Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt took on the role of host for the Hope Gala event in London this past weekend. The event, held in support of the Salaam Bombay Foundation, aimed to raise funds to aid underprivileged teenagers in India. This charitable organization is dedicated to empowering the most vulnerable children in Mumbai, offering them vital opportunities through in-school programs focused on leadership and advocacy, as well as after-school academies dedicated to skill-building. Through these initiatives, Salaam Bombay endeavours to nurture confidence, bolster self-esteem, and foster a commitment to education among these at-risk youths.  From the moment she stepped onto the stage, Alia captivated the audience not only with her charm and wit but also with her impeccable sense of style.

For the evening, Alia Bhatt donned a resplendent cream-coloured saree adorned with intricate lace and pearl details, designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Adding to her elegance were the emerald earrings that adorned her ears, subtly accentuating her ensemble with a touch of regal allure.

She then wore a stunning wine-coloured gown. She paired it up with an exquisite blue sapphire and diamond necklace, paired with a matching ring, both from the Italian jewellery brand, Bulgari. The stunning set of jewellery, reportedly valued at a whopping Rs. 20 crore (approximately 2.5 million USD), instantly was talked about on social media.

On the work front, Alia Bhatt will next star in her co-production Jigra. It also stars Vedang Raina and is helmed by Vasan Bala. The film is set for a September 2024 release. Meanwhile, she has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. On the other hand, Alia also has YRF’s standalone spy universe project with Sharvari Wagh and Bobby Deol.

Ranbir Kapoor denies rumours of paying crores to Alia Bhatt’s sisters during ‘Joota Churai’ ceremony: “We did give some cash”

The Great Indian Kapil Show brought back Kapil Sharma alongside his gang of friends Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Rajiv Thakur and Archana Puran Singh with a whole lot more up their sleeves. The first guests on the show were Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as the episode aired on Netflix on March 30. During the episode, Ranbir denied the rumours of paying crores to Alia Bhatt’s sisters during ‘joota churai’ ceremony at their wedding.

During a recent episode, hot Kapil Sharma didn’t shy away from addressing the elephant in the room, as he questioned Ranbir about the rumours. To this, Ranbir calmly said, “No. That’s not true.” However, Neetu Kapoor interjected, “We did give them some cash.” Ranbir then clarified that while Alia’s sisters did demand a significant sum in lakhs, he negotiated them down to “a few thousands.” Archana Puran Singh suggested that the sum seemed too low given the circumstances. Ranbir said, “We had a small ceremony at home.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir Kapoor has Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana opposite Sai Pallavi. He has also signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War alongside Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.

Ananya, sharing a heart and a butterfly emoji on her Instagram reel, shared that she and Navya went to the local Prithvi  Cafe for a chill session. She captioned the video, “Kadak chai, cheese toast, book shopping and Navya’s driving. Prithvi Sunday.” In the accompanying video, Ananya and Navya were clad in casual attire as they embarked on their escapade across Mumbai. Navya, confidently behind the wheels, navigated through the city’s streets. Ananya used the song ‘Hone Do Joh Hota Hai’ from her film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.

Tamil actor Daniel Balaji passes away at 48 due to cardiac arrest

Best known for his role as Amudhan in the Kamal Haasan, Jyothika starrer Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu, Daniel Balaji is known for some of the most power packed roles in Tamil Cinema. The actor, at the age of 48, passed away in Chennai after suffering from a cardiac arrest. Many of his colleagues from the industry expressed their condolences and took to social media to share their grief over the actor’s demise.

Reports suggest that Balaji complained of chest pain on Friday, after which he was immediately rushed to a hospital in Kottivakam, Chennai. Although he was undergoing treatment, the doctors reportedly couldn’t save him. He was later taken to Purasaiwakam for his last rites where the family also held his funeral. Balaji, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, made his debut in 2002 with the Tamil film April Madhathil starring Srikanth and Sneha. On the other hand, he has also featured in a handful of Malayalam films too.

Expressing their grief over the actor’s demise, director Mohan Raja took to social media to share his condolence message saying, “Such a Sad news, He Was an inspiration for me to join film institute, A very good friend, Miss working with him, May his soul rest in peace”.

In yet another message shared by his Vettaiyadu Vilayaaadu co-star Kamal Haasan said, “The sudden death of brother Daniel Balaji is shocking. The agony of a young man’s deaths is painful. My condolences to Balaji’s family, friends and fans. He will live even after his death by donating his eyes. My tribute to Balaji who has given light.”

Parineeti Chopra pens heartfelt note of gratitude ahead of Amar Singh Chamkila release; says, “I’m immensely thankful” to the team

Parineeti Chopra will be seen in one-of-a-kind drama in Amar Singh Chamkila, which is a biopic on the 70s Punjabi singer by the same name. The film traces the rise and later, the murder of the musician who created history in North India with his music. With Diljit Dosanjh playing the titular character, Parineeti will be seen as his wife Amarjot in the Netflix film. Sharing her experience of working with the team which also includes Imtiaz Ali and A R Rahman, Parineeti took to social media to express her gratitude.

In her recent post shared on her Instagram feed, Parineeti Chopra posted several BTS moments from her film Amar Singh Chamkila which saw some unseen photos of her with co-star Diljit Dosanjh, director of the film, Imtiaz Ali, among others. Also penning a note of gratitude, she opened up about the great qualities of the team she worked with and said, “I’m immensely thankful for Chamkila @imtiazaliofficial sir, your direction was unparalleled; you truly led the ship with finesse. Your vision and passion set a new standard.” She continued, “@diljitdosanjh, you were the perfect co-star, making every moment on set enjoyable and effortless. @arrahman sir, being musically directed by you – a thing of dreams. And the entire team who made this film” and also added twin heart emojis.

She went on to add, “Shooting this film has topped any other film experience because I got to sing and act – 2 things I’m the most passionate about, so thank you” and concluded it with folding hands and heart emojis.

Alia Bhatt sings ‘Ikk Kudi’ with Harshdeep Kaur at HOPE GALA 2024; watch

Readers would be aware that the beloved Rani of 2023, Alia Bhatt hosted the beautiful evening of Hope Gala which is a charity event that was hosted in London. The actress enthralled fans in two different and glamorous outfits where she was hosting and giving speech. Apart from that, the actress also crooned to one of her chartbuster songs ‘Ikk Kudi’ from her film Udta Punjab. She was accompanied by popular playback singer Harshdeep Kaur.

Alia Bhatt who was seen sitting in the audience and cheering for the performance Harshdeep Kaur, who sang some of the most popular songs at the gala, joined the actress at her table. In a video posted by Alia, the singer is coercing the SOTY actress to croon a few lines and after much persuasion, Bhatt finally gave in and hummed a few lines from the song. The audience, thrilled to witness her singing skills, also cheered loudly for Alia. In fact, Harshdeep Kaur too shared the same video on her Instagram account saying, “Ik Kudi.. jidaa naam Alia… Such an honour performing last night for ‘Hope’ a Fundraiser organised by @salaambbayorg & @mo_hotels ??
