Among the luminaries remembered, Indian art director and producer Nitin Desai was honoured alongside icons like Tina Turner and Matthew Perry. Desai’s passing, at the age of 57, was a tragic loss for the film industry, as he had contributed significantly to some of Bollywood’s most memorable works.
Nitin Desai had won four National Awards for Best Art Direction. He was best known for his fruitful collaboration with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, during which he crafted stunning sets that became integral to the visual storytelling of films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Bajirao Mastani. Beyond his partnership with Bhansali, Desai lent his creative vision to a diverse array of filmmakers, including Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and Ashutosh Gowariker.

His extensive filmography boasts credits in beloved movies like Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Dostana, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Munna Bhai MBBS, Mission Kashmir, Josh, and Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha. Desai’s final cinematic endeavour was the 2019 war epic drama Panipat, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
In August 2023, art director Nitin Desai allegedly died by suicide at ND Studio in Karjat. The 57-year-old artist had been facing financial woes, struggling to repay a staggering Rs 252-crore loan, leading to a bankruptcy court admitting an insolvency petition against his company, ND’s Art World Pvt Ltd, according to a report by PTI.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali launched the first song from his music label Bhansali Music, ‘Sakal Ban’ for his maiden Netflix series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Creating a phenomenon that had never been witnessed before, the song saw its grand launch on the global stage of Miss World 24’.
The leading ladies walked alongside the world’s most beautiful women on the first track of the show, from Bhansali Music. The cast walked the ramp live with the fast-track top 13 contestants of the pageant from across the globe. Aired in over 140 countries, the walk, and the song play out was truly a magnificent launch of the song. Seeing everyone dressed in the colour of Basant was a visual delight. With this Sanjay Leela Bhansali gave the Miss World an experience of India’s rich culture.

The film, starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Jyothika and Janki Bodiwala, is all set to go past that number today (Saturday). Today’s number might just add more pleasant surprises for the makers as a lot of cinema halls and multiplexes in Mumbai have added midnight shows from today.
Late shows starting at 11:55 pm are seen aplenty all across Mumbai right now. There are also multiplexes like Cinepolis Andheri, Maison Inox BKC and MovieMax Mira Road that have included shows as late as 11:59 pm. On top of that, a cursory glance at the online ticket booking website shows that these shows are filling fast. In fact, at Cinepolis Viviana Mall, Thane there are two shows starting at 11:59 pm and, interestingly, both are seeing rapid bookings.
These scenes clearly show that Shaitaan, which is the official Hindi remake of the Gujarati movie Vash, has been accepted by the audience at large. Needless to say, one can expect similar scenes tomorrow as well.
