Rakhi Sawant pens down a heartfelt message after the death of her mother Jaya Sawant; celebs express condolences

After a protracted struggle with a brain tumour and cancer, Rakhi Sawant’s mother Jaya Sawant passed away on Saturday. Rakhi’s mother had reportedly been in critical condition while being treated in a Mumbai hospital for several days. The actress posted the heart-breaking news along with a moving letter for her mother on social media.

 

Rakhi had posted updates on her mother’s health as well as images and videos of her mother taken when she was in the hospital. In numerous paparazzi recordings, the actor had also pleaded with viewers to pray for her mother’s quick recovery. Rakhi’s mother had receiving medical care in a hospital in Mumbai. She shared a post on Instagram on Saturday confirming that her mother Jaya Sawant had passed away following treatment for a brain tumour and cancer. According to a statement Rakhi posted on her Instagram story, the funeral will be held on Sunday. 

Rakhi posted a touching video on Instagram with her mother. The actress was seen sobbing hysterically sitting on the floor while Rakhi’s mother was shown fighting for her life in the video. Sharing the video she penned a heartfelt note, “Aaj meri maa ka haat sar se uth gaya…Or mere pass khone ke liye kuch nhi bacha…I love you MAA…Aap ke bina kuch nhi raha,ab koun meri pukar sunega or koun mujhe gale lagayega maa..Ab Mai kya karu…kaha jauuuu..I miss you Aai.”

Many Celebrities expressed their sympathy for Rakhi and her family. Reacting to the post, Jackie Shroff commented, “I feel your pain having lost my mom dad brother their soul will always be with us,” singer Ankit Tiwari wrote, “Very sad rakhi, please stay strong. OM SHANTI,” actor Sharad Malhotra commented, “Really sorry to hear about this…Rakhi pls take care of urself ….Om Shanti.” Several fans also shared their condolences with Rakhi in the comments section and asked her to stay strong. 

Rakhi uploaded an image of a photo she had with her deceased mother on Instagram Stories along with a message on WhatsApp that read, “With deep sorrow, I Rakhi Sawant inform you (of) the sudden death of my beloved mother. Many of you know that she was suffering from some medical conditions, well I am sad to say that she is gone. Tomorrow join us for the funeral service of my mother at 12 noon. Address: Municipal Christian Cemetery, Oshiwara, Andheri, West.”

Rakhi Sawant’s mother was hospitalised after being diagnosed with cancer and a brain tumour. She had uploaded a video requesting prayers for her mother. She said, “Hi everyone…My mom is not well, she is in hospital. Please pray for her, she is not feeling her best. She is fighting a battle with cancer. We just came to know that she has a brain tumour with cancer.”

NewJeans become youngest & fastest K-pop act to achieve million-selling album with their first single album ‘OMG’

South Korea’s new pop group NewJeans has officially become million sellers with their album OMG.

According to Korean tabloid Soompi, on the day of its release, OMG nearly became a half million-selling album with over 480,000 copies sold. Within just its first day of sales, OMG recorded a grand total of 701,241 copies sold by the end of the week, beating their own record set by their debut EP NewJeans.

OMG also became the female group album with the fourth-highest first-week sales in Hanteo history, bested only by BLACKPINK’s BORN PINK, aespa’s Girls, and IVE’s After LIKE. According to Circle Chart, NewJeans’ first single album has sold 1,013,462 copies as of January 27.

This feat marks NewJeans’ first million-selling album which comes just three and a half weeks after the release of “OMG” on January 2, and six months after their official debut in August 2022. The band is now only the seventh female K-pop act in history to have a million-selling album, as well as the youngest and fastest group to achieve such a milestone.

As per the report, NewJeans has been dominating various Circle Charts with OMG, Ditto, and Hype Boy for six weeks straight. Recently, NewJeans scored a quadruple crown after topping the album chart with OMG. The band took over the top two spots on the digital chart, streaming chart, and global K-pop chart with Ditto and OMG.

All MOMOLAND members to not renew contract with MLD Entertainment after 7 years

South Korean female pop group MOMOLAND’s members will reportedly part ways with their agency MLD Entertainment after 7 years. According to Korean tabloid Soompi, on January 27, the agency MLD Entertainment shared in an official statement that MOMOLAND’s contract with the agency has expired. “Hello, this is MLD Entertainment,” the agency began in the statement.

They continued, “First of all, we sincerely thank the fans who cherish and support MOMOLAND. After a lengthy discussion with MOMOLAND (Hyebin, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin, and Nancy), we respected each other’s opinions and agreed to terminate the exclusive contract upon expiration of the contract period.”

“We express our deep gratitude to MOMOLAND who has been with us for a long time, and we will sincerely wish the best for the members’ future endeavors,” they added. “We would like to ask fans to show unchanging love and support to the six members who are about to start anew. Thank you.”

MOMOLAND debuted in November 2016 with their first album Welcome To Momoland.

Pathaan Overseas Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan starrer collects USD 3.80 mil. [Rs. 30.97 cr.] on Day 2 in overseas

The Siddharth Anand-directed film Pathaan was released on January 25, to a thunderous response from the audience. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham the Yash Raj Films venture has lived up to trade expectations. In fact, despite facing turbulence in the run-up to its release Pathaan, the film has a wide release across 2500 screens overseas.

After drawing in USD 4.5 million [Rs. 36.68 cr.] on its opening day, reports state that the business of Pathaan has been holding steady. On its second day running, Pathaan managed to draw in a further USD 3.80 million [Rs. 30.97 cr.] at the overseas box office. Not surprisingly, the overseas territory of U.A.E/G.C.C leads with collections pegged at USD 1,470,000 [Rs. 11.98 cr.] with the U.S.A. coming in as the second highest grossing overseas market with collections of USD 733,238 [Rs. 5.97 cr.] coming from 599 screens. Following these two major overseas markets are territories like Australia, Canada, and the U.K. which saw Pathaan perform rather well at the box office, with USD 476,323 [Rs. 3.88 cr.] from, 105 screens, USD 378,027 [Rs. 3.08 cr.] from 60 screens, and USD 286,830 [Rs. 2.33 cr.] from 213 screens coming in respectively. While the territory of New Zealand comparatively saw a lower rate of collections with USD 61,108 [Rs. 49.81 lakhs] coming in from 38 screens.

While the collections of the film may have taken a dip, trade predictions state that the business of Pathaan in the overseas markets will see an increase over its first Saturday and Sunday running. As of now, thanks to the positive reviews and appreciative audience feedback the film continues its box office march.

The annual 30 under 30 lists have often featured Indian celebrities who have managed to break the mold and make a name, irrespective of the medium assorted with. From Bollywood superstar actresses to social media influencers and celebrities who have marked their presence, the list celebrates the achievements of these personas that have become trendsetters and won hearts and fans over a short period of time. HBO renews The Last of Us for season 2 after stellar reviews on premiere

HBO has officially renewed the PlayStation video game adaptation series The Last of Us for season 2. The apocalyptic drama stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the lead roles. According to Deadline, The Last of Us this month scored the second-largest premiere after House of the Dragon since Boardwalk Empire’s launch in 2010. Episode 1 has surpassed 22 million viewers domestically, up nearly five times from its premiere-night audience on January 15. Episode 2 got 5.7 million viewers across HBO Max and other channels in the U.S. Sunday night.

As per the report, the stellar numbers mark the largest Week 2 audience growth for any HBO Original drama series. “I’m humbled, honored, and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey,” said executive producer Neil Druckmann who was also the writer and creative director of the game.

He added, “The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast & crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two! On behalf of everyone at Naughty Dog & PlayStation, thank you!” As the official logline reads, the series “takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone.”

“What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival,” the logline continues. Executive producer and showrunner Craig Mazin also commented, “I’m so grateful to Neil Druckmann and HBO for our partnership, and I’m even more grateful to the millions of people who have joined us on this journey. The audience has given us the chance to continue, and as a fan of the characters and world Neil and Naughty Dog created, I couldn’t be more ready to dive back in.”

Besides Pascal and Ramsey, Season 1 also features Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, Storm Reid, Merle Dandridge, Jeffrey Pierce, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Woodard, Graham Greene, Elaine Miles, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker. Based on Naughty Dog’s award-winning video game, The Last of Us is written and executive produced by Mazin and Druckmann.
