getting bashed up and everyone’s singing a song… I am like, ‘Where have you seen a sequence like this?’ It’s genius.”

Speaking of the climax, Karan asserted, “The end, where the two men are going for each other and they play that song… I had tears in my eyes, but there was only blood. So I was like something is wrong with me or something is wrong with him, but something put together is very right about this film.

Heaping praises on Vanga, Karan said, “This is not an average thinking mind. This is the mind of someone who is so distinct, so individualistic that I was blown away. I saw the film twice, first as an audience member and second to study it. I think the success and acceptance of Animal is game-changing. The conviction is something that I want to have.” 

Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor in a dark and intense role, has already crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the domestic box office. Despite its controversial themes, the film has garnered critical acclaim for its raw portrayal of human emotions and its captivating storytelling.
