The director revealed that Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and others slashed their fees to ensure that his films could be made without budget constraints.

Madhur Bhandarkar Recalls A Gesture of Support

Recently, during a chat with Bollywood Hungama, Bhandarkar expressed his gratitude for the actresses’ support, stating that their willingness to compromise on their fees played a crucial role in the success of his films like Fashion and Heroine. He stated, “They didn’t charge the market price from me because they were keen on making these movies. The entire film was resting on their shoulders so everybody slashed their prices.”

A Collaborative Approach

The director also highlighted the importance of collaboration and mutual respect in the film industry. He shared that he had never faced unnecessary demands from the actresses’ entourages, emphasizing the professionalism and understanding displayed by all involved.

Plans for a Fashion Sequel

Looking ahead, Bhandarkar revealed his plans to create a sequel to the critically acclaimed Fashion. He expressed his excitement about the potential for a multi-season series based on the rich material he has developed.

Nikkhil Advani recalls addressing Salman Khan as Shah Rukh Khan on first day of Salaam-E-Ishq: “He gave me a look and the whole set went quiet”

Filmmaker Nikkhil Advani has shared a hilarious anecdote from the first day of shooting for his film Salaam-e-Ishq. The director revealed that he accidentally addressed Salman Khan as Shah Rukh Khan during the muhurat shot.

On his appearance on Aapka Apna Zakir, Nikkhil recalled that the incident occurred amidst the bustling energy of the set, with over 500 junior artists, 200 dancers, and renowned choreographers Bosco-Caesar present. He said, “Salman was standing there and I was looking at the monitor and I said ‘Shah Rukh, ready?’”

Nikkhil previously directed Shah Rukh in Kal Ho Naa Ho. In addition to this, he had previously assisted Karan Johar on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, which also starred Shah Rukh in the lead role. 

Coming back to Nikkhil’s story, the awkward moment was immediately met with silence from the entire crew. “Salman gave me a look and the whole set went quiet. Then he said, ‘Yeah Karan, I am ready,’” he added.

Nikkhil Advani Praises Salman Khan 

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that ever since Nikkhil started promoting his latest directorial venture, Vedaa, he was often seen talking about his equation with Salman Khan. Previously, in a chat with Galatta Plus, the filmmaker said, “Salman Khan prides himself on being the messiah of the industry, so the minute I walked out of the doors of Dharma Productions, I got a call from Salman saying, ‘Come and meet me’. (He then said) ‘Now you will work for me, you will make a film for me’. And I appreciate that.”

Speaking of Vedaa, it stars Sharvari Wagh and John Abraham in the lead while Abhishek Banerjee plays the antagonist. The film was released along with Maddock horror-comedy universe’s Stree 2 and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein.

Uorfi Javed calls Malaika Arora’s series “Very bad” ahead of Follow Kar Lo Yaar’s release on Prime Video; says, “You could feel it and as an audience, I could see..”

Social media sensation Uorfi Javed has not shied away from expressing her opinions, and her latest target is Malaika Arora’s reality show, Moving In With Malaika. In a recent interview, Uorfi openly criticised the show, stating it lacked authenticity. According to her, the show failed to provide genuine insights into Malaika’s life, as the actress seemed hesitant to share personal details. 

Uorfi Javed Critiques Malaika Arora’s Reality Show

Uorfi suggested that Malaika’s reluctance to fully open up might be attributed to her current stage in life. She explained that while it’s understandable to maintain privacy, a reality show requires a certain level of openness to connect with the audience.

In a chat with Fever FM, the former Bigg Boss OTT contestant called the show “very bad” and said, “Maybe because Malaika did not want to give 100% access to her life, which is acceptable and completely justified. Woh jiss stage par hain ya abhi jaise chal raha hain, unko nahi dena hoga 100% access.” She further added, “You could feel it and as an audience, I could see that kuch cheezein chupa rahe hain. Sab nahin bata rahe hain.” 

In contrast, Uorfi praised another reality show, The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, for its entertaining and engaging content.

For the unversed, Malaika’s series, Moving In With Malaika, premiered on Disney+Hotstar in 2022. It was based on her personal and professional life. Several Bollywood celebs such as Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Nora Fatehi, Neha Dhupia, Terence Lewis, and Farah Khan, among others, were seen in the show.

Meanwhile, Uorfi is gearing up for the launch of her own reality show, Follow Kar Lo Yaar, which is set to premiere on August 23, 2024, on Prime Video. The show promises to offer a glimpse into Uorfi’s life, challenges, and ambitions.

In a recent chat on Unfiltered by Samdish YouTube channel, Arshad shared his thoughts on the film, stating that he found it underwhelming. While he praised Amitabh Bachchan’s performance, he expressed his confusion over Prabhas’ characterization. Warsi expressed his desire to see a more gritty and intense portrayal of the protagonist, similar to iconic characters like Mad Max.

In his words: “Meine Kalki 2898 AD, jo mujhe achi nahin lagi. Amit Ji (Bachchan) was unbelievable! I cannot believe it.” While talking about Prabhas he said, “I am really sad but, why was he was like a joker? Why? I want to see a Mad Max yaar, I want to see Mel Gibson over there. What have you made it. Why do filmmakers do this, I will never understand.” 

Appreciation for Rajkummar Rao

Despite his critique of Kalki 2898 AD, Arshad was quick to acknowledge the exceptional performances in other projects. He lauded Rajkummar Rao’s Srikant, calling it outstanding. He also praised Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma’s performances in Munjya and Lakshay Lalwani’s debut film Kill.

Upcoming Projects

On the work front, Arshad Warsi is currently gearing up for the release of Jolly LLB 3, where he will reprise his iconic role alongside Akshay Kumar. He also has the comedy film Welcome To The Jungle in the pipeline, which boasts a star-studded cast.
