An animated prelude to Kalki 2898 AD is set to debut on OTT platforms, offering audiences a sneak peek into Nag Ashwin’s futuristic world.
What’s more, Prabhas has provided his voice for the entire animated segment, lending his charisma to this unique endeavour. According to a report in Pinkvilla, the decision to premiere the animated prelude digitally before the film’s theatrical release marks a significant move. “The prelude to Kalki will basically give the audience a glimpse into the world of this Nag Ashwin directorial. It’s a one-of-its-kind extended video in the animated format, wherein Prabhas himself has dubbed for his character,” a source close to the development revealed, adding that it will begin with the animation and end with the introduction to the main characters.
“The digital player has paid a bomb to acquire the animated film and this will be a global premiere, leading to the starting point of Kalki on the big screen. This is the first time that an Indian Film will have a prelude, and the makers are sticking to their vision of making and marketing a film at global levels. The output of animation is also at par with the best in the world. The exact timelines for the release of Kalki Animated Prelude have been kept under wraps for now, but the makers are set to create history by one of its kind campaigns” the source added.
Kalki 2898 AD has already made waves on the global stage after its debut at San Diego Comic-Con. Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the film promises to be a multilingual entertainer, blending mythology with cutting-edge sci-fi elements.

Via Bollywood Hungama https://ift.tt/DbSCUg2Oscar-nominated actor Dev Patel is buzzing with excitement as he gears up for the Indian premiere of his directorial debut Monkey Man. The film has been released internationally and opened to critically acclaimed reactions. Amidst the whirlwind of promotional activities, Patel recently opened up about his deep admiration for Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, particularly highlighting his film Koyla released in 1997 which left a deep impact on him.
During the promotions of his film, the actor reminisced about Koyla, a mute protagonist in Rakesh Roshan’s directorial. Speaking to Draw Your Box, Patel vividly recalled Khan’s character, complete with fiery red eyes, a distinctive mullet hairstyle, and a powerful presence as he wielded a sword amidst glistening sweat. For Patel, Koyla wasn’t just a film; it was a narrative that resonated deeply with his own identity. He drew parallels between the protagonist’s struggle for revenge, fuelled by his enforced silence from swallowing hot coals, and the challenges he himself has faced.
Dev Patel said, “A brutal revenge epic where he’d lost his voice by being forced to swallow hot coals and it was like, it’s kind of got it all. It’s kind of, you know, like me in a way. My identity is kind of, it’s been formed by all of these influences.”
Patel’s admiration of the Bollywood superstar isn’t new. In a recent promotional activity, he did Reddit AMA where he was asked about his Bollywood favourite movies and his influence in writing and directing Monkey Man. He responded, “Anything Shah Rukh Khan does.”
Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, Monkey Man stars Patel as Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meagre living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.
Packed with thrilling and spectacular fight and chase scenes, Monkey Man is directed by Dev Patel from his original story and his screenplay with Paul Angunawela and John Collee. The film’s international cast includes Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher and Makarand Deshpande.
Monkey Man is produced by Dev Patel, Jomon Thomas, Oscar winner Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christine Haebler and Anjay Nagpal. Jonathan Fuhrman, Natalya Pavchinskya, Aaron L. Gilbert, Andria Spring, Alison-Jane Roney and Steven Thibault serve as executive producers. Universal Pictures presents a Bron Studios production, a Thunder Road film, a Monkeypaw production, and a Minor Realm/S’Ya Concept production, in association with WME Independent and Creative Wealth Media.
Monkey Man’s release has been delayed in India and it might release on April 26, 2024 instead.

Via Bollywood Hungama https://ift.tt/EX9B6MAVeteran playback singer Shaan recently opened up about a missed opportunity in director Rajkumar Hirani’s film Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan. In an interview with Galatta India, Shaan expressed his disappointment saying, “At this point in my career that song would have meant the sun and the moon for me.”
He further added, “To get to sing again for Shah Rukh Khan after Om Shanti Om, it would have been brilliant. The song was a beautiful duet with Shreya Ghoshal, it had great potential. It worked not just as a film song but had that ‘Hawayein Hawayein’ wala feeling. I was really counting on that but that’s life, it is okay.”
For the unversed, Shaan had recorded a duet titled ‘Durr Kahi Durr’ with singer Shreya Ghoshal for the film. However, during the editing process, director Hirani decided to remove the song. Shaan acknowledged the director’s call, stating, “He was very transparent about it with me.. and I really appreciate that.. and I fully understand that the film is top priority,” on his X (formerly known as Twitter).
Good Morning !!! Aaj #Dunki Day hai … im super excited!! CAN’T WAIT TO SEE IT !! I’m sure Everyone is Going to love the Movie !!! I just want to clear the air about why my song was not part of the film ..

Despite the setback with Dunki, Shaan received a new opportunity from none other than A.R. Rahman. He lent his voice to a challenging song in Mani Ratnam’s historical epic Ponniyin Selvan: II.
Shaan described the song as a “shouty rap song” portraying a fight scene. He initially questioned his suitability for the role, but Rahman encouraged him to take it on. Shaan considers this a significant challenge in his career.
